So Far, So Good

We made it to Vicksburg, all in one piece.  Extremely hungry too.  We had stopped in Corinth hoping to have breakfast before we started the longer stretch, and sat there for 45 minutes AFTER we had ordered.  No food.  We finally got up and left.

Jr had her head set on Waffle House, so got a to-go omelet from Waffle House.  Mr Ol’ Broad and I headed to the casino, where we had a pleasant dinner….together…..alone……quiet!  Then proceeded to lose some money.  Oh well, can’t take it with ya, right?

Priceless!

From Michael Yon:

Here’s a news flash for Osama bin Laden, who earlier today released a call “ to guerrilla forces in Mesopotamia. ”

I have directly observed how more and more Iraqis have grown to hate al Qaeda as much as Americans do. Al Qaeda has lost all credibility there, both from a religious standpoint as well as strategically. Even Western media seems to be gradually awakening to the realization that al Qaeda press releases on the topic of Iraq are about as well-informed as the post-invasion rantings of Baghdad Bob. (Everytime Osama bin Laden talks of crushing the infidel, I can’t help but think of Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf pointing vigorously skyward and practically spitting at the reporters: “We are crushing the American army as we speak!”)

Al Qaeda terrorists can continue to murder Iraqis and Americans at the behest of Osama, but their tactics will only backfire. Osama will no more own Iraq than he will own America. His is a lost cause.  Not because of decisive military defeats, (although these have helped) but because decent Iraqi people from all quarters, sects and regions of Iraq have had enough of his people cutting off heads of children.

It’s understandable that this turn of events might come as news to Osama, because he cannot set foot in Iraq for fear of his life. Osama is welcome to prove this wrong by visiting Basra, Baghdad or Mosul.  Iraqis and Americans will welcome Osama in these cities.

Heh.

Ok, we haven’t left yet. Jr and I are waiting on the Mr….if you can believe THAT. Two females…..ready….one male….not ready. Heh.

So, I’m perusing a few blogs, and come across this:

The Privatization Myth

If you have some time, it’s well worth your while. Nick Schweitzer is mostly brilliant, even if he is a libertarian, and …..sigh….a Ron Paul supporter.

A snippet:

It should come as no surprise that even when privatizing something, the government doesn’t actually privatize anything. Instead, it retains ultimate control over something, but allows a private entity, or non-profit organization, to administer whatever it is we’re talking about under the “proper supervision” of the government that used to do it all. It’s the ultimate compromise where nobody gets what they want, and things usually end up worse than they started. The liberal half are generally upset because government lost some of its control, and the conservative half are upset because government still has some control. In other words, if nobody is happy, then politicians think that they did something right.

Go. Read. Be enlightened.

Since we’ll be spending day light hours in the car, it’s going to be a tad difficult to do any posting.  I don’t have a satellite on the end of my antenna ya know.  Besides, I do all the driving anyway….I’m a terrible passenger.  We could make it in one day, IF we went through Arkansas.  I don’t like driving through Arkansas….a whole state of Chicago style drivers.  So, we are heading to Vicksburg, maybe do a little slot action, leave Jr in the motel room naturally, and then on to Dallas tomorrow to have ‘Christmas’ with the Brat, Ick, and Short Person.  We’ll stick around for Brat’s birthday, and pick up some papers I need from the courthouse.  Gee, doesn’t that sound like fun?  :)

I wish we had time to do some sight seeing in Vicksburg.  I’ve never been there, other than to drive through.  Oh well, maybe on the way back, I can indulge my touristy side.

Yep, it doesn’t seem to matter what we do, those damn birds are bound and determined to make my life a living hell!

We’re trying finish getting packed, and the car loaded up so we can head out, and these evil fowl must make an appearance.  It seems there is one of the females is missing.  No, not the two the Mr dispatched, another one.  There were only four twanging my last nerve this morning.  I wonder if someone else has gotten sick of their consistent destruction, or Mr Red Truck let them get out in the road.  Not the first time he’s done something like that.  Anyone who intentionally leaves his gate open and allow HORSES to roam around on the highway, has serious issues.  We did the deceased duo a favor!
