Obama calls for financial regulations, stimulus
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama proposed greater government regulation of the U.S. financial system and a new $30 billion economic stimulus plan on Thursday in response to the housing crisis.
It’s not the government’s job to stimulate the economy! I am so sick and tired of these candidates promising things they have NO authority to do!
Both Obama and his Democratic rival, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, accused Republican candidate John McCain of supporting little to ease the current credit and housing problems, which drew a quick response from the McCain camp.
McFeingold may not be strong on the economy, but at least he’s not making promises to do all these wonderful things for the gimme folks.
The focus on the economy mirrors its pressing importance for Americans. A Pew Research Center poll said people are as negative as they were during the recession of the early 1990s, with just 11 percent rating the economy as excellent or good.
This just tells me that our public school system is a total failure.
“It is time for the federal government to revamp the regulatory framework dealing with our financial markets,” the Illinois senator said in a wide-ranging speech on the economy.
Which is Dhimmi speak for MORE regulations!
“If you can borrow from the government, you should be subject to government oversight and supervision,” he said.
Well, let’s turn that around. The gubmint sucks money out of paychecks on a regular basis. The gumbint should be subject to CITIZEN ‘oversight and supervision’!
“If we can extend a hand to banks on Wall Street when they get into trouble, we can extend a hand to Americans who are struggling through no fault of their own,” he said to applause.
It’s my understanding it wasn’t the gubmint, it was the Federal Reserve, which is NOT the gubmint. As to those “struggling through no fault of their own”? Horse manure! We are responsible for our own actions! If I go out and buy a million dollar house, when I KNOW I can’t afford it under normal circumstances, it’s MY bloomin’ fault when the bank comes around says, “Pay up, or vacate!”
Honestly, these people who claim the government is the answer to all ills, mistakes, or whatever, really need a reality SLAP! Who do they think FUNDS the government? We do! You and me! And I am sick and tired of my money (well, the Mr’s now) going to support wasteful socialistic schemes! We are a Republic! Not Cuba!
