The Transcript
Fred Thompson on Jay Leno: “I’m running for President of the United States.”
Fred’s in. NBC just sent the transcript:
FRED THOMPSON: Thank you.
JAY LENO: Thanks for coming. I hope you didn’t hear the monologue.
FRED THOMPSON: I did. We’ll let the Tennessee joke slide until after the election.
JAY LENO: Right.
FRED THOMPSON: You know, I appreciated that last segment you did, though. Every once in a while I need something that just makes me glad I got out of television. (Laughter.)
JAY LENO: Oh, really. Thanks. That’s very kind of you. I’ve got to ask you something. You were here in June. You said then you were testing the water. You’ve been in the water for a while now. Are you starting to get a little wrinkly? (Laughter.)
FRED THOMPSON: These wrinkles don’t come from the water. (Laughter.)
JAY LENO: They don’t come from the water. All right. What’s the temperature? Is it tepid? What does the water tell you.
FRED THOMPSON: Nice and warm.
JAY LENO: Nice and warm?
FRED THOMPSON: It hasn’t been that long really. We’ve done it a few months, where a lot of people have been working on it since they were in the choir in high school. So we’re where we need to be right now, and that’s one of the things I wanted to talk to you about. I’m running for President of the United States.
JAY LENO: All right. (Applause.)
FRED THOMPSON: Thank you.
JAY LENO: I’m excited. Wow.
FRED THOMPSON: Thank you.
JAY LENO: Well, that’s very exciting. Now, it took a long time to decide this.
FRED THOMPSON: Not really. We started ‑‑ we mentioned it the first time in March. A lot of people have been, of course, running for some time. Everybody kind of changed the rules. Usually you don’t announce until after Labor Day, but they started running a lot earlier, spending millions of dollars and so forth, and everyone said that you couldn’t run this year without raising a hundred million dollars and starting much earlier. I don’t believe that. I wasn’t in the room when they made the rules; so I had to kind of follow my own lead. So we started around the kitchen table in late March talking about it, thinking about it, thinking about what kind of world and what kind of country our kids were going to grow up in and how many people have a chance to do something about it. And I decided that it was time for me to step up. So I did. (Applause.)
JAY LENO: A lot of the pundits say, “Oh, well, you waited too long.”
FRED THOMPSON: No, I don’t think so. Of course, we’ll find out, but I don’t think people are going to say, you know, “That guy would make a very good President, but he just didn’t get in soon enough.” (Laughter.) Communications being what they are nowadays, if you can’t get your message out in a few months, you’re probably not ever going to get it out. Most people don’t start paying attention to these elections until they get a little closer. They treat politicians kind of like the dentist ‑‑ they don’t have anything to do with them until they have to, until the election is near. (Laughter.)
JAY LENO: Well, you haven’t spent any money yet, and you’re second in the polls. There must be something to the theory.
FRED THOMPSON: Not too bad. Well, you can’t tell much by polls these days, but obviously the people are going to give me an opportunity to talk to them about the things that I think are important. I think there will be decisions made in the next few years that are going to impact our lives and the lives of our kids and grandkids for a long, long time. They’re going to determine whether or not we’re a weaker, less prosperous, more‑divided nation than we have been. We can’t let that happen on our watch.
Is there a perfect candidate?
Well, NO, of course not. Would I like a perfect conservative candidate? Sure, but there is no such thing. Perfection in a human is asking a great deal. We can strive, but we won’t ever reach perfection. Each of the current batch of Republican candidates have good points, but there is one that is closer to what I want than the others.
Fred Thompson has problems. Will that keep me from supporting him. I rather doubt it.
More resignations of key founding Fredheads are coming. Soon NONE of the people who got the buzz started in March may remain.
Thompson did Leno in June and numerous senior aides said at the time he would “never return to Hollywood to announce — that’s what McCain did! We won’t use video, that’s what Hillary did. We will let Fred be Fred. We are launching from the (Grand Ole) Opry then hitting New Hampshire and Iowa.” Now they are copying both McCain and Hillary by appearing on Leno and a video.
