Democrats: Time running out ‘to solve our problems’

“The new Democratic majority of Congress and the vast majority of Americans are ready — ready to chart a new course,” she said, adding that restoring America’s status in the world and improving the fight against terrorism would not have to wait for a new president if “more Republicans in Congress stand with us this year.”

If “more Republicans in Congress” stand with the Dhimmis, I’d wager they won’t be standing there much longer. They’ll be back home, hiding in disgrace!

Rivals Clinton, Obama united against Bush

They may be at their tersest standoff yet, but rival presidential hopefuls Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama were united on one thing last night: Their disdain for President George W. Bush’s State of the Union message.

The common ground ended there. Though they passed near each other as they entered the House of Representatives where Bush spoke, Clinton and Obama did not greet each other. Nor did they speak when they crossed paths earlier in the Senate.

I’m no Obama fan, but I gotta tell ya, even though he is younger than her, HE is the one who has been behaving more like a grown up! And I hope he whups her butt in the primaries. :)

Challenge on earmarks aimed at ‘08 Democrats

President Bush last night drew a line in the sand on “pork-barrel” spending that puts the presidential field on the spot and creates an election-year fight on an issue that unites Republicans but splits the Democratic presidential candidates.

Mr. Bush”s plan to severely limit earmarks, Washington-speak for pet projects, and to ignore the ones hidden in reports that aren’t even voted on will begin with the 2009 budget process and forces the candidates to say whether they will enforce it.

Sneaking in multi-million dollar pork projects and being called on it, scares the bejabbers out of politicians. GOOD! They need to be scared. Decades of free spending of OUR money on useless crap has got to stop!

Congress unlikely to buy Bush proposals

A Democratic Congress is poised to heed President Bush’s call to help save the economy, but may not give him much else after a State of the Union speech that recycled many of the administration’s past initiatives.

A lame duck president called again for immigration reform, an end to lawmakers’ pet projects, control of Social Security spending and making tax cuts permanent. Democrats have rejected those Bush initiatives before.

Gee, ya think the AP might be a tad BIASED? Evidently, I paid a little closer attention than I thought, or the AP. Yes, he had brought up a few of those topics previously, but Congress doesn’t like the idea of saving taxpayer money, so they automatically reject it. With a POTUS that has misplaced his veto pen on too many occasions to count, they felt they had free reign. Maybe now, IF he sticks to his guns, that pen will get some serious use, and they’ll get the message? We shall see.

Bush: Time has come for peace in Israel

“The time has come for a Holy Land where a democratic Israel and a democratic Palestine live side by side in peace,” he said.

Bush said that despite the efforts of extremists, there was still a great deal of hope in the region. He said that Palestinians had chosen a president who understands the vital need to fight terror and that Israel’s leaders recognized that a Palestinian state would be the foundation of long-lasting security.

Not gonna happen! We can be as hopeful as we want, but there is no way Hamas, and the rest of the little islamonazi groups, are going to allow Israel to have peace. Take a look at their “constitution”. Democracy and fanatical Islam? Pfft. I don’t think so!

President Bush’s last stand?

George W Bush may be seen by many as a lame-duck president, but he tried hard to sound forceful and underline that he is still relevant.
(…)
“Members of Congress should know: if any bill raising taxes reaches my desk, I will veto it.”

He also warned Congress against trying to add anything to the $150bn (£76bn) economy stimulus package, warning that would risk derailing or delaying it.

Now, you KNOW they are going to try to sneak some nonsense or other in there. It’s what they do! Besides, what’s so bad about a derailing a phony stimulus package? If the gubmint would just get out of the way…..

For Democrats, a Gleeful State of the Union

Democrats never seemed so elated about the prospect of a major speech by President Bush. Or of having it finished.

“I think everybody is ready to turn the page,” said Representative Mark Udall, Democratic of Colorado, as he and his colleagues poured out of Mr. Bush’s last State of the Union address.

“Next year we’ll have a different president, which I look forward to,” said Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, Democrat, majority leader and frequent nemesis of the president.

Personally, I’m looking forward to different ‘leadership’ in BOTH houses of Congress. Respectfully, Y’ALL SUCK!

Dems, economy upstage Bush’s speech

“We’re sick and tired of seven years of George Bush,” said Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Walnut Creek. “We’re more than sick and tired; we’re scared and frightened for the prospect of working families in this country and our national security and competitiveness.”

Tauscher ridiculed Bush’s address. “Apparently the president is suffering with the rest of Hollywood from the writer’s strike.”

Well, the American people are sick and tired of programs that cost billions and don’t work. We’re sick and tired of the whining. We’re sick and tired of feckless weasels doing their utmost to take control of our lives while living in Ivory Towers. And we’re sick and tired of being invaded from the south, and y’all stick your head up your collective asses and do NOTHING. Frankly lady, we’re sick and tired of YOU!  ALL of you!
