Barbour earns second term as Miss. governor

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi’s Republican governor, Haley Barbour, won his second term tonight, quickly outdistancing his Democratic opponent, attorney John Arthur Eaves Junior.

Barbour withstood the after effects of Hurricane Katrina that wiped out other politicians, campaigning on recovery and job creation.

Eaves spent millions in a mostly self-funded campaign.

He often quoted Scripture to criticize Barbour’s connections to what Eaves called “moneychangers” – big oil, tobacco and insurance companies.

Honestly, I was starting to find the Eaves commercials a little creepy.
