Yes, I have many, and will continue to come up with one or two on a regular basis.  How else do ya learn, except by asking questions!

Anyway, what is twittering, and why would I want to do it?  Isn’t that what birds do?  Twitter?  Or is that tweeter….  Hmmm…

CIA given leeway on barred interrogation methods

The Justice Department has told Congress that U.S. intelligence operatives attempting to thwart terrorist attacks can legally use interrogation methods that might otherwise be prohibited under international law.

Contrary to what some may think, this is actually a good thing. Personally, I don’t want some politically correct politician deciding whether or not something is acceptable when it come to public safety. They have been so tightly wrapped in their coccoon’s it’s cut off the circulation to their brains.

Laredo case involving slain 13-year-old will test Texas’ ‘castle law’

A man who shot and killed a 13-year-old breaking into his mobile home has been indicted for murder in a case that could test a new law giving Texans more leeway to defend themselves with deadly force.

Jose Luis Gonzalez, 63, was indicted Friday in the July killing of a teenager who sneaked into his home with three friends to steal drinks and snacks. Francisco Anguiano was shot in the back and later died at a Laredo hospital.

Why was he charged with first degree murder? Because the kid was 13? That little twit broke into his home, with the intent to do mischief. He should be allowed to protect his home and property. I don’t care what the age of the thug is that goes toes up. If someone is violating my ’space’, I’m not going to have time to stop and ask how old they are, and no one else would either.

The New Economics of Hunger

In Chicago, Minneapolis and Kansas City, traders watched from the pits early last summer as wheat prices spiked amid mediocre harvests in the United States and Europe and signs of prolonged drought in Australia. But within a few weeks, the traders discerned an ominous snowball effect — one that would eventually bring down a prime minister in Haiti, make more children in Mauritania go to bed hungry, even cause American executives at Sam’s Club to restrict sales of large bags of rice.

Thank you ethanol (etc) nuts. Do you ever wonder if people who push their “save the planet” agenda ever think in long term? But hey, as long as it makes them “feel good” at the present moment, children dying of starvation don’t really matter, does it.

Iran: US attack against us unlikely

A US attack on Iran is “unlikely” because the American military is bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan, said an Iranian official Sunday, following renewed US accusations that the Islamic republic is funneling weapons to Iraqi militias.

Well then, go ahead, continue to piss us off, and see what happens.

Clinton Wants Debate Without Moderators

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton again challenged Sen. Barack Obama to a debate in Indiana, but this time with a new twist: no moderators.

“Just the two of us going for 90 minutes asking and answering questions,” Clinton said at a rally Saturday. “We’ll set whatever rules seem fair.”

Why do the words ‘riot’ and ‘fiasco’ come to mind? Although, I have to admit, if they had that sort of debate, WITHOUT planted questions from the audience, then I might just watch it.

Ethanol production cited in corn price increase

Corn and other food prices will continue to climb, experts say, although why is a matter of debate.

James W. Dunn, a Penn State University agriculture professor, said increased ethanol production is a primary factor. The United States, he said, “has diverted a huge amount of corn crops and acreage into ethanol production.”

A few years ago, Dunn said, 1 billion bushels of corn were used to make the biofuel. This year, he said, the amount of corn used in production is expected to range from three billion to five billion bushels, which means less corn for the nation’s food supply.

All together now…… “Well DUH!”

Gang shootout in Tijuana leaves 13 dead

In one of the most violent eruptions in the ongoing border drug war, suspected traffickers clashed on the streets of Tijuana early Saturday morning in a wild and bloody shootout that left 13 people dead and eight others injured in a series of moving gun battles.

Gunmen began firing on each other with rifles and automatic weapons in a light industrial area east of the city, according to authorities, leaving a trail of corpses, spent shell casings and bullet-riddled vehicles across Tijuana as the triggermen gave chase to one another.

They can kill each other all they want, as long as they keep it down there. Unfortunately, thanks to our useless gubmint policies, they keep brining their war over our borders and into our streets.

