Obama looks to put controversial pastor behind him
An angry Obama told reporters yesterday he was “outraged” by what he called a “performance” by Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club in Washington on Monday and added that he was “saddened by the spectacle.”
Wright used the forum to reiterate some of his charges against the U.S. government, including his suggestion that the government invented the AIDS virus to destroy “people of color.”
Obama calls the comments “divisive and destructive” and says “they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate.”
And, I’ll repeat my, and 9 million other’s question: What were you doing in that pew for 20 years? Why would you take your young children to such a place? To learn hatred from the “master” of hatred? No, Sen. B., too little, too late. I thnk think the only thing you are truly angry about is you’ve been exposed for what you really are!
REV-ENGE IS SWEET FOR ‘BETRAYED’ PASTOR
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright would be happy to see Barack Obama’s presidential campaign derailed because the pastor is fuming that his former congregant has “betrayed” their 20-year relationship,
The Post has learned. “After 20 years of loving Barack like he was a member of his own family, for Jeremiah to see Barack saying over and over that he didn’t know about Jeremiah’s views during those years, that he wasn’t familiar with what Jeremiah had said, that he may have missed church on this day or that and didn’t hear what Jeremiah said, this is seen by Jeremiah as nonsense and betrayal,” said the source, who has deep roots in Wright’s Chicago community and is familiar with his thinking on the matter.
Keep talkin’ “Rev”. Keep right on talkin’. Heh.
Afghans link Karzai assassination plan to Pakistan
The plot to kill President Hamid Karzai over the weekend was hatched in lawless tribal areas of neighboring Pakistan, the Afghan intelligence chief said Wednesday.
The accusation came just hours after Afghan security forces raided a Kabul hide-out of militants with suspected links to the attack on Karzai. Seven people died in the raid.
Intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh said there was no evidence that Pakistan’s government or its intelligence agencies were involved in the assassination attempt Sunday.
Let’s see, they use the word “lawless tribal areas”. That tells me, the Pakistani gubmint has no control of that area, ergo, why are they denying the possibility? Hmmmm….
New Life Church embraces prophecy
Pastor Tom Lane, an overseer and mentor for New Life from Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, said that it is uncommon, even among charismatic evangelical churches, to give this type of teaching and demonstration of prophecy from the pulpit.
“I don’t think it should be,” Lane said. “We live in an age when the greatest need in people’s lives is for encouragement.”
Prophecy, Boyd said, is one of his primary gifts as a minister, yet he wanted all church members to share the power rather than relying on one leader.
“I’m going to teach it in a real practical, down-to-earth way so that all of us can apply the gift of prophecy day to day,” Boyd said.
The Holy Spirit can give people direct guidance from God on everything from their marriages to their jobs if they learn how to hear it, Boyd said.
Seems to me, there’s already a Book that covers prophecy. REAL prophecy. Hmmm…. I’ve got one that’s 1888 pages long that covers just about anything and everything you can think of, large print, so I can see what I’m reading.
Power Outage at Memphis International Airport
The outage happened when the power was taken down by airport officials on Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. for scheduled maintenance. When it was brought back up as planned at on Wednesday morning, it didn’t work. Officials then turned on the emergency power in the terminal.
The power outage is not affecting the ability for flights to land and take off. However, it is affecting the power to load and unload passengers.
Well, there’s not much point in having passenger airlines without the passengers, now is there.
Anti-Semitic attacks up 6% in 2007
The rise in the severe violence against Jews “could be understood as part of the increase in the crime rate in general,” the study authors write, but also note that “the vast majority of anti-Semitic incidents have been recorded in western and central Europe, where the growing presence of millions of immigrants, including 20 million Muslims, is a source of friction and unrest.”
Here’s a novel thought…..stop letting in the folks who are causing the biggest part of the problem, and the problem will eventually decrease. DUH!
Federal Reserve Expected to Cut Rates One More Time
The Federal Reserve, which began the year aggressively fighting a severe credit crunch and economic weakness, may push the pause button after delivering perhaps one more quarter-point cut in interest rates.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and his colleagues were to wrap up a two-day meeting Wednesday and financial markets widely expected that the discussions will end with an announcement that the Fed will cut a key interest rate by a quarter-point.
Oh, fer the love of pete! Knock off all the manipulation! It’s doing more harm than good!
9/11 trial pits law grads of U of M
Al Hawsawi’s defense lawyer is Army Maj. Jon S. Jackson, 37, a Kirby High School and 1996 UofM law school graduate.
It is not clear when a trial could get under way. Jackson expects to meet his client for the first time in mid-May. This week, hearings are being held in the case of bin Laden’s driver, Salim Ahmed Hamdan.
“It’s an honor for the law school to be represented at such a high level in such an important case,” said acting law school dean Kevin Smith.
Honor? Questionable honor.
Bush hits Congress for inaction on energy, housing bills
President Bush, hoping to inoculate his party and his presidential legacy from election-year anger over the economy, heaped criticism on the Democratic-led Congress on Tuesday for “letting the American people down.”
But Mr. President, the Congress has been way too busy doing the really important stuff……like investigating BASEBALL! (insert massive sarcasm here)
Anger Over ‘Sneaky’ Car Tax Increases
It was thought vehicles up to seven years old would be exempt from the shake-up, designed to penalise high emissions.
But now it has emerged their owners will have to pay the new road duties after all.
And making people pay more is going to help……how?
Bee investigation prompts nail-gun maker to halt production
A small North Carolina company says it will stop making nail guns equipped with automatic firing systems this fall to avoid worker injuries and prevent accidental deaths.
Jim Brown of Amigo Tools & Fasteners Inc. of Durham said he had no idea that thousands of U.S. workers and do-it-yourselfers are being hurt – some even killed – by the tools until he learned about it from The Sacramento Bee.
“I am shocked by the information The Bee has and I believe in doing what’s right,” Brown said. “I will change my tools knowing that they can kill people. The last thing I want is to have some kid left without a father.”
Tell ya what…..let’s all stop making anything that could possibly, maybe, hurt anyone, and all live in a bubble. No shoe laces, cuz you could trip and fall. No plastic forks, cuz ya might poke yourself. The list is endless. Let’s start now….you first. The Bee kills trees. Trees have to have someone cut them down, which requires sharp objects. Trees can fall on people, sharp objects can cut or main. So, by this logic, the Sacramento Bee MUST stop publishing.

As a California rancher I can tell you that what the Sac Bee really kills is RATIONAL THOUGHT.
Get the exterminator……….what a waste of perfectly good timber!
Heh. I use to live out there back in the 80’s, and even then, it was a waste of good toilet paper.
