Tax Rebate or Payment? A Policy Debate Begins

Administration officials and Republican lawmakers say it only makes sense to give tax rebates to people who actually paid taxes.

“You have to be a taxpayer in order to get a tax rebate,” said Representative Paul D. Ryan, Republican of Wisconsin and a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. “The White House is very clear that this is for people who pay taxes.”

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, will have the lefties all up in arms. “Why don’t I get any money? It ain’t fair!” Well, if ya don’t pay taxes, ya don’t get a ‘refund’. In reality, it’s not a refund. It’s the money a person overpaid the gubmint to do a job they don’t do (like build a fence). Of course, there’s a lot more involved, but one example is enough. However, if they really want to stimulate the economy…..they need to get the hell out of the way!

Icy Conditions Feared in Southern States, Louisiana Declares Freeze Watch

ATLANTA — Meteorologists warned the mixture of rain and snow that fell across the South a day earlier could make for icy roads early Sunday, with overnight temperatures in the upper teens and low 20s.

On Saturday, snow, rain and sleet spread across parts of the region, dusting lawns and shrubs with flakes and leading airlines to cancel several hundred flights.

It’s cold here, in Middle TN (the digital thingy said 6 at 9am), but thankfully, we haven’t had the really nasty stuff.

Dark side of a hot biofuel

We live in a world of wanna-be-green commerce, of guilt-ridden citizens eager to protect nature, shrink their carbon footprints and free themselves from Middle East oil. But not every new fuel and eco-friendly product soothes the planet. Some are saddled with environmental baggage of their own, with not-so-obvious links to pollution, climate change and deforestation.

The “I wanna FEEL good” lefties would destroy the planet to “save” it. What hypocrisy!

Senators never missed a vote

Democratic Sens. Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold were two of 10 senators with perfect voting attendance records last year.

Those are two who I wish HAD missed some votes!

Hillary, Obama dispute Nevada win

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won the most votes during the Democratic caucuses here yesterday, but Sen. Barack Obama claimed a narrow national convention delegate victory.

With 98 percent of precincts reporting, Mrs. Clinton had captured 51 percent of the vote, while Mr. Obama had won 45 percent. But Mr. Obama claimed he won 13 delegates — one more than Mrs. Clinton — because of the proportional way Nevada awards delegates.

And I don’t give a happy crap! Neither are right for the job!

Hackers could gain control of power grid, CIA warns

In a rare public warning to an industry, a CIA analyst last week said cyber attackers have hacked into the computer systems of utility companies outside the United States and made demands, in at least one case causing a power outage that affected multiple cities.

“We do not know who executed these attacks or why, but all involved intrusions through the Internet,” Tom Donahue, the CIA’s top cybersecurity analyst, said last week at a trade conference in New Orleans.

I’m going to show my ignorance here. If the hackers get through on the internet, why are these utilities connected to the internet. Wouldn’t it work with an internal system, without being connected to the rest of the world?

Ministers call to assassinate Hizbullah leader Nasrallah

Several ministers called for the assassination of Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, one day after the guerilla leader claimed to possess the body parts of IDF soldiers who fought during the Second Lebanon War.

“We shouldn’t be afraid of Nasrallah, we should eliminate him,” Internal Affairs Minister Meir Sheetrit (Kadima) said.

Well, that was really stupid! Ya don’t announce to the world something like that…you just do it! I’m really surprised that some Israeli politicians are getting to be more like the Dhimmis. Now, if that POS falls over dead from a heart attack, the Israelis will be blamed and all hell will break loose.

FBI denies file exposing nuclear secrets theft

Edmonds, a 37-year-old former Turkish language translator, listened into hundreds of sensitive intercepted conversations while based at the agency’s Washington field office.

She says the FBI was investigating a Turkish and Israeli-run network that paid high-ranking American officials to steal nuclear weapons secrets. These were then sold on the international black market to countries such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

One of the documents relating to the case was marked 203A-WF-210023. Last week, however, the FBI responded to a freedom of information request for a file of exactly the same number by claiming that it did not exist. But The Sunday Times has obtained a document signed by an FBI official showing the existence of the file.

Why does a foreign publication get access to the U.S.’s business?

State of the state not so great going into 2008

On Wednesday, Gov. Jim Doyle will unveil his vision for Wisconsin in his annual State of the State address.