Israel blamed for Palestinian economic problems

The Palestinian economy won’t grow this year, largely due to Israeli restrictions on movement and despite billions of dollars in aid meant to shore up support for peace talks, the World Bank predicted Sunday.

The bleak prognosis stands in contrast to the bank’s initial assessment that double-digit economic growth would be possible if Israel, the Palestinian government and the donors did their part.

“Did their part”? Give me a break! If the Pallies would use those billions of dollars in aid for seed to grow food, irrigation, etc., they wouldn’t be in the mess they are in. Blaming Israel and the West for their own shortcomings is just one more tactic to push the guilt card. I feel NO guilt, and neither should anyone else. If they want a prosperous “country”, then perhaps they should spend those dollars on something other than weapons.

Metro traffic stops lead to most deportations

For Ramiro Aguirre, the path to deportation began with a broken headlight.

A Nashville police officer pulled him over last November, and Aguirre was arrested when he couldn’t produce a driver’s license. He went from jail to a deportation center to Mexico. All after a minor traffic violation.

Works for me! Minor, major, whatever it takes! If those wanting to cross the border illegally get the message, maybe the invasion will slow down to a trickle. One can only hope. Oh, and The Tennessean might want to remember, it wasn’t just a “minor” traffic stop that got him deported. He was here ILLEGALLY!

Kim Jong-il builds ‘Thunderbirds’ runway for war in North Korea

North Korean military engineers are completing an underground runway beneath a mountain that can protect fighter aircraft from attack until they take off at high speed through the mouth of a tunnel.

The 6,000ft runway is a few minutes’ flying time from the tense front line where the Korean People’s Army faces soldiers from the United States and South Korea.

The project was identified by an air force defector from North Korea and captured on a satellite image by Google Earth, according to reports in the South Korean press last week.

It is one of three underground fighter bases among an elaborate subterranean military infrastructure built to withstand a “shock and awe” assault in the first moments of a war, the defector said.

Shouldn’t this clown have been taken out a long time ago? Even though the “Axis of Evil” was named, they still scurry about their business gearing up for a devastating confrontation.

It’s Been A Critter Day

26 April 2008, 7:35 pm. No Comments. Filed under Critters.

I was minding my own business, actually starting to fix dinner….nothing fancy, just fish sticks, mac and cheese and such.  I looked out the living room window, and lo and behold…..there was a horse!  Well, me, being me, I rushed out with the camera.  At the same time, our neighbor was coming to take him home.  Evidently, he thought our weeds look tastier than their grass.  heh.

Meet Moses…..

….with our neighbor, Mike.  He’s got four horses over there…..one looks like “The Horse in the Grey Flanneled Suit”.  I’ve told him all he has to do is put a stake out there in the extra area, and let ‘em chomp!  Hey, it’s cheaper than a riding lawn mower, right?

Some Girls Are Just As Bad As Boys

26 April 2008, 11:41 am. 13 Comments. Filed under Critters, Stuff.

The Mr wanted to show Jr a toad that was outside. Said toad needed to stay outside, even after Jr looked at it. Well, Jr….being Jr…..just had to bring Mr. Toad in the house. She proudly announced she had name it Hermit. I have no idea why. She names some of the oddest things. Mr. Toad decided Jr wasn’t going to keep him ‘locked up’, and proceeded to do what toads do….jump…..all over the place.

toad.jpg

Mr. Toad was on my couch table for a short while; he then decided to check out the leg of said table. All the while, Jr was trying to keep Mr. Spot from making said toad a play toy. sigh…. Once we were able to get him/her back on the floor, I was able to use a plastic cup to cover him and use a dust pan to scoop him up.

Mr. Toad is safely back in the wilds of the flower bed.

I wonder if I’m going to allow her to see her 16th birthday?

Disclaimer:  No toads were harmed in the making of this exciting Saturday adventure.
