Well now, isn’t this interesting.  Fred’s ‘commentary’ page at ABC Radio Networks is now an archive page.  Yep, right interesting.

Rare Pink Dolphin Seen in Louisiana Lake

It’s sleek, fast, cute — and pink.

A charter-boat captain from Lake Charles, La., photographed a rare pink dolphin a couple of weeks ago in Calcasieu Lake, an estuary just north of the Gulf of Mexico in southwestern Louisiana.

According to Calcasieu Charter Service’s Web site, Capt. Erik Rue was on the lake June 24 with fishing customers when five dolphins came into view — four normal-looking gray ones, and a bright pink one that appeared to be an adolescent.

“It appears to be an uncanny freak of nature, an albino dolphin, with reddish eyes and glossy pink skin,” the Web site reads. “It is small in comparison to the others it is traveling with and appears to be a youngster traveling with mama.”

There is a species of pink dolphin that lives in the Amazon River in South America, but this one appears to be a more common bottlenose dolphin.

How cute! I’m going to prove my ignorance here and ask a question. Since when do dolphin live in lakes?

Not There Yet

I’m only about 4 hours from Waupun, but I just couldn’t make it!  I was just totally worn out.

It was mostly an uneventful trip, with a few exceptions.

Have you ever noticed just how oblivious people can be?  I stopped at a rest area, for the obvious reasons.  I was ready to leave when this woman in a huge truck opened the door.  Well, that door blocked my being able to pull out.  I had the car in reverse, so it wasn’t like she wasn’t aware.  Did she close her door?  Well, of course not.  She proceeded to clean out the garbage.  I tried inching back, so maybe she’d realize I really was trying to leave.  Nope!  She then stood BEHIND my car, just looking around for a minute, walked behind her truck, piddled around, all the while with the driver’s door open.  There was a guy in the passenger seat, just watching.  You’d think he’d be decent enough to pull the door closed, or say something to the woman.  Nope!  I finally got out of my car, walked around, and asked the woman to please close her door, I was trying to leave.  No habla ingles.  sigh….  She finally got the idea, and did manage to close her door.  Like I said, BIG truck!

Of course, I had to make a stop at my favorite Outlet Mall in Tuscola, made a few unnecessary, but wanted purchases.  I also finally went to the Amish Buffet.  I guess there is a buffet in there somewhere, but I was too busy being snoopy.  Seriously cool place.  I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area.  Beautiful furniture, quilts, and many dust catchers.  No, I didn’t spend a bunch of money in there, although, it would have been real easy, if we had needed anything.  I was just curious.

I overslept!  Not exactly a comfy bed here.  So, it’s back on the road for me, asap.  Oh yeah.
