Bush Seeks New Image on Global Warming
President Bush’s call on Friday for a new fund to reduce global warming fell flat with Europeans and environmentalists who say U.N.-mandated cuts in greenhouse gases are what’s needed.
The Europeans are being led by the nose towards complete socialism (or Islamism if you prefer. yes, I know, not exactly the same thing), and they want to yank us along with them? I don’t bloody well think so! They can bow at the alter of the Useless Numnuts, but I for one, pray there are enough people right here in the USA who strong enough to stand up to them. Why should we care what they think! And they think we’re arrogant? Pfft!
To show he meant business, Bush designated his treasury secretary to talk to other nations about getting worldwide contributions to the fund. The money would pay for clean-energy projects in poor countries.
Uh, just which nations does Bush believe is going to be ‘contributing’? And which ONE will be sucking the most out of the taxpayers pockets? Lemme think a minute here…… Ummmm…..oh yeah….THE SAME ONE THAT ALWAYS FOOTS THE BILL! US!
In his speech, Bush acknowledged that climate change is real and that human activity is a factor.
Yeah, the climate changes…..regularly. Human activity? Well, if all these third world countries would stop procreating like flippin’ rabbits, and didn’t have gubmints so corrupt, perhaps THEY wouldn’t be creating so much body heat?
“By setting this goal, we acknowledge there is a problem, and by setting this goal, we commit ourselves to doing something about it,” he said. “We share a common responsibility: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while keeping our economies growing.”
By “we”, I guess he means the US taxpayers. When THEY figure out how to control the planet, let me know.
“There was lots of talk about mandatory caps,” said Yvo de Boer, the top U.N. climate official. “I don’t think it would have been realistic to expect at this first meeting to expect any country to change its position.”
He said he found Bush’s speech “encouraging because it indicates that the U.S. wants to develop this discussion among the major economies, get into the substance, including on the question of goals and the type of regime that’s appropriate, and then feed that into the larger U.N. process.”
No doubt, he saw $ signs. More money for the UN to mismanage.
Bush said his purpose was to begin setting a new worldwide goal for cutting carbon dioxide emissions after 2012 and to help developing nations pay for the changes that would be needed. The president said the reduction goal should be finished by next summer, along with ways to measure progress toward it.
I’d really like to know when the ‘world’ is going to start taking responsibility for themselves, and stop expecting everyone else to go along with their moonbat ideas. Throw all the money you want at a problem, you still have a very expensive problem.
Bush made clear, however, that he saw his talks as complementary to the U.N. negotiations over what will succeed the Kyoto treaty after 2012. U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon held a summit Monday to grease the wheels for an agreement in December in Bali, Indonesia. Bush has seemed more sensitive lately to perceptions in other parts of the world that the U.S. government either does not take the phenomenon of global warming seriously _ or seriously enough.
What I don’t take seriously is the constant ’sky is falling’ BS. In the great scheme of things, we (humans) are totally insignificant.
“Congress needs to lead. The president is not giving us the leadership we need. Ultimately what we need are mandatory caps,” Krupp said. “No air pollution problem in the world has ever been solved without having legal limits.”
Not much ‘leadership’ in Congress either, unless you count the time that has been wasted. REAL leadership on that one! (insert sarcasm here)
Until recently, said Emil Salim, an economist and member of the Indonesian president’s council of advisers, Bush offered “no dialogue on the Kyoto Protocol whatsoever. This time, the members of the Kyoto Protocol are invited to discuss. So from that point of view, there is some improvement,” he said in an interview. “But on the other hand, I think it has more to do with the domestic politics, because you have election.”
What’s to talk about? Best I can figure it out, the Kyoto is nothing more than a piece of paper. I don’t see those who signed it doing much of anything, but putting more restraints on their people. Has there been less pollution in those countries? Do they breath easier? More freely?
I honestly think the Numnuts should spend more time worrying about the slaughter of innocents than whether or not the earth’s temperature rises a degree or two.

Ooops
I promise the Mr. I would post this today, and just plum forgot! Sorry hunny!
I’m sure most folks in Wisconsin have already seen it, but there are those of us in the southern regions that don’t get to listen to Charlie on a regular basis, so didn’t catch the link on his site. :) Steve Gill is the morning guy down here. Besides…I’ve been REALLY busy lately.

