Oh Kate,
you gotta see the debate I’m in on this site, LOL!

Hmmm…. a couple of things here. We had to get my granddaughter a photo ID from the state of Texas so she could get on a plane and come visit. She, like a whole slew of teenagers, just can’t wait to get their driver’s license. (I need valium!) Now, if young folks are going to be “disenfranchised”, then odds are, they aren’t beating their parents and grandparents heads against a wall, dancing up and down when they turn 16 so they can drive (and give us all coronaries).
I’m not to fond of the idea of a national ID card. “Papers please” makes my skin crawl. But college students need and ID, with photo, to even get into the buildings on campus. You need ID to check out a book at the library. Or rent a video, or visit historic sites in the D.C. area, or get a fishing license. How can someone tell me that producing a photo ID can “disenfranchise” anyone? I don’t get it.