His address comes during challenging times for Wisconsin, as a number of indicators suggest the state of the state this year is not so great.

“The challenge of the governor of the state is does he have a plan, some good ideas on how to get the state in the right direction that the state can afford and can succeed?” said David Littig, an associate professor emeritus of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

“That’s really going to be the struggle, and the confidence of people with state government is at an all-time low.

I don’t suppose it’s ever occurred to the people their confidence in the gubmint is low BECAUSE of Doyle? If he really cared about the direction, perhaps he should get his WEAC buds out of the state’s business? Better yet, step down! Just a thought.

District spent $1.5 million on trips, catering

Despite promises to scale back travel and other nonessential expenses, Detroit Public Schools spent more than $1.5 million on hotels, travel and catered meals in the year that ended Sept. 1.

That’s comparable to what the district spent on food and travel during a similar time frame in 2005-2006. After the Free Press uncovered those expenses last February, school officials pledged they would rein in such spending. The expenses outraged parents and teachers in the cash-strapped district.

I’d like to know why a school district needs to have ANYTHING catered. What kind of trips did they take? What is wrong with this picture! If they have to travel, what’s wrong with Super 8, or Motel 6, or even Holiday Inn? Do they have to stay in a DoubleTree? Those suckers are expensive!

Suzanne Pleshette dies at 70

Suzanne Pleshette, the husky-voiced star best known for her role as Bob Newhart’s sardonic wife on television’s long-running “The Bob Newhart Show,” has died at age 70.

Pleshette, whose career included roles in such films as Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” and in Broadway plays including “The Miracle Worker,” died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein, also a family friend.

R.I.P. I always liked her.

Officers find guns on school campus

JACKSON, Tenn. — Two high school students are in custody after police found three guns in their cars in the school parking lot.

Police said one student brought the guns to sell on Friday. Authorities don’t believe the students intended to use the guns at Liberty Technology Magnet High School.

Ever wonder why a high school kid would feel the ‘need’ to have a gun? Does it make them feel ‘cool’, or is it for protection? and how stupid do you have to be to steal said guns from your own family to sell?

Election expert says McCain appeals ‘across the board’ to GOP voters

South Carolina political scientist Dr. Brent Nelson says the Republican presidential race is now John McCain’s to lose.

Dr. Nelsen — of Furman University — says Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) proved with his win over Mike Huckabee in South Carolina that he has strength across the board with GOP voters. He says the veteran senator was able to accomplish many of the goals he set in the state.

Proof that it is no longer the party of conservatism, if it ever really was.

The Republican Party is a sick joke, and the people of this country are fed up with them.
From Nixon to Bush, and from Scooter to Larry “Toilet Stall” Craig, the Republicans have proven themselves to be a bunch of lying, corrupt, evil, perverted, over-spending crooks.
When you look at all the money Bill Clinton left this country, it makes us all cry to know that Bush spent it all.
When the money was gone, Bush went to China for help.
Just think, we owe money to China!
    That is the Bush way.
    Cheney is no better.
You can’t trust either of them.
    No one does.
    Why are we in Iraq?
The war should be on terror, not in Iraq.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and yet Bush has spent all that money to fight “his” war.
Yes his, because many Republicans have backed off from the war.
By the way, the war in Iraq has cost the U.S. almost five hundred billion dollars.
    Forget Rudy.
    Rudy Giuliani is no hero.
While he is often called the hero of 9/11, the truth is that Rudy was a terrible leader during his years as mayor of New York City.
He made bad decisions and took a girlfriend while being married.
In fact, he even wanted his lover to live in the same house with his wife.
Most people would call this perverted.
New Yorkers were so sick of his antics, that they wanted him out of office.
    Then came 9/11.
The only reason people call Giuliani a hero today, is because he just happened to be NYC’s mayor during that bad time.
Any mayor would be looked at as a hero if they showed their face under those circumstances.
If there was no 9/11, Rudy would have become a joke.
This is not the kind of leader we want in the White House. In closing, the New York Post reported in their paper on April 23, that Giuliani spent more than 48,000 dollars of campaign money on posh hotels while claiming to have spent the least of all the Republican candidates.
Rudy is a good time leader, and does it with other people’s money.
    Forget Mitt.
    His ads look bad.
He can’t seem to get his facts right, and will say things to make himself look good.
Red flags go up around him.
I spoke with his son Tagg at the New Hampshire debates back in June (2007), and while he seemed like a nice man, Tagg could not get his facts right either.
The worst Republican as of late, though, is Larry Craig.
He is a lying pervert who wanted gay sex with a strange man on a dirty toilet seat.
He pled guilty, then said he was not guilty.
    Say what?
    He is another Republican moron.
Did you hear about Washington State Republican Rep. Richard Curtis?
He offered $1,000 to a young man for unprotected sex while dressed in women’s lingerie.
This sort of thing just goes on and on with them.
    Remember Mark Foley?
Here is a letter I wrote that was in many newspapers and Web sites:

