Border Patrol chief rejects mission against aliens, drugs

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,” Carlos X. Carrillo, Border Patrol chief of Laredo, Texas, told guests at a town-hall meeting Thursday. “The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop narcotics. … The Border Patrol’s mission is not to stop criminals.

“The Border Patrol’s mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country.”

I think someone needs to start looking for a new job…..NOW!

U.S. Wants to Close Popular Pedestrian Border Crossing

Pedestrians at the nation’s busiest border crossing are losing conveniences in what the authorities describe as measures to improve security and critics say is an unnecessary crackdown.

Until we get this problem under control, I’m of the mind that all borders should be closed. Especially with morons like Carrillo on the job! Said ‘critics’ obviously have NO concern for the safety and security of our nation.

Florida Stripped of Delegates

Democrats decided today to strip Florida of all its presidential convention delegates unless the state holds its primary later in the 2008 election calendar. The punishment would leave the fourth largest state without a vote for the nominee.

The state party has 30 days to comply by moving its contest back at least seven days from the current Jan. 29 plan or lose its 210 delegates to the nominating convention in Denver next summer.

Here’s a thought: Stop moving the flippin’ primaries, have them ALL the same day, and let the VOTERS decide! This recent ‘one up’ nonsense is starting to seriously chap my hide!

Wal-Mart owes back taxes, state says

Wal-Mart says it has not done anything wrong but is merely taking advantage of an overlap of state and federal tax laws: To reduce its taxes and costs, it sets up one subsidiary to run its stores and another subsidiary to own its real estate. The operating subsidiary pays rent to the real estate subsidiary and takes a tax deduction for the rent, even though that money eventually ends up in the corporation’s own pocket.

“Anything Wal-Mart can do to lawfully lower its costs allows the company to pass it along through lower prices,” said company spokesman John Simley. “This is a lawful (tax) structure in Wisconsin.”

And in the meantime, saving shoppers money, and providing jobs! Madison just HATES not sucking the coffers dry.

Iraqi Leader Lashes Back at US Critics

Nouri al-Maliki, who is fighting to hold his government together, issued a series of stinging ripostes against a variety of foreign officials who recently have spoken negatively about his leadership. But those directed at Democrats Clinton, of New York, and Levin, of Michigan, were most strident.

“There are American officials who consider Iraq as if it were one of their villages, for example Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin. They should come to their senses,” al-Maliki said at a news conference.

Sorry Mr. al-Maliki, ’sense’ and Democrats do NOT go hand in hand. You’re just asking way too much!

Falcons want $22 million back from Vick

Vick has received roughly $40 million in guaranteed bonuses — and even more in base salary — but teams are only allowed to try to recoup money paid in signing bonuses, per the collective bargaining agreement with the players’ union.

To collect the money, Vick must remain on the Falcons’ roster. Therefore the team will not release Vick until the matter is resolved, the person familiar with the situation said.

I have a real problem with the amount of money that is paid to these prima donas. It’s a GAME for cryin’ out loud, and not one of these spoiled brats does anything useful to earn it. With so much money in sports, we get trash like Vick.

Iran vows to use ’smart’ bomb against enemies, unveils mass production

Teheran first announced development of the long-range guided bomb Thursday, saying it could be deployed by the country’s aging US-made F-4 and F-5 fighter jets.

“We will use these [bombs] against our enemies when the time comes,” Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on state television Sunday.

Sounds like a threat to me. And just which ‘enemies’ will be the target? I’d say odds are, it’s Israel and/or the U.S. But they are just peaceful folks, right?

Vast army of ‘Hillary haters’ has claws out

Armed with new technologies and fueled by animus, they are bent on preventing “four more years” of Clintonism. Every old charge, it seems, is being repackaged and sold as new. Every rumor is given a new, blog-stoked currency.

I don’t hate the woman, I just don’t trust her!

Televangelist blames Muslim group for show cancellation

A Christian televangelist who harshly criticizes Islam and other religions said Friday that his late-night program is being pulled off the air because of pressure from a Muslim group.

Earlier this month, officials from the Council on American Islamic Relations wrote a letter to the TV station’s owners asking for an investigation of the show it broadcasts, “Live Prayer with Bill Keller.”

In a May 2 broadcast, the televangelist said Islam was a “1,400-year-old lie from the pits of hell” and called the Prophet Muhammad a “murdering pedophile.” He also called the Quran a “book of fables and a book of lies.”

I don’t much care for the majority of televangelists, but yanking the guy off the air is censorship. I mostly think the message gets hidden by the constant calls for ‘donations’, which aggravates me to no end. When the so called ‘Religion of Peace’ manages to silence other religions, it’s time to take a real hard look.

CAIR — the Council on Appeasing Islamonazi Radicals — just didn’t like the truth about Muhammad. He was a murderous pedophile.

I have to take exception with your description of Pro Athletes. Most get painted with the same brush as the minority, simply because of their salaries. Pro Athletics is a multi Billion Daollar industry in this country, and the NFL in particular is the T-Rex of Pro sports . Vick is garbage. However he is the minority. Many athletes do use their money to give back to their communities. Take a look at one of Vick’s now soon to be former teammate Warrick Dunn. He is a person I would have no problem with my Kids idolizing, because with him, what he does on the field is secondary to what he does off of it.

Yes, there are many athletes who do some good with their ’salaries’. My problem is the SIZE of said salaries. I give as much as I’m able to charities, but I’m not out on the front pages, nor do I want to be. What do they do to earn such exorbitant amounts? Play a game. I use to be a football fanatic…just ask my daughter. :) I enjoyed the competition. It’s turned into a rather wussed version of what was it originally intended. Some QB breaks a fingernail, and it’s all over the news. Big whup!

*Allow me to pick myself up off the floor* OlBroad talking about sports! I agree completely as I have told OlBroad.. acutally
on the day we went to tour Texas Stadium.. I have a MAJOR problem with a rookie coming into the league, and with a signing
bonus making more money then the president. Even if you factor in his salary, and his life after his term in office. I also
realize that sports are a multimillion dollar buisness.. Sean also brings up an interesting point about players being active
in the community. Ray Childress former Oiler great was a prime example of what it means to be active in the community. Teams
used to go out to the community and contribute.. but sadly enough most teams dont do that anymore.. Warrick Dunn is a great
role model for your kids Sean.. he is a great leader on the field.. and a huge off the field role model

I refuse to comment on my mothers love of sports, lest she be jailed for child abuse for every bleeping touchdown the cowboys made….. evil bat… lol

Yes, they probably are overpaid. But, Reggie Bush gave his bonus money to keep a school for special needs kids open in New Orleans. Without that huge amount, the school would have closed. Many, many athletes have set up charitable foundations with their money. The ones you don’t hear about are responsible citizens and know they are blessed to be given so much for playing a game.

Of course, if some of them wanted to donate some of it to me, I certainl wouldn’t complain.