The original Fredheads are no longer angry or frustrated; most have been fired already or given up. The remaining originals say they will quit soon.
The latest person let go by the campaign was Jim Mills, a long-time Capitol Hill producer for FOX News, who was told on Friday. A little over a month earlier, Mills was personally recruited and hired as spokesman by Fred and Jeri Thompson at their dinner table.
I think Texas Fred addresses the issue quite well.
Debate
Well, I went ahead and watched the debate. I’m not real sure any of them peaked my interest. They did make me laugh when they commented about Fred Thompson. And I do have to agree with that group that said McCain did well. Actually, they all had good moments. I was even listening to Ron Paul until he went ‘moonbat’ on me. I decided cleaning the litter boxes would be better use of my time.
That accomplished, I sat down to pay attention once more, until Mr. Spot started getting antsy in the window. It turns out he was having great fun annoying Frik and Frak.

It was quite obvious to me, they wanted FOOD. So, I fed ‘em. For the first time, they didn’t run off, although they did hiss at me, right before the little one started rubbing my leg. :/
So, back to listening to the candidates. I found watching those two cats a LOT more entertaining. Then Mr. Spot started eyeballing them.

I’m not sure if he thought ‘pawing’ the glass would get him any closer, but he sure was giving it his best shot.

Now, I’m just waiting for…….

And this is what Mr. Ol’ Broad’s bucks helped pay for? Hmmm….. Hope tomorrow brings a little more UMPH!

Impounding is a Start
Impound proposal: ‘They need to go home’
Denver police would have to impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers under a proposed ballot measure that a sponsor said is aimed at driving illegal immigrants out of Colorado.
And the problem with this is….???
Los Angeles police slammed the brakes on a similar practice after the city attorney’s office determined it may be unconstitutional to automatically impound vehicles, said Kevin R. Johnson, a law professor at the University of California at Davis School of Law.
Horse hockey! The impound cars of drug dealers, sell them, etc. They’re breaking the law. Confiscate the cars they are driving illegally.
“They changed the policy to try to avoid any potential lawsuits and potential liabilities,” he said.
Let me get this straight. You can come into OUR country, ILLEGALLY, get arrested, get your car you shouldn’t be driving in a country you shouldn’t be in, and they are worried about law suits? What is wrong with THIS picture!!!??
“If we want to have any kind of future around here at all, something has to be done,” Daniel Hayes, treasurer of a committee behind the proposal, said Tuesday. “They don’t belong here. They need to go home and work their problems out there.”
It’s way past time for the legal citizens, and LEGAL immigrants, to put our collective foot down!
“Denver is a magnet (for illegal immigrants) and it creates a problem for the entire metro area,” Hayes said. “As long as they got a place where they’re safe, where they can go, they can drive, they can live, then they’re going to be a problem everywhere.”
All large cities seem to be ‘magnets’. Perhaps that’s because it’s easier to get ‘lost’ in a large crowd, not to mention there are too many libs in charge in the larger cities?
“A lot of cars get impounded now that belong to people that are not documented because they don’t have proper proof of ownership,” Gale said. “They don’t have a driver’s license. They don’t have a registration.”
A police spokesman said officers don’t always impound vehicles operated by unlicensed drivers. If a licensed driver can pick it up, the officer may decide not to tow it.
And what will the cops do the next time they stop the very same car, with the very same illegal driving? Or how will they feel if that same car with the illegal driver gets trashed and kills someone? Will they reconsider allowing a legal driver to pick up the car?
Not in this lifetime, Chuckie!
Why am I getting ‘gimme money’ mail from Chuckie Schumer? What on earth in my life would ever give the Dhimmis the idea I’d be more than happy to part with Mr. Ol’ Broad’s money for any of their causes? Aren’t they already sucking enough money out the bank for their failed social programs? And just how the heck did they get my address?
One part of a sentence particularly stood out: (yes, I actually opened it out of curiosity)
“Even though it’s clear that the “surge” isn’t working…….”
