Who has your Social Security number?

A California businessman who works to protect companies from fraud related to identity theft said he found something interesting on the Texas secretary of state’s Web site: Troy Aikman’s Social Security number.
(…)
Peisner said, “Disable the link until it gets done. If that means it takes a year, I’m really sorry. People can go into the office and look them up. There’s no reason a hacker in Malaysia, the Ukraine or Nigeria should have access to John Smith’s, Bill Jones’ or, for that matter, Troy Aikman’s Social Security number.”

What moronic bureaucrat set up this website? It seems that the great world of “them” is doing all they can to screw up the world of “us”.

Ingesting the placenta: Is it healthy for new moms?

“Before I actually did it, my friends thought it was weird,” says French, 29, of Spokane, Wash., whose fifth child is due in August. “But when they saw how fast I recovered from my birth and they knew my history, they thought it was pretty neat. Now I have a lot of friends planning to do it.”

Personal opinion: I think her friends are weird too! Animals seem to do this to deal with the scent so predators won’t eat their babies. We don’t seem to have this problem.

18 South Koreans Abducted Off Bus in Afghanistan

Taliban gunmen abducted 18 members of a South Korean church group, and a purported spokesman for the Islamic militia said Friday that it will question the 15 women and three men about their activities in Afghanistan before deciding their fate.

Odds are their ‘fate’ will be convert or death.

255 released Palestinian security prisoners head home

255 freed Palestinian security prisoners made their way home Friday afternoon on the final leg of their journey which started at Ketziot Prison early Friday morning.

Upon addressing the former inmates at the Mukata ‘presidential’ compound in Ramallah, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said: “This is just the beginning. Efforts must continue. Our work must continue until every prisoner returns to his home.”

I still think this is real bad idea. I don’t understand why Israel is appeasing.

Women Supportive but Skeptical of Clinton, Poll Says

Women view Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton more favorably than men do, but she still faces skepticism among some women, especially those who are older and those who are married, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

I’ve never met a thinking woman who is supportive of Clinton. Where do they find them? What exactly has she done that women should support her? Just because she’s got a uterus? I don’t bloomin’ think so!

Detective: Mom killed baby in microwave

“That microwave was the murder weapon,” detective Michael Galbraith testified Thursday at a hearing to determine if Arnold will stand trial on aggravated murder charges in the death of her month-old daughter, Paris Talley.

Arnold, 26, has pleaded not guilty in Paris’ death on Aug. 30, 2005. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Galbraith testified that Arnold told him during his initial questioning: “If I hadn’t gotten so drunk, I guess my baby wouldn’t have died.”

Well gee b*tch, ya think? How she could plead not guilty and basically confess is beyond me.

State’s jobless rate falls in June to 4.1%

Tennessee’s jobless rate for June fell to 4.1 percent from 4.7 percent the month before and 5.3 percent in June 2006.

“Any state would die for this type of unemployment figure,” said Achintya Ray, a professor in economics and finance at Tennessee State University. The U.S. average unemployment was 4.5 percent.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Computer cost rises 28.8%

A major overhaul of the state’s Medicaid computer system will cost at least $9.3 million – or 28.8% – more than originally planned, largely because of changes to state and federal laws and rules, officials said.

The cost of other pending policy changes, including Gov. Jim Doyle’s proposed expansion of Medicaid, has yet to be tabulated.

One word: “Incompetent” comes to mind. Is Gov. Dopey going to be footing the bill personally? Of course not, he’s got YOUR money to play with.