Once again, the Republicans have turned my stomach with shocking and repulsive behavior.
Mark Foley, a Republican member (now ex-member) of Congress, has sent many e-mails with perverted sexual content to a sixteen year old boy.
This is the same man who while in Congress, backed a bill that was meant to protect children from child predators.
Foley himself, is a man who preyed on a child with lust.
What is also incomprehensible, is the fact that some Republicans knew of Foley’s behavior, and yet, did not take a hard stand against this until it became public news. If I had a teenage son and/or daughter, I would not want them to go near any Republican leader for fear of either or both becoming a victim of a sick Republican pervert.

    George Vreeland Hill

There were more than three hundred such letters in newspapers in 2007 alone.
Many of them in New Hampshire.
There are thousands on the Internet.
    No lie.
    THOUSANDS!
This does not even include articles, ads, radio, TV and other areas where the public takes notice.
In fact, one Republican in California wanted me stopped once, because I was hurting some Republicans in their elections.
I just want to do my part in helping to get rid of every Republican scumbag.
From phone scams to the Union Leader (NH) covering up for Republicans, the garbage never ends.
But the Republican Party will end.
Did you know that George W. Bush once made fun of the issue of Weapons of Mass Destruction?
He did, and in front of some shocked people during a black-tie event in 2004.
He said…. (While looking under a piece of furniture) “Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere.”
Then, while pretending to look out of a window, Bush laughed as he said….. “Nope, no weapons over there.”
While he was laughing, there were men and women fighting and dying in Iraq because of WMD.
George W. Bush should be removed from office because of that alone.
Face it, Bill Clinton lied about having sex, and was impeached because of it.
George W. Bush however, did far worse, as he laughed at the very people who are fighting for the United States of America!
That about sums it all up!
(By the way, this Bush/WMD was part of an article and letter I wrote as well.)
This leads us to John McCain.
All he seems to do is attack other candidates.
His Woodstock ad against Hillary Clinton was boring and without the facts.
He tells of Hillary wanting to spend a million dollars on a museum while he (McCain) supports spending more on the war in Iraq.
He wants you to believe that the Democrats are the big spenders, while it is McCain’s Republican Party that has spent all the money Bill Clinton left us to a point where Bush had to borrow money from China.
    Think about that again.
    We owe to China.
    That is the Republican way.
Also, it must be noted that McCain even laughed at war.
Remember when McCain changed the words of a Beach Boys song to Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Iran?
McCain even laughed when he was done.
He thought starting a war with Iran was a laughing matter.
That is the real John McCain.
    He just can’t be trusted.
He is another George Bush, and you know what we got with him.
The Republican Party is a mess, and getting worse.
People do not trust any of them, and we are all tired of their act.
I am doing my best to make sure that no Republican wins an election.
    Thank you for your time.

    George Vreeland Hill

That money you claim Billy boy left in the coffers was projected funds…if the tax rate had stayed where it was, with no increase in spending.

Other than that….you have some serious issues, don’cha! I notice you didn’t criticize Queen Nanny’s most recent fiasco, to name just one on the other side of the aisle. How ’bout Barney Frank, and his live in love who ran a house of ill repute? If you are going to berate D.C. insiders, you better get ‘em all! Because BOTH sides suck!

  3. Israel SHOULD kill Nasrallah. 20 January 2008, 8:19 pm

Israel should stop waisting time and kill the scumbag Nasrallah, yatbekh el khanzir!

  4. olbroad. 20 January 2008, 9:38 pm

    Uh….ok.
