An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Temporary Reprieve
We seem to have survived the first round of storms. It’s been quite an evening, but I don’t see any damage from my vantage point on the couch.
We did lose a couple of TV stations out of Memphis, PBS and CBS, for a while, but they seem to be back. They evidently got hit really hard, especially in the Hickory Hill area.
Jackson had some damage as well, with some kids being trapped in their dorm. They have now been taken to the hospital, and no word of their condition at the moment.
Local coverage didn’t even touch on the returns for the state, but from what I’ve been able to gather on the ‘net, Clinton took Tennessee, and it’s looking kind of tight between McCain and Huckabee.
We did have a close call around here in the boonies. A tornado had been spotted 7 miles from Shiloh, and about 4 miles from Adamsville. Well, guess where we are. Yup….seven miles from Shiloh and 4 miles from Adamsville. It was LOUD, but it doesn’t appear to have touched down in our immediate vicinity. What’s weird….we didn’t lose the power until after all the ruckus. Although, the satellites did a nose dive for a while…naturally.
It does look like we have another coming heading in this direction later on tonight. Oh yippee! sigh…
And now Huckabee is threatening to sing Rocky Top?

Yeah…it’s been wild all over the place. I’m still stuck in the mid-plains waiting for the storm in MKE to clear. Oh well, Best Western is your friend.
Hey, as long as you have internet access and the remote control, life it good!
