Brave Newark World

Delaware now requires nearly 7,000 students in its residence halls to adopt specific public university-approved (read: government-approved) views on issues ranging from race, to sexuality, to philosophy. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (see www.TheFire.org) is calling for the total dismantling of the program. Readers of this column should call (302-831-2111) or write president@udel.edu to Patrick Harker President of The University of Delaware asking him to do the same.
(…)
But, at Delaware, the RA who facilitates these meetings has already received his own training, including a “diversity facilitation training†session. There, he is taught that at “[a] racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality.â€
The Delaware RA is also taught that the term “reverse racism†is created by whites to deny their privilege. An official Delaware training manual says that “those in denial use the term reverse racism to refer to hostile behavior by people of color toward whites, and to affirmative action policies, which allegedly give ‘preferential treatment’ to people of color over whites.†Then, after defining the term “reverse racism†the manual claims that “there is no such thing as ‘reverse racism.’†Later, it says the non-existent term “reverse racism†is an example of “racism.â€
(…)
Students who express discomfort with the questioning often meet with disapproval from the RA, who often writes a report on the student and delivers it to a superior. One student was identified in a write-up as the “worst†one-on-one session stating that she was tired of “having diversity shoved down her throat.â€
According to the university materials, the goal of residence life education is for students in the university’s residence halls to achieve certain “competencies†that include statements like: “Students will recognize that systemic oppression exists in our society,†“Students will recognize the benefits of dismantling systems of oppression,†and “Students will be able to utilize their knowledge of sustainability to change their daily habits and consumer mentality.â€
If you were thinking about dishing out your hard earned money for you kid to attend the University of Delaware, I’d rethink those plans if I were you. I would also like to see any and all federal funding end. This is OUR money and should not be spent on schools trying to destroy the very freedoms that allow them to function.