I find that extremely interesting, especially after reading this:
Iraqi Army withdraws from Fallujah
On an obviously momentous day that perfectly enshrines the hard work of the Fightin’ 6th, our three regimental predecessors in the region, as well as the work of our Iraqi compatriots, the Iraqi Army has ceded their counterinsurgency operations in Fallujah to the Iraqi Police. A city that only 3 years ago was the scene of arguably the most ferocious house-to-house fighting operation of the war is now in the hands of the ‘Sons of Fallujah.’
(…)
The last battalion of Iraqi soldiers with 2nd Brigade, 1st Iraqi Army Division, withdrew from the Anbar Province city of Fallujah, Sept. 1, leaving the city’s security and stability in the hands of the local police and government.
(…)
“(Since) Col. Faisal got here in November, there has been expediential growth with the IPs, both in their numbers and also in their development,†Thoele said. “The IPs are still having equipment and manning problems, but they are working through it.â€
So, who should I believe? Chuckie? Or the men and women who are actually witnessing some of the successes?
Golly gee! There’s a POST PAID envelope included!
Mexico’s Hypocrisy
Mexican president’s blatant hypocrisy
Lou Dobbs
Mexican President Felipe Calderon Sunday demanded the United States surrender its sovereignty, abandon the rule of law and accede to Mexico’s inherent supremacy.
In his state of the union address to the Mexican nation, Calderon established his imperialistic imperatives: “I have said that Mexico does not stop at its border, that wherever there is a Mexican, there is Mexico. And, for this reason, the government action on behalf of our countrymen is guided by principles, for the defense and protection of their rights.”
Calderon protested the U.S. government’s increased raids on illegal employers of illegal alien employees and work site enforcement. In what is little more than a faint nod to the Bush administration’s responsibility to enforce U.S. immigration law, the Department of Homeland Security had planned to send out notices to employers from the Social Security Administration informing them of non-matching records between an employee’s name and Social Security number. These employers would then be forced to resolve any discrepancy within 90 days or be required to dismiss the employee or face up to $10,000 in fines for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.
But then, ethnocentric advocacy groups and some labor unions, trying to bolster their membership, sued to stop the crackdown on hiring illegal alien workers. A federal judge in California last week issued a temporary restraining order blocking the plan, giving a victory to the AFL-CIO, the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Immigration Law Center, all of which brought the suit alleging DHS exceeded its authority in making the rule.
That U.S. District Court judge ruled as if she were an employee of the Mexican government, rather than the U.S. government. Homeland Security was simply enforcing existing immigration laws. Are we not a nation that follows the rule of law? If not, we’re no country at all.
Calderon must have been delighted by the judge’s decision. Calderon, like his predecessors, Carlos Salinas and Vicente Fox, has failed miserably to establish policies that would create jobs for the Mexican people and to eliminate shameful, unchecked corruption and incompetence in the Mexican government.
Even by Mexico’s standards, Calderon’s blatant hypocrisy is breathtaking. Calderon told the Washington Post more than a year ago that he believes laws are not a relative concept, nor subject to a personal concept of justice. Calderon declared a big difference between himself and his rival for the Mexican presidency, Manuel Lopez Obrador, was this: “I believe in the rule of law.” Obviously he does not believe in the rule of U.S. law on U.S. soil.
Calderon can’t have it both ways. He cannot fail his citizens at home and then act as the Great Imperialist Protector of his citizens who are driven by poverty and corruption to enter the United States illegally. The United States provides Mexico with an annual surplus of $65 billion in trade, an estimated $25 billion in remittances from Mexican citizens living and working here illegally, and at least another $25 billion generated by the illegal drug trade across our southern border.
But it is President Bush and this Congress who should be most embarrassed, because they are failing to assert rights for Americans in their own country, rights far short of those demanded by Calderon for his citizens living illegally in our nation.
Ol’ Broad’s Household Hint of the Day
When you find yourself with leftover 2% milk, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate sauce, what better way to rid yourself of said offensive items than to make a chocolate milkshake? However, you might want to make sure you have a straw or two before creating the excessively fattening concoction. Otherwise, you just might end up wearing a bit of ice cold treat.
