An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

Made My Monday!

Jr and I were on our way to town today, to run some errands. I kept seeing this motorcycle ahead of us with what looked like something being towed behind it. It was going under the speed limit, so I thought it was going to turn. Well, as we got closer to it, I’m afraid I had to bust out laughing. Honestly, I’ve never seen such a thing before.

It look something similar to this:

The bike wasn’t as wide, and the wheels were a LOT bigger. Both were on the ground, instead of what would you would think for actually training for balance. Seriously, it was one of the odder things I’ve seen in a very long time.

I’m not making fun of the person, who appeared to be an older person….I just thought it was a hoot. I had NO idea they had training wheels for motorcycles.

Ya learn something new every day!

The training wheels aren’t actually touching the ground when the bike is under power. Wheels like these are usually installed for handicapped people who still want to ride on 2 wheels, not a trike. This allows them to stop the bike without it tipping over. I’ve seen race bikes that have hydraulic wheel kits similar to this. When the racer takes off, the wheels go up so the bike has the proper clearance for cornering. It’s kinda cool.

One cup of coffee…… Can’t read yet……. The comment above is for the bike pictured but holds true for others……

I looked at a LOT of pictures, and none of them came close to what I saw. Seriously, these wheels were both touching the ground, and they were big. They look more like what you’d see on a small trailer. :/ It was also quite wide across.I have seen the small ones on racing bikes…when I flipped through channels. I didn’t attribute that to actually “training” wheels. :) I figured there were something like what ya said….to keep ‘em from totally laying down.

Actually, it was all kind of cute, after I stopped cackling. And like I said, it was an older person. Honestly, even though I had m’own bike many years back, when I was very YOUNG, these days, I might have to have those aids too. Heh.

Although, I wouldn’t mind having something that looks kind of like this

but the Mr won’t let me. :(
