An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

We Have Arrived!

Well, actually, we got here about 5:45 eastern time. I had no idea there was a time difference. Go figure. Good thing there was a sign on the highway that said “Eastern Standard Time”. :)

The most exciting part of the trip was when the Mr suggested we stop at KFC. Y’see, Jr has had this thing about eating KFC in Kentucky. Why? I have no earthly idea. Is it suppose to taste different? Truthfully, it was kind of nasty. I don’t think mine was completely cooked, or, I just don’t much care for KFC? Anyway, it made her happy, so we stopped. Maybe now, she’ll stop asking anytime we get near Kentucky? One can only hope!

Ok, so we get closer to Louisville, and it starts pouring down rain! The traffic is picking up, and I have no clue where I’m going. Peachy. We’re listening to the traffic reports on the radio, and of course, there’s a big back up on the road we need to take. Not a problem. I can handle this. Uh huh. No stress. Amazingly, the folks were polite, and let me get over into the lane I needed to veer off on to get to I-265. Another lucky break, the first exit I needed to get to the hotel was the very first one. YES! Get me off this dadburn thing!

Question: Why are they tucking Candlewood’s way off the beaten path?

We got checked in, after a major drenching. Rush to get changed to go to the “blog bash”, and wait for Jr. Again. No major problem, but since we were kind of tired, we didn’t want to be out to late, and wanted to go and get back in time to relax and watch a little of the idjit box.

Since it was still raining, and we have NO idea where anything is, we thought it would be a good idea to take a cab. Any other cab driver, it would have been a great idea. I thought we were all going to die! Slick roads and a maniac behind the wheel are NOT a good combination. However, as you can tell, we made it safe, if not sound.

There were a lot of bloggers at the shindig. Name tags were not provided. sigh…. I did meet the nice young fella from Gun Pundit, and the lovely lady, Bitter, that, I think, put the whole thing together. I did talk to a few other folks, but I have no idea who they were, and it was so loud in there, if they told me, I didn’t hear. Charley had a nice conversation with one of the guys on the Board of Directors of the NRA, Tom King. Nice guy. Naturally, even though I took my camera, I completely forgot to take any pictures. Just as well I suppose, since I couldn’t tell ya who any of the folks were in it, right?

As I said, it was really too loud, and kind of crowded, so we didn’t stay long. We moseyed along to see where we could have dinner. Personally, I wasn’t hungry, but hey, they were. Reckon that KFC didn’t do it for them, eh? :) There was a food court right down from the fancy places with a Wendy’s, Subway…the usual stuff you find at a food court at most malls. There was also a Stone Cold Creamery. Heh. They headed for Wendy’s, I head for the hard stuff. Ok, I needed that like a hole in the head, but it was ice cream fer cryin’ out loud. And not just any ol’ ice cream. I couldn’t finish it, but it was gooooood stuff!

We hailed another cab. Let me ask you…if you’re going to be a cab driver, wouldn’t it be a REAL good idea to know the town? sigh…. We don’t even live here, and we had to give HIM directions? Needless to say, his tip was a little on the small side. :? We are now happily relaxing back in our motel room.

I’ve decided not to do a live blog thing tomorrow at the Forum. I’ll take notes, but the thought of lugging this contraption around with me tomorrow is a bit daunting.