English!

Hints Of The Invasion…
In the four years she’s been a Justice Court judge, Nicki Boland has seen a dramatic change in Hinds County’s demographics.
More and more Spanish-speaking people are turning up in the courtroom, she said — many of them without any background in English and little understanding of legal proceedings in the United States.
In response, Boland said, “We need to hire someone who is bilingual at the very least. “Everyone has a right to understand the charges that have been brought against them… and I can’t move forward unless I know that they do.â€
From 2000 to 2006, the county’s Hispanic population increased by 33 percent, according to Census Bureau statistics.
Still, Justice Court — which is funded by the county — has no one employed who can speak Spanish and none of the court documents is translated, Boland said.
Nor should they! We speak English in this country, and unless, or until said criminals figure this out, it would be wise if they stuck to committing crimes in their own country!
Picture swiped, and a big H/T to Freedom Folks.
PBUH
Mohammad the Prophet Balloons
I think that these Mohammad (PBUH – Pig Be Under Him) balloons are pretty classy and people should get some for when the Muslims have parades and march around screaming about cartoons or some other crap that people think we should care about. I made this, BTW, in response to a picture that shows Osama bin Laden as Jesus which is pretty ironic because Jesus was a Jew and we know how the worshipers of the child molester feel about them.
Big Dog
Nice Folks

Tehran, Iran, Sep. 05 – Iranian authorities hanged 17 men on Wednesday, the latest in a spate of group executions.
State media said that the 17 were hanged in the north-eastern province of Khorassan Razavi.
“Following legal procedures, 17 individuals were hanged for drug smuggling in Khorassan Razavi province this morningâ€, state television reported.
Iranian authorities routinely execute dissidents on bogus charges such as armed robbery and drug smuggling.
What better way to rid yourself of those who oppose you. For someone who denies the Holocaust, he sure is doing his best to create his own.
Heh!
Don’cha just love annoying the libs?Â
Two Items
Yesterday, I came across two items about the Hildebeast that gave me pause.
Is Clinton’s candidacy blocking the “Path to 9/11?”
Screenwriter of docudrama says ABC exec said delay has been prompted by unflattering portrayal of previous administration.
With no date for the release, questions are being raised about whether political pressure is behind its current status as a stalled or discarded DVD project. The reasons are murky, but the miniseries’ writer, Cyrus Nowrasteh, believes it’s crystal clear: Powerful forces are out to protect Bill Clinton’s presidential legacy and shield Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) from any potential collateral damage in her bid for the White House.
Clinton Promises to Save Social Security
Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton promised retirees that if elected president she will not cut Social Security benefits, raise the retirement age or privatize the taxpayer-funded system.
The New York senator told the AARP’s legislative conference that she would bring a “renewed national commitment to Social Security” to the White House.
“This is the most successful domestic program in the history of the United States,” Clinton said to applause from seniors gathered in Washington to push their policy agenda. “When I’m president, privatization is off the table because it’s not the answer to anything.”
Other than the obvious, what connects these two stories? Arrogance. Plain and simple. Not to mention the desire to control! One is the desire to control the information the public gets, aka a reminder that Clinton wasn’t the brilliant president they claim.  And two, that gubmint, under her control is the answer to everything.
The more information a person has, a more informed decision he/she can make. Those like the Clintons do not want you to be informed. Too much knowledge on your part will open your eyes to reality.
The less government is involved in your life, the better your life will be. This goes for Social Security, which is NOT the “most successful domestic program”. It has become a crutch that too many people believe will save them from starvation and poverty in their old age. In reality, if a person doesn’t prepare for their own retirement, there is NO way they could live on the measly amount that is returned to them, after years of paying into the ‘fund’.

Germany arrests 3 over alleged attack plots
BERLIN – Three suspected Islamic militants were arrested on allegations of plotting “imminent†and “massive†attacks on facilities used by Americans inside Germany, authorities said Wednesday.
