Poll gives McCain lead in most states; Clinton & Obama still close

The final Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby Poll of voters in key Super Tuesday states showed Arizona Sen. John McCain “continued to dominate among Republicans” in most of the states, but Mitt Romney maintained his lead “in delegate-rich California, with 40% support in that state, to McCain’s 33%.” On the Democratic side, “New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama continued to fight neck and neck for their party’s voters and delegates. Obama solidified his lead in California, but Clinton pulled ahead in New Jersey, where the two had been tied in the previous poll.” Reminder: Polls are snapshots of current public opinion. Many factors can affect what voters actually do when they get to their polling places.

I’d really like to know who they are asking. I don’t know one person who supports McFeingold. Personally, not one!

Bush outlines record budget

President Bush’s record $3.1 trillion budget request yesterday for fiscal 2009 would add $407 billion to the federal debt behind continued increases in military spending and an economic-stimulus package, further complicating Republican Party efforts to assure voters they are fiscally responsible.

Somebody hurry up and take the checkbook away from that man!

Obama a friend of Israel? Bauer urges caution

In a recent interview with Israeli and Jewish reporters, Obama said he opposes the “literal” return of millions of Palestinians to homes they fled in Israel. The Illinois senator’s position is similar to the Israeli government’s stance. Obama is reportedly trying to win over Jewish voters and Israeli officials by expressing support for key Israeli demands in peace talks with the Palestinians. American Jews make up large voting blocs in states like New York and California, two of the states where “Super Tuesday” primaries are taking place today.

I am continuously baffled by the Jewish voters who support Dhimmicrats. They are pro Palestinian, and haven’t made a secret of it, so….. how……

Kenya Death Toll Surpasses 1,000

As the violence has intensified, roadblocks manned by young men armed with machetes and bows and arrows have popped up across the country. In many places, the rowdy youth act like toll booths, extracting payment before lifting barriers to allow vehicles to pass.

Kenya descended into turmoil after the deeply flawed election in December. The country’s electoral commission declared that the incumbent president, Mwai Kibaki, had narrowly beaten the top opposition leader, Raila Odinga, but election observers have said there was widespread evidence of vote rigging.

Perhaps while Annan is there, sipping tea, he could suggest another election, one that is closely watched by international observers? Just a thought.

Romney to Huckabee: No Whining

Mitt Romney on Monday told Republican rival Mike Huckabee to quit “whining” after Huckabee accused Romney of trying to suppress turnout on Super Tuesday.

Both candidates are vying for win some Super Tuesday states in an effort to deny John McCain a decisive victory that would nearly wrap up the delegate count he needs to win the Republican presidential nomination.

Are there any grown ups in this ‘race’?

Miss. vows to take Memphis water theft suit to Supreme Court

The suit claims city wells in Memphis have sucked more than 372 billion gallons of water from underneath Mississippi. The state is asking for about $1 billion in compensation.

How can they tell? Is Mississippi sinking? And just where do they think Memphis would get a billion dollars?

Navy must comply with no-sonar rule

Environmental groups seeking to protect whales from the potentially harmful effects of sonar cheered a legal victory against the Navy and the Bush administration.

U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper ruled Monday that the Navy is not exempt from complying with both the National Environmental Policy Act and a court injunction that created a 12 nautical-mile no-sonar zone off Southern California.

Our enemies must be sooooo pleased.

Super Tuesday weather could snarl vote

“We’re expecting for the Milwaukee area anywhere between 9 and 11 inches,” said J.J. Wood, a National Weather Service meteorologist. He said up to 10 inches was expected in a swath from southwest Wisconsin through the Madison area up toward Port Washington.

Several inches of snow fell in central and northern Wisconsin Monday and caused some high school basketball and hockey games to be canceled along with other events. A gymnastics meet at Mosinee was among the sports events called off because of the weather.

Y’all have shovels up there! Use them! And drive carefully! But GO VOTE!

Ice cream firm pushes for hormone labels

Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., one of the first companies to label its ice cream as free of a synthetic hormone, is protesting a move by some states to restrict such labeling.

I don’t understand. More information makes for more informed choices.
