Obama Gets Convincing Wins in 3 States

Senator Barack Obama won decisive victories over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington, Louisiana and Nebraska on Saturday, giving him an impressive sweep going into a month when the Democratic nominating contests are expected to favor him.

Sadly, this doesn’t surprise me. B. Hussein speaks very well, he just doesn’t say anything of substance. The Shrilldebeast would be much easier to beat in the general. Race and white quilt wouldn’t even come into play.

Palestinian group calls on Egyptian minister to apologize to Gazans

Anwar Raja, a member of the political bureau of the Damascus-based Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General-Command, called on Aboul Gheit to retract his comments, made last week.

“The diplomatic courtesy and the brotherly (Egyptian-Palestinian) relations requires that Mr. Aboul Gheit be more responsible in his statements,” Raja said in a statement.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians crossed into Egypt from the Gaza strip beginning late last month during a 12-day breach of the border. The border has been resealed, and Aboul Gheit warned last week that anyone trying to cross illegally “will get his legs broken.”

I guess this bozo doesn’t understand common courtesy. Your host has every right to get angry when you bust down his doors and try sneaking in his back windows. Gheit has nothing to apologize for!

Striking writers poised to return to keyboards

Signs are good that Hollywood writers could decide as soon as today to end the strike that has crippled the entertainment industry and get back to work early this week.

The writers spent Saturday on both coasts picking through details of a tentative new contract with the studios and networks, and leaders of the Writers Guild of America held long meetings in New York and Los Angeles, where they urged members to accept the deal and end picketing.

Guess I didn’t realize that was still going on. Shows ya how much attention I pay to network tv. Hmmm….oh yeah….Moonlight was a rerun last Friday, wasn’t it. Didn’t seem all that unusual though.

Fire destroys Tenn. mosque; arson eyed

A mosque was destroyed Saturday by a fire that federal investigators say appears to have been caused by arson. No one was injured.

Investigators found drawings of swastikas and other graffiti at the Islamic Center of Columbia, said Special Agent Eric Kehn of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Evidently, the morons who did this, are real familiar with the more recent history of Islam….like in the 20th century? Honestly, I’m glad no one was hurt.

Local GOP voters cool to McCain

“John McCain has been giving social conservatives the middle finger for 25 years,” French said, citing McCain’s efforts to regulate campaign finances as just one example of when the candidate has bucked GOP orthodoxy.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do,” French said. “I want to vote, but I don’t think I can pull the lever for John McCain.” The U.S. senator from Arizona is the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee following Romney’s withdrawal from the race on Thursday.

Yup, we do have a dilemma ’round these parts!

Thousands of votes cast in state primary ruled invalid

Reed said that while some people may just forget to do it, or may be purposefully skipping voting in the presidential race and voting on special elections being held in 36 of the state’s 39 counties, he thinks many are protesting the requirement that they declare themselves loyal to a party for the Feb. 19 primary election.

“I think this is really indicative of the attitude of Washington state voters, who are these populist voters who refuse, as a matter of principle, to be put in that box,” he said.

Isn’t that one of those ‘right to privacy’ issues a lot of people have a problem with? Although the Constitution doesn’t state in quite that way - “secure in their persons” is how it’s written. Rather surprising from such a libby state.

Record-High Price of Gold Brings About a Mini-Rush

The snow is knee-high along the banks of Crow Creek, where men are crouching up to their chests in near-freezing water, and the air is several degrees colder.

But for Mike Telgenhoff and his companions, this is a fine day to look for gold.

I prefer to get my gold in the form of jewelry. :)

Judge rules that pervert pictures cannot be shown in our sister newspaper

A judge banned Sunday Life - the sister paper of the Belfast Telegraph - from showing the face of vicious killer Kenneth Callaghan.
(…)
Callaghan, 40, is close to being released from his life sentence for the October 1987 murder of Carol Gouldie. He bludgeoned the 21-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her as she lay dying inside her home at Colvil Street in Belfast.

He left her body to be found by a lodger two days later.

I think the judge was wrong. This guy’s picture should be shown, for the protection of the community. I’d also like to know why this scumbag is getting out of prison!

Putin Criticizes West in Farewell Speech, Lays Out Successor’s Agenda

President Vladimir Putin accused the West of military expansion and laid out an ambitious agenda for his successor to restore Russia’s economic and military clout in a farewell address Friday.

With less than a month before the presidential election, the speech signaled that Putin’s doctrine of assertive economic and military policies and unwavering centralized power would continue under his chosen successor, First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Medvedev is expected to win the March 2 vote easily, and he has indicated he will name Putin as his prime minister.

The West is skeptical of how free and fair the vote will be, and the election monitoring body of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said Thursday it would not send observers because of “severe restrictions” imposed by the Kremlin.

Wonder what Bush REALLY saw when he looked into Putin’s eyes!

Homosexual Mormons hope new president more open

A group of homosexual Mormons is seeking an unprecedented meeting with the new church president and his counselors, hoping to begin a conversation and find ways to address the concerns of its members.

Affirmation, with more than 2,000 gay, lesbian and transgender members, is not recognized by the church, which at one time labeled homosexuality as a problem that required help.

“Although there are many areas of hurt and disagreement that have separated us, there are many more areas on which we can find agreement, and in doing so, become a blessing in the lives of many of the Saints, both straight and gay,” the group wrote in its invitation to Thomas S. Monson last week.

Doesn’t anyone read the “Rules” anymore? Also, the phrase “go, and sin no more” comes to mind.