Thinking Unladylike Words
Pelosi: Sadomasochistic Last Supper Ad Doesn’t ‘Harm’ Christianity
A controversial advertisement for a San Francisco festival that depicts the Last Supper as a sadomasochism party falls within the First Amendment and is not harmful to Christianity, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday.
The ad for the Folsom Street Fair - to be held in Pelosi’s district on Sunday and which is partly funded by San Francisco’s Grants for the Arts program, which is funded by the city’s hotel tax - sparked outrage from Christian groups because it mirrors Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous painting of “The Last Supper” but replaces Jesus and his apostles with scantily leather-clad men and women sitting at a table adorned with sex toys.
A spokesman for Pelosi told a San Francisco publication yesterday that the ad would not harm Christianity. Cybercast News Service put Pelosi herself on the spot at a news conference in the U.S. Capitol Friday. Here’s the exchange between the reporter and Pelosi.
CNSNews.com:”I’d like to get local for a second and talk about what’s going on in San Francisco. Your spokesman told the Bay Area Reporter that the Folsom Street Fair advertisement mocking the last supper would not harm Christianity. I’m wondering if you find the advertisement personally offensive.”
“And as a follow up, the city’s Grants for the Arts program, funded by the city’s hotel tax, subsidizes the fair. Do you think that it’s fair to tax everyone who visits San Francisco and stays in a hotel to support the fair?”
Pelosi: “Well that’s not really a local question. That’s a constitutional question. That’s a religious question. That’s as big a global question as you can ask. I’m a big believer in First Amendment and therefore, as I said in my statement, I do not believe that Christianity has been harmed by the Folsom Street Fair advertising.”
So Nanny….let me ask you this…..if that was Mohammad, and a few of his minions, would you still feel it’s a First Amendment issue? Would you say it was okie dokie then? Or would that be offensive? But because it involves Christianity, that’s ok, right?
Woman, you are the sleaziest excuse for a human being I’ve ever seen, and do not deserve the title of Speaker of the House of the United States of America!

Moonbat of India?
Rich must reduce emissions for poor to develop
Rich countries like the United States must reduce their carbon footprint to support poor nations who have no choice but to increase their emissions if they are to lift themselves out of poverty, a leading environmentalist said.
Say whut?
“Climate change is directly linked to economic growth,” Sunita Narain, an environmentalist who has taken on the government on issues from air pollution to waste management, told Reuters ahead of the Reuters Environment Summit next week.
Umm….no, climate change is directly linked to……THE CLIMATE!
“With climate change, we are looking at sharing the resources of the world and we are looking at bringing some justice in the way they are distributed — so the rich world has to reduce its emissions so that the poor world can increase theirs.”
Is this one of those “steal from the rich to give to the poor” scenarios? The west has to give it emissions to the poorer country? Sorry, where is the logic?
India, whose economy has grown annually by 8 to 9 percent in recent years, contributes around 4 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions as its consumption of fossil fuels gathers pace.
New Delhi says it must use more energy to lift its population out of poverty, something rich nations — which have burnt fossil fuels unhindered for a century — should understand.
Again…..say whut?
But the United States, which is one of the biggest polluters in the world, says it will not commit to emission targets until India and China do.
We already have too many regulations in place. All those boutique blends of gas that cause even more pollution, ethanol, which causes even MORE. Where does it end? It’s not our fault if third world countries have too many people, won’t pick up after themselves, and then whine that we aren’t doing enough to help them.
Narain, who heads the New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment, said the U.S. argument was “a petty game being played by petty politicians”.
“I think there is a lack of morality in the western world whose use of fossil fuels and emissions far outstrips a country like India or even China,” said Narain, who is known for her outspokenness.
I’ll go along with a ‘lack of morality’, but that has more to do with the lack of G-d in our society than fossil fuels.
Narain — who last year fought against major soft drinks manufacturers Pepsi and Coca-Cola accusing them of selling pesticide-contaminated drinks — said India had to set a responsible development agenda by keeping emissions low.
Yeah, I can see Pepsi and Coke working real hard to to ADD pesticides. If a company kills off consumers, who is going to buy their product?
Narain said India had failed to put its point across to the international community and needed to be more vocal.
“My biggest annoyance is that my own political leaders are not coming up to the challenge,” she said.
“They are not telling the West that our floods today are because of climate change, ‘our droughts are increasingly because of variable rainfall, our glaciers are melting and that we are going to send you the bill’.”
Seems to me that India has been having floods long before the West was…..well, the West. Blaming developed countries for the shortfalls of her own government is pretty pathetic.

Evil Birds
After Mr. Ol’ Broad took a shot at the marauding fowl before heading back north, I thought, perhaps, they had realized in their tiny little brains they were not welcome around here. I thought wrong. Even though they hadn’t put in an appearance, while we were home, they are evidently too stupid to figure it out.

I went and talked to the Chief of Police for our tiny town about my ‘problem’. I point blank asked him if I could shoot them without any repercussions. What he said….. “Well, I can’t tell you CAN shoot them…….”. He left it pretty open ended.
He did say I could legally relocate them. Yeah, big picture. I’m going to go out there in my jammies and cage the feathered devils. Uh huh.
He also told me he was well aware of the ‘owner’ of these critters. He had had run ins with him previously, and the man takes NO responsibility for his animals. He even refuses to actually claim them, even when it’s common knowledge who they belong to; horses, goats and birds….it just doesn’t seem to matter to him if they are killed, either on the highway, or elsewhere.
I really am getting tired of cleaning up after HIS animals.

Luckily, I ran them off before they could do even more damage. That pot USE to have flowers in it, before they killed them a few days ago. You should have seen THAT mess.
The cop told me the only legal recourse I have at the moment is a civil lawsuit. Lucky us. We have to battle with a fruitcake over HIS problem.
Jr told me, while I made a quick run to the store yesterday, that she chased off the goats.
I still think land mines, barbed wire and a shotgun should be legal.
