Iran Steps Up Defiance of UN With More Centrifuges
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran is installing 6,000 new advanced uranium-enrichment centrifuges at its Natanz nuclear facility, a move that steps up the Persian Gulf country’s dismissal of United Nations sanctions.
Natanz already has 3,000 of an older version of the fast- spinning machines that produce uranium 235, a material that can be used to fuel a nuclear power plant or build a bomb. The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency said in February that Iran was testing a faster, more reliable centrifuge. Iran plans to install 50,000 centrifuges at Natanz, Ahmadinejad said in 2006.
So, what are the Useless Numnuts gonna do about? Same thing they always do…..NOT A DAMN THING!
8 teens charged in videotaped attack
Eight teenagers have been arrested on charges alleging they beat another teen in an “animalistic attack” so they could make a videotape to post on YouTube.
Seven of them remained in juvenile detention Tuesday, authorities said. A boy who was charged as an adult had been released on bail.
“Alleged” my hind quarters! When their is visual proof, there’s nothing alleged about it!
Corruption undercuts stability
Corruption and political patronage in Iraq’s Interior Ministry threaten U.S. efforts to transfer responsibility for public safety to Iraq’s police, military analysts said ahead of Gen. David H. Petraeus’ long-awaited report to Congress today.
Control of the ministry, which nominally controls nearly 500,000 police and other nonmilitary security forces across Iraq, has become more of a political “struggle for survival and supremacy” than an attempt to bring stability to Iraq, said Matthew Sherman, a former adviser to the Iraqi interior minister.
So, how do we convince the Iraqis that lying, cheating, stealing and bribery are NOT the best way to run things? Hmmm…. pot and kettle. We can’t accomplish it, how do we expect them to?
Militant Cleric Postpones Big Baghdad Protest
Moktada al-Sadr, the anti-American Shiite cleric in Iraq whose Mahdi Army militia has been engaged in fierce clashes with Iraqi and American troops in Baghdad over the past week, on Tuesday postponed a huge demonstration in the capital less than 24 hours before it was to take place.
In a press release distributed by his political organization in Baghdad, a Sadr spokesman said the planned Wednesday protest, which Mr. Sadr had proclaimed would draw 1 million participants to demonstrate anti-American opposition among Iraqis, had been postponed for unspecified “safety reasons.” No new date was set.
“Safety reasons”? I wouldn’t think that safety would be a concern of the infamous cleric. It sure hasn’t bothered him in the past. Could be that he couldn’t come up with a million folks who support his idea of Iraq? Just a thought.
Judge orders death row inmate Paul House released
Two decades later, DNA evidence — semen collected from Muncey’s nightgown and underwear — revealed House did not rape her. The DNA belonged to her husband.
The U.S. Supreme Court decided that the evidence was strong enough that a jury would not have convicted House.
House’s incarceration has left him without a family, in poor health and with no future, Joyce House said of her son.
Two questions: Although the DNA evidence supposedly exonerates, I am curious why this man was on death row for 22 flippin’ years? And second, what does having MS have to do with being in prison? Obviously, he was going to have it no matter where he was, home or behind bars.
U.N. has 14 days to verify troops build-up in Sudan’s disputed Abyei
Sudan’s former foes have granted UN peacekeeping mission 14 days of unhindered access to Sudan’s oil-rich Abyei region to help stem escalating tensions which threaten to undermine a landmark 2005 north-south peace deal.
Well, good luck with that. I wouldn’t put much hope in the UN’s ability to do a dadburn thing.
Hamas threatens to breach Israeli border
Gazans will storm into Egypt and Israel if they don’t lift their embargo of the territory, leading Hamas official Khalil al-Haya said Tuesday.
Palestinians in Gaza can no longer bear being confined to the strip and subjected to shortages of food, power and substandard health care, he said.
So, the Pallies want what the Israelis have, but don’t want to do it for themselves, they want to take it, by force, if necessary. too lazy to work for themselves, but not too lazy to “steal”? sigh…. Gee, maybe if their “gubmint” spend the billions of dollars given to them in aid to build hospitals, roads, schools, etc., instead of buy the means to murder innocents, they wouldn’t be having this problem!
Venezuela Calls ‘Simpsons’ Unfit for Kids, Replaces Show With ‘Baywatch Hawaii’
D’oh! A Venezuelan TV channel has yanked “The Simpsons” off the air because it may be inappropriate for children. Taking its place: “Baywatch Hawaii.”
Televen TV station spokeswoman Elba Guillen said Monday that the decision to hand over the daily 11 a.m. time slot came after the National Telecommunications Commission received complaints from viewers.
“It had to be taken off,” Guillen said. “They consider it to be a series that isn’t appropriate for that time because it isn’t appropriate for children.”
Yep! Remove a sarcastic, disrespectful cartoon brat with real T & A. Makes all kinds of sense. What a horse’s rump!
