An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

A Truth

Some fodder:

So, why does the GOP seem to be trapped in this recurring political nightmare?

There are a plethora of different reasons for it: the war in Iraq, gas prices, a soft economy, George Bush’s lack of communication skills, corruption scandals, the illegal immigration brouhaha, nominee John McCain, out-of-control spending — you can go on and on.

However, there is one overriding problem that dwarfs all the others, a problem that few people in the leadership of the Republican Party seem to have come to grips with. That problem is that conservatives, who are the heart and soul of the Republican Party, no longer believe that the GOP has their best interests at heart.

I don’t think it could have been said much better than that!

Thanks for finding this. It echoes my sentiments precisely on the GOP. I will not be voting for McCain. I have no candidate representing me. I can only take heart that the world didn’t end when Carter (the astonishing nutjob that he is) was elected Pres. And if I recall, he had a Democratic congress as well.

Somehow, we got Regan after Carter. Perhaps if the GOP gets ass raped by an Obama Presidency, conservatives will rediscover the spine necessary to actually produce a candidate which will be an actual conservative in lieu of this “social conservative” RINO McCain.

The more I think about it, the less I think we’d be able to recover from an Obama presidency. Shoot, we haven’t even recovered from all the damage Cahtah did 30 years ago.
