An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Lunch with Bob Corker
Around 11:15 this morning, Jr and I were sitting here, discussing the Constitution, when my phone rang. “Aren’t you coming to the lunch?” Lunch? I hadn’t even had breakfast yet, and she was talking about lunch? What lunch? “Bob Corker is going to be at the Uptown, which isn’t the Uptown anymore.” Uh huh. And I was suppose to know about this how? I thought about it for a second, and decided it would be a good learning experience for Jr. We threw ourselves together in record time, and headed into Savannah.
Senator Corker is a lot cuter in person than he on the idjit box or in pictures.Â
One of the things he said echoed Greenspan. The GOP deserved to lose in ’06, not because of Iraq, but because of the out of control spending that started early in the Bush presidency, and even before, during Clinton’s administration. He’s right! That being said, I hope the Republicans remember this next year!
The only thing I had a problem with was when he brought up the health care issue. It seems even he has a ‘plan’. I haven’t read it yet, but from the way it sounded, even given a ‘tax credit’, I don’t like it. Why on earth should anyone pay for someone else’s health care? Ok, like I said, I honestly don’t know what his plan is, but my thought….get the gubmint OUT of the health care business.
Other than that, it was a very pleasant afternoon, and I got a hug!Â

Yes, and if they don’t pull together in a conservative fashion, they will lose in ’08. To Hillary.
You know, with the party ‘gone south’ (in the sense of sensibilities, not the compass!) it might be time for the Republican Party to implode. You know the Democrats won’t do anything good for the country, and we’ll have troubles plenty, but it might take some of that to correct the misdirections.
Boortz was talking a little about this today. He stated (and I’m paraphrasing because I don’t remember exactly), “Everyone has a plan for healthcare because, 1. they know that there’s really nothing that they can do one way or another about it, 2. it will simply increase the scope and power of government and 3. because healthcare is important to ‘me’ it’s something that the leeches can glom onto and make the appearance of CARING about us.”

I agree. Last night was the AFA Values Voters debate. NOT present: Gulliani, McCain, Thompson, and Romney. Why should I bother to work for them, or work for them, when they don’t take conservative issues seriously?
That should be or vote for them. I haven’t had a full cup of coffee yet either.
I was rather surprised Thompson wasn’t there, but considering he’s making contact with the ‘common folk’ and there are just so many hours in a day……