Note that they don’t say LUTHERAN militants.
South Dallas explosion knocks out power, traffic lights
An explosion and fire early Wednesday at an electrical substation left 3,000 customers without power and knocked out traffic lights in a wide area of downtown and South Dallas.
(…)
“For some reason, two of the lines coming out of the substation caught fire and burned to the ground,” Ms. Peters said. “Why, we’re not sure.
I can pretty much guarantee there were some seriously ticked off folks this morning.
Red Cross says Schalit’s kidnappers may allow a visit
The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross said Wednesday that Gilad Schalit’s kidnappers may permit representatives of the organization to visit him.
Well, isn’t that nice of them. Here’s a better thought! LET THE KID GO HOME!
Caucasus becomes a new hotbed of extremism
Increasingly extremist forms of jihadism are apparently not limited to the Middle East but are spreading globally. The jihadist trend in the Chechen resistance has become a concern not just for Russians but for the United States, as indicated by the invitation of several muftis from the North Caucasus for an official visit to the US.
North Caucasus extremism as part of a global jihadist network can provide a common interest between the US and Russia, despite the increasing chill in Russian-US relations. In fact, it can provide common ground for cooperation among most of the countries of Middle East, which are seen as mortal enemies by increasingly radicalized jihadis.
I’d say Putin has enough troubles in his own back yard to deal with, without of copping attitude with the U.S.
Rep. Skelton foresees trouble over Taiwan
Rep. Ike Skelton, the top House member on military affairs, has returned from a visit to China alarmed about the prospect of a U.S.-Chinese armed conflict over Taiwan.
Skelon, D-.Mo., led a congressional delegation to China that had nearly unprecedented access to top Chinese generals and their military equipment. He said Chinese officials made it clear that they were prepared to act if Taiwan’s president followed through on his threats to push a referendum item on the ballot authorizing him to seek membership for Taiwan at the United Nations.
Tiny little Taiwan sure does tick off great big China a lot. The Chinese should worry more about the appearance of them trying to poison children, world wide, than whether or not Taiwan wants to join the U.N. I can’t imagine why they’d even want to.
Debit Card of Missing Brigham Young University Student Used a Day After Her Disappearance
Cleverley was reported missing on Thursday by her roommates, according to investigators, and was last seen in the Provo area, where her campus is located. She vanished along with her bike before the holiday weekend and hasn’t been heard from since.
The chief of police cautioned against drawing any hasty conclusions, saying detectives hadn’t focused on any one theory as to what may have befallen the 22-year-old student.
Yes, it’s been noticed that another pretty young white girl with blond hair has disappeared. Notice you never hear this much about brunettes? Or pretty young black girls? Honestly, I hope she’s found safe and sound.
Residents protest at home of Coopertown sex offender
A group of protesters held signs Tuesday in front of the Coopertown home of a convicted sex offender who legally lives next to a day care and near two schools.
Charles Cornelius Sloan, 54, has lived at the home since 1989, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Sloan was charged with the attempted aggravated sexual battery of an 8-year-old girl in Davidson County in 1997. After being released in 2004, he resumed living at the residence, which is across the street from Coopertown Middle School, less than a mile from Coopertown Elementary School and beside a day care.
A sex offender living next to a day care center and they can’t make him move? I’m baffled.
Former presidential candidate pleased Fred Thompson entering race
Thompson is scheduled to officially announce his candidacy tomorrow via a webcast at ImwithFred.com. News reports say the announcement will be followed by a campaign tour that will take him to several early primary states. Gary Bauer of American Values is one conservative activist who has anticipated Thompson’s entry into the race for a long time. He believes the former Law and Order star has a good chance of picking up support from pro-family conservatives.
“I think pro-family, pro-life voters are all a little frustrated that they haven’t been able to find a viable candidate who can actually win the nomination and go on and win the election. And so I think a lot of those voters will be taking a hard look at Senator Thompson,” he says.
If Fred can deliver the message, create some excitement, and hope, then he should have things pretty well in hand.
