An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Major Congratulations To The Memphis Tigers!
Tigers defeat UCLA, 78-63, to advance to NCAA championship
What goes around comes around for the Memphis Tigers.
So what if it took 35 years to come around?
The Tigers advanced to their first NCAA national championship game since 1973 on Saturday in the Alamodome, scoring a 78-63 Final Four semifinal victory over UCLA, the team it lost to in the ’73 finals.
Guards Derrick Rose and Chris-Douglas Roberts scored 28 and 25 points respectively, and Joey Dorsey grabbed 15 rebounds, and held UCLA center Kevin Love to 12 points and 9 rebounds as the Tigers played with the poise of a champion in the stretch.
Memphis (38-1) now plays the winner of Saturday’s late second semifinal between North Carolina and Kansas, with Monday night’s tipoff set at 8:21. The Tigers have never played North Carolina and have played Kansas five times with the last meeting in the 1987-88 season.

Looks like they’ll be playing Kansas. No sweat!
