Kennedy Plans to Back Obama Over Clinton

Senator Edward M. Kennedy intends to endorse the presidential candidacy of Senator Barack Obama during a rally on Monday in Washington, associates to both men confirmed, a decision that squarely pits one American political dynasty against another.

Caroline Kennedy: Obama would be ‘a president like my father’

“Most of us would prefer to base our voting decision on policy differences,” she writes. “However, the candidates’ goals are similar… So qualities of leadership, character and judgment play a larger role than usual.” She believes Obama has demonstrated these qualities both in the Senate and in Illinois where he was an elected state official for eight years.

And how ’bout a rousing WHO GIVES A HAPPY CRAP?

Former Sen. Majority Leader Howard Baker endorses John McCain

Former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker has endorsed John McCain for president.

Baker was influential in convincing fellow Tennessean Fred Thompson to run and was an honorary national chair on his campaign.

Baker, who ran unsuccessfully for president in 1980, was also Ronald Reagan’s chief of staff and recently served as the U.S. ambassador to Japan.

In a statement released Saturday, McCain said Baker gave up his own political aspirations to join Reagan’s staff and guided the president’s tax cuts during the 1980s. McCain pledged to continue the Reagan tradition that Baker served.

A spokesman for Baker said the former Tennessee senator would make a statement later.

I am baffled!  The man convince a conservative to run for POTUS, then when he drops out, turns around and endorse McFeingold?  Makes NO sense!

Don’t treat the old and unhealthy, say doctors

Doctors are calling for NHS treatment to be withheld from patients who are too old or who lead unhealthy lives.

Smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese and the elderly should be barred from receiving some operations, according to doctors, with most saying the health service cannot afford to provide free care to everyone.

One thing people seem to miss……IT’S NOT FREE! Someone is paying for it. That ‘someone’ would be the taxpayers!

Fertility treatment and “social” abortions are also on the list of procedures that many doctors say should not be funded by the state.

What, pray tell, is a “social” abortion?

The findings of a survey conducted by Doctor magazine sparked a fierce row last night, with the British Medical Association and campaign groups describing the recommendations from family and hospital doctors as “outrageous” and “disgraceful”.

Not being able to get medical care IS disgraceful, and this is what they want to bring to us, courtesy of the socialists.

Obesity costs the British taxpayer £7 billion a year. Overweight people are more likely to contract diabetes, cancer and heart disease, and to require replacement joints or stomach-stapling operations.

Perhaps if they didn’t have socialized medicine, it wouldn’t cost the taxpayer so bloomin’ much?

One in three said that elderly patients should not be given free treatment if it were unlikely to do them good for long. Half thought that smokers should be denied a heart bypass, while a quarter believed that the obese should be denied hip replacements.

Is this the kind of care you want?

Another lefty rag, aka newspaper, comes out for Clinton and McCain.

Clinton, McCain best prepared

America faces daunting challenges as the Bush era draws to a close.

Only through strong, credible White House leadership can the United States restore financial security to the middle class, reduce the massive debt load, improve health care, counter the continuing threat of terrorism and reverse the astonishing loss of international respect.

By next Jan. 20, inauguration day for the new president, America could be in a far better position to reach those goals, if the right choices are made in the voting booth.

In Tennessee and Arkansas, that process will begin Feb. 5 when voters visit the polls for the Democratic and Republican presidential primaries.

Among Democrats, The Commercial Appeal recommends New York Sen. HILLARY CLINTON as the candidate who is best prepared to take on America’s challenges. Republicans have an excellent choice in Arizona Sen. JOHN McCAIN.

Is it any wonder that a good chunk of the citizenry in this country are totally clueless? Shouldn’t someone tell the Commercial Appeal editorial board that NO good has ever come out of government control of anything? Do they not look at the number of Brits dying while waiting for medical treatment? Have they never noticed the large number of Canadians crossing the boarder because their own socialistic health care system has failed them?

Financial security will come only when the government gets out of the way! The “massive debt load” will be reduced when CONGRESS stops spending like drunken sailors! The POTUS can only veto, and then be overridden by the feckless weasels who haunt those hallowed halls.

You want international respect? That’s what’s important? Well, stop being a bunch of panty waisted felines. If we stood strong, UNITED, we would have respect. Instead, we have rags like yours, whining and moaning about some poor little terrorists, who would just as soon cut your head off as look at you.

I guess being overrun by ILLEGAL aliens is ok too? Paying for their medical care, their education, and their room and board, when they get busted for drug trafficking, or child molestation, or drunk driving, etc., is just peachy, right?

Do Not Call registry targets nuisance political calls

People can register one phone number for free on the Web site www.stoppolitical calls.org.

For a cost of $1.24, people can become charter members, which allows them to register multiple numbers, e-mail addresses and mailing addresses. They can also identify which candidates they would want to hear from and their preferred means of communication.

The registry then sells the information to political campaigns, but only if they promise not to call anyone on the list except those who want to be contacted, Dakin said.

Gee, Mr. Candidate, will you pinky promise? Yeah….big picture! Pfft!

