An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

Small Town Tennessee

Tonight, the Mr, Jr and I decided to take in some local flavor.  It turns out that there is an Adamsville Bluegrass show every Saturday night, so why not check it out?  Let’s put it this way….I hope the bands we missed were better than the ones we caught!  To say there was NO personality on the stage is putting it mildly.  It wasn’t there were some talented folks up there, they just didn’t happen to play in the same group.  One fiddler was pretty good, but the rest of the bunch….well, weren’t so good.  There might have been a full set of teeth between 4 or 5 of them?  No, that’s an exaggeration.  I did, however notice that one of the gentlemen had seen his last tooth a while back.

Advice?  If you are going to put on a show, at least have a ‘front man’ to talk, tell jokes, something, while the musicians are figuring out what they are going to play next.  And for the love of pete, don’t face each other, face your audience!

Ok, maybe I’m a bit biased.  The Mr is a professional, so I guess I got use to a real show.  Maybe I was just hungry?

Actually, we all were, otherwise, we might have stuck around a little longer.  We headed ‘downtown’, which was 2 blocks away, and saw a horse and carriage in front of the recently opened restaurant.  Cute.  Other than the fact Main Street is actually a U.S. highway.  I guess it’s a good thing there’s not a lot of traffic around here on Saturday nights.  No, we didn’t take a right, but it’s something to think about when it gets a tad warmer.  It only got up to 60 today.

Criminy!  I love this place!