Mitt Romney: I won’t let US go the way of UK
“The question is whether we’re going to become a stronger nation leading the world or whether we’re going to follow the path of Europe and become a second-tier military and a second-tier nation.” European countries had chosen to “become a wonderful nation but not the world’s power”.
Just peachy. Romney has pissed off the Brits. sigh… Oh well. Call ‘em as ya see ‘em! Closest ally or not, they have been over run by PC and are being destroyed from within. We seem to already be on that same path.
Thompson comes to Schwarzenegger Country to tout his own conservatism
Campaigning in Sacramento – where another actor-politician, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, has frustrated many Republicans with his centrist governance – Thompson picked up the endorsement of the state party’s leading conservative, Thousand Oaks Sen. and former gubernatorial candidate Tom McClintock.
McClintock, who has criticized Schwarzenegger as too liberal on health care, state spending and global climate change, Tuesday likened Thompson to former President and California Gov. Ronald Reagan. He declared that Thompson’s candidacy presents the promise of “morning again in America.”
Sheesh! Let’s face it. There is NOT going to be another Reagan! We can long for the ‘good ole days’, but they just ain’t gonna happen. Let’s look at what we’ve got, and go from there. Learn from yesterday, but look to tomorrow. Today’s problems weren’t even conceived when Reagan was President. We NEED someone who is strong enough to stand up to the jihadis and libs!
Felons issued gun hunting licenses
Law bars them from possessing guns but doesn’t prevent license purchase
An analysis of records from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Department of Natural Resources shows that at least 77 felons bought deer licenses last year. The actual number was likely higher because only one of every five Wisconsin hunters consented to release their names when applying for a license.
The felons identified served prison time for crimes as serious as armed robbery, rape and weapons violations. The situation can lead to some tense moments deep in Wisconsin’s forests when unsuspecting wardens encounter armed hunters with dangerous criminal histories.
Well, that’s right smart. Bar law abiding citizens from carry personal protection, but let convicted violent offenders traipse off into the woods to hunt. Uh huh. Very bright.
U.S., Japan question four Marines accused in alleged gang-rape
The Marines remain in U.S. custody and have been held in confinement cells on the air station since a woman filed allegations with Japanese authorities that the men raped her early on the morning of Oct. 14.
“The matter is still under investigation,†Canedo said. “The Japanese are continuing with their investigation, and we are cooperating fully.â€
Last week, the Kyodo news service quoted anonymous sources saying Japanese investigators would not seek arrest warrants due to “ambiguities†in the woman’s testimony.
Sadly, whether they are guilty or not, the Marines are being tarnished again.
Al-Hariri claims plot to kill him
The son of Rafiq al-Hariri, a former Lebanese prime minister assassinated in 2005, says he has evidence of a Syrian plot to kill him.
Saad al-Hariri, who is the country’s parliamentary majority leader, said he also believed Fouad Siniora, Lebanon’s present prime minister, was threatened.
Al-Hariri made the comments after talks with Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president, on Tuesday.
Of course, Syria denies the charge. Seems if you speak out against them, in any way, there is a bullseye on your butt. So, what is the Useless Numnuts going to do about a credible threat? Zip. Zero. Nada. Just like they always do.
N.C. senator re-enters race for Dole’s seat
“I’ve had a change of heart. I’m throwing my hat into the ring and going forward,” she said.
Hagan’s entry in the race comes a week after fellow Democratic contender Jim Neal, a Chapel Hill corporate financial adviser, said he is gay. Hagan said Neal’s sexual orientation wasn’t a factor in her decision to seek the Democratic nomination in next May’s primary.
“My decision has nothing to do with any candidate I may face in the primary,” Hagan said. “It was my decision. Period.”
Uh huh.
Despite leaving nutrition services at Memphis City Schools in shambles, former director James Jordan received a severance package after he resigned Oct. 11.
Jordan, who has been accused in a preliminary internal audit of numerous management failures that ultimately resulted in a one-year loss of nearly $3.7 million at the district’s Central Nutrition Center, received 20 days of pay worth $8,794.72, district officials confirmed.
Whatever idiot signed off on that check should be canned!
Iraq to sue foreign security contractors
Iraq’s cabinet on Tuesday backed a draft law to make foreign security contractors liable to prosecution, amid continuing controversy over the behaviour of Blackwater and other security companies in the country.
The bill still has to be approved by Iraq’s fractious parliament, but legislators said support would be likely, since the issue has inflamed Iraqi political and public opinion.
I reckon it might just be time to yank the folks out, along with all the funding the U.S. taxpayers has been spending on THEIR black hole of a country. Time to step up and protect your own sorry asses!
Accused Madrid bomb mastermind acquitted
One of the accused masterminds of the 2004 Madrid terror bombings was acquitted of all charges Wednesday by a Spanish court in the culmination to a politically divisive trial over Europe’s worst Islamic militant terror attack.
Rabei Osman, a 35-year-old Egyptian, allegedly bragged during a wiretapped phone conversation that the attacks, which killed 191 people and wounded more than 1,800, were his idea. Twenty-eight people were charged in the attacks.

Boy started blaze, L.A. County says
“We have identified a juvenile boy as the person who started the fire,” said Steve Whitmore, a department spokesman. “Arson investigators interviewed the young man, and he acknowledged he had been playing with matches and accidentally started a fire.”
The boy was released to the custody of his parents. The case has been turned over to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. The only other information Whitmore provided was that investigators concluded the fire was sparked by an individual the day after it began but that it took more time to link the blaze to the boy.
I am speechless. A kid. All that damage.
A Clarification
Veterans Affairs clarifies limits on flag-folding recitations
WASHINGTON- The Veterans Affairs Department has clarified a directive limiting the use of a religious recitation at flag-folding ceremonies.
Last month, a senior VA official told directors of the agency’s 125 cemeteries not to distribute or post nongovernment handouts on “The Meaning of Each Fold of an Honor Guard Funeral Flag.”
The memo also said the handout should not be recited at graveside services by cemetery workers or by VA-sponsored volunteer honor guards. The recitations include references to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
After an uproar among some veterans and Republican House members, a VA spokeswoman now says volunteer honor guards may recite any text requested by next of kin.
That makes a bit more sense.