Obama wins big in S. Carolina

Sen. Barack Obama trounced Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in South Carolina’s Democratic primary yesterday, a major victory heading into a 22-state showdown Feb. 5, when 79 percent of the party’s convention delegates are up for grabs.

Mr. Obama matched Mrs. Clinton with his second win in the nominating contests by taking 55 percent, or 295,091 votes, to Mrs. Clinton’s 27 percent, or 141,128 votes, with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

“Trounced”, eh? Heh.

Son charged in Gibson woman’s death

He has not admitted to killing his mother, Arnold said. “He just said that she died,” Arnold said.

A copy of Climer’s arrest warrant was not available because the court was closed Saturday. But Arnold summarized that the warrant states Climer told police in a video interview that he decapitated and dismembered the body of his mother. Climer voluntarily led officers to the remote location where the remains were found and personally pointed out where he’d buried her, Arnold said.

There’s something real wrong with a person who could cut up his own mother. Whether or not he killed her, no clue, but cutting her up like a chicken? Blech!

In these villages, Sunnis and Shiites agree

After years of fighting, two villages in Diyala province — one Shiite, the other Sunni — have agreed to a U.S.-brokered peace deal.

The agreement took place Thursday between about 50 village elders from the Shiite village of Little Barwana and the Sunni village of Big Barwana. Although small in scope, the deal represents a significant step toward reconciling Iraq’s majority Shiites and minority Sunnis in Diyala province, according to U.S. military officers.

No offense, but I wonder how long it’ll last? A week? A month? Maybe, even a year or two? Then will it be back to killing as usual?

Israel to restore Gaza fuel supply with immediate effect

In its response to petitions submitted by two human rights groups to the High Court of Justice protesting the ongoing fuel sanctions against the Gaza Strip, the state announced Sunday that effective immediately, the fuel supply to the Gaza Strip will be restored.

And nothing has been accomplished. There will still be rockets flying and innocents killed. Israelis will still be under a non stop attack. I wonder if those so called human rights groups ever consider the violence that the Israelis have had to endure? Doubtful. “Human rights” my ass!

Palestinian radical founder dies

Habash died of a heart attack, one of his former colleagues said. He was around 80 years old.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called three days of national mourning.

Under Habash’s leadership the PFLP became known as one of the most radical Palestinian militant groups, notorious for plane hijackings.

In September 1970 it captured four airliners, later blowing them up in front of the world’s cameras, once the passengers had been removed.

I fairly sure he’ll see the same amount of peace he granted, on the other side, which is none.

Traditional marriage speakers get chilly response in Vermont

Guest speakers brought in by a group opposed to same-sex marriage get an earful from an audience mostly sympathetic to that idea.

The Vermont Marriage Advisory Council organized last Saturday’s event at the University of Vermont and brought in speakers from two national groups opposed to same-sex marriage.

Jeeez! It’s Vermont! What did they expect? This is the same state that doesn’t seem to have a problem with child predators!

Indiana Boys Left With Bleeding Tongues After Licking Flagpole

Gavin Dempsey and James Alexander were serving on flag duty at Jackson Elementary School Friday morning, with the job of raising and lowering the school’s flags. They decided to see if their tongues really would stick to the cold metal.

“I decided to try it because I thought all of the TV shows were lies, but turns out I was wrong,” Gavin said.

Karen Alexander, James’ mother , said her son told her he got the idea from the movie, which is based on stories about a boy growing up in the northwest Indiana community of Hammond in the 1940s.

“I can’t believe he did it, but they learned their lesson,” she said.

……………………………………………………………………………………………….. Ok, so maybe it isn’t all that funny.

Yes. Yes, it is!

Latest Kenya Ethnic Clashes Kill 69

Gangs armed with machetes and bows and arrows burned and hacked to death members of a rival tribe in western Kenya Sunday, as the death toll from the latest explosion of violence over disputed presidential elections rose to 69.

Some 55 bodies were counted Sunday at the morgue in Nakuru, the provincial capital where ethnic clashes erupted Thursday night and continued until Saturday. Bodies continued arriving Sunday, said a morgue attendant who spoke on condition of anonmyity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Houses were blazing in the tourist gateway town of Naivasha, 55 miles northwest of Nairobi, where at least nine people were killed, according to the count of a local reporter. A local newspaper reporter saw another five bodies Sunday in two slums on the outskirts of Nakuru, called Kaptembwa and Sewage.

Odds are, tourism has dropped dramatically!

Separating Iran from regional states, objective of Bush’s tour

In an interview with Al-Jazeera Television, he said, “In case of US invasion of Iran, the US forces will be targeted by Iran’s long-range missiles.” “After the US authorities found out that their attempt to separate Iran from its neighboring countries, particularly the Muslim Arab states, were in vain, and following President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s successful visit to the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, the US president decided to come to the region to lobby for his own policy,” the commander added.

Now, why would we “invade”? All we have to do is do a little carpet bombing, problem solved. Actually, it sounds more to me like they are making excuses to attack us.
