Newspaper Pics
The Louisville Courier-Journal has some pictures posted. There’s not a link I can give ya, just go and look for the photos section down on the right hand side. It’ll say stuff about the NRA.
Day One of the NRA Shindig
We actually managed to leave the motel at a reasonable time, made it to the Expo without getting lost, and got parked on the other side of the moon. Ok, it really wasn’t that bad, but it was really nippy this morning, so it seemed a lot farther. Naturally, I had to take a picture of a bus.
I got my ‘media’ credentials, along with an extremely heavy bag. There was some cool stuff in the bag, and a big thanks to Bitter for putting it together. We stood in line to get registered for the rest of the shindig, and had a short conversation with some other home schoolers. Kind of nice for Jr to be aware that there are other kids who are home schooled. Besides, if she was stuck in public school, she wouldn’t be able to go to cool things like this, right?
We wandered around the exhibition hall for a little while, I happened to look up and see THE Gunny. COOL. I thought this would be a great picture with Jr. Well, then I got a gander at the line. Well, that wasn’t happening, so out comes the camera, great shot… Then mega man (an extremely LARGE man) looks straight at me, and walks right in the shot.
![]()
Well, after a couple of minutes, he finally got out of my way, and I got this one….
There was the required stuffed bear…
…and the big ol’ logo.
And guns. Lots and lots of guns!
We wandered back out into the hallway at around 11:oo thinking we would go back into the media room and have a cup of coffee or some juice or something. We saw a line, and me being me, asked why everyone was standing in line. It turns out they were already lined up to go into the American Values Forum. And it was already a really long line. So, what the heck, we lined up with everyone else.
The Mr and I decided we’d take turns standing in line. It wasn’t going anywhere, so why not! I took Jr into the media room to get some juice after she discovered the soda machine was THREE BUCKS! Then Jr and the Mr went outside so he could smoke a cigarette. The conversation behind me was about really ‘hot mags’. Uh huh.
My turn. I get to go out with Jr (she was a tad wound up to be standing in line for any length of time) so I could have a smoke. We walk back in and see…..the line is moving….FAST! Mental image: short, fat little legs just a pumpin’! Frightening!
We caught up with the Mr, got back in line, and ……. dead stop! It figures! There’s a lot of security going on! We finally made it up to the media entrance, and that’s where I parted ways with them. It turns out it’s a good thing too, because we forgot to get the other two tickets we had saved for us. sigh… Well, they went to the Endowment section, up front, and I was stuck behind TV cameras. But, at least we were now inside.
There was TV reporter, looked kind of plastic, talking to a man with a young son across the aisle. They had this huge camera, with extremely bright lights,in the poor kid’s face. I can only guess the plastic man asking the man, “So, why did you bring your young son to such an event?” If I were the dad, I would have shoved that bright light…..well, you know. No doubt he informed plastic man that it’s important for kids to know their rights. Since kids aren’t learning civics in school anymore, parents need to teach them the importance of being involved, and what are their civic duties.
I had some observations, but I won’t bore you with them…at least not right now.
2 minutes to ‘gate time’. Or, at least I thought so. They made an announcement about there still being a lot of people still trying to get through security, so there would be a delay. Ok, 15 minutes later, the same announcement is made. My feet were freezing! Why didn’t I bring my bunny slippers? I guarantee, if I ever attend such an event in the future, I’ll make sure to have a fleece blanket and a SERIOUS ZOOM camera. Honest honey, I won’t drop my camera! ![]()
I thought there would be more bloggers in the section where I was sitting. At the beginning, there were only 5 people, including me, in that good sized media area. The folks from The Ten Ring, a reporter from the Louisville Courrier, and some guy who wouldn’t say “BOO” if ya shot him in the hind end with a nail gun!
The reporter told me he had covered Hillary last week, Bill last night, and the B a few days ago. I asked him if anyone fainted at the B event. He said “Only two.” Heh.
And so, it begins: (excuse the bad quality of the pics)
John Siegler, President of the NRA, does the welcomes. We all stand to say the Pledge. Speech about the cause of freedom and how the American people are searching for true leadership. Well, there’s an understatement!
Larry Pollerfield, from Midway USA give Chris Cox a check for $4,000,000 from the Round Up program and gives a speech.
Chris Cox gives a speech. He’s a lot younger than I thought. Or maybe, I’m just old? sigh…
The Lt. Governor of Kentucky, Dr. Daniel Mongiardo gives a speech.
Then comes the good stuff.
Karl Rove is a hoot! Did you know we’re Clingers? You know, the folks who cling to their guns and religion? So, I’m PROUD to be a Clinger! He of course spoke of the difference between the two Dhimmi candidates and those of us who actually believe in the American people.
The one thing that stands out is when he brought up the “Yes, We Can!” BS. All the nonsense about change. Seriously, what does that mean? Change what? Change to a more socialistic society? That really is divisive. Well, some changes are good, if they are personal changes, but when you want to change a nation to fit your arrogant image, NO WE WON’T!
Oliver North showed a clip of some experiences while embeded in Iraq with the troops. It was extremely moving. Unfortunately, the picture I took of him speaking didn’t come out.
I gotta tell ya, Mike Huckabee is a darn good speaker. He’s extremely funny, and had folks rollin’. Especially about his “cork screw landing” at the Louisville Airport. Guess ya had to be there!
Kay Baily-Hutchison gave a speech. She mostly covered the gun ban case in D.C. that’s going to the Supreme Court. And guess who didn’t sign on to support this case? You got it, B. Hussein and the Shrilldebeast.
This is one man who SHOULD be the U.S. Ambassador to the Useless Numnuts! It’s absolutely shameful that the Dhimmis drove him from public service, but then, that’s what they do, isn’t it.
Mitt Romney gave a speech. DUH! Yeah, a lot of speeches. I never noticed that he smacked before he started a sentence. I got the impression he wasn’t really prepared to speak. He didn’t seem his usual self. Or maybe it was just me. No matter, he was still nice to watch.
Marcus Lattrel, Navy Seal and author of “Lone Survivor” was an extremely energetic young man. I would have taken a picture, but he never stood still long enough. He spoke from his heart, and even though it’s a tale I’ve heard before, he didn’t fail to move us all with his experiences. He said those who serve aren’t heroes, just patriots. This was pretty much the same message from Greg Stube, also a member of the military. He said he’s not a Green beret, that’s a hat. It was kind of humorous. Both men were badly injured in the line of duty, and neither one of them has any regrets. On the contrary, they are both extremely proud of those they have served with, and those they lost.
There were a couple of people like Mitch McConnell, and another guy, from Oklahoma, a Democrat no less, all who were interesting to a point. I was starting to glaze over from hunger, fatigue and iced feet.
They showed a rather good clip of a few highlights of John McCain. It was impressive actually! The Code Pink beatdown was especially notable. Heh.
Then…finally, Wayne LaPierre introduces John McFeingold.
Hmmm….. Perhaps if he had spoken sooner, I might have paid a bit more attention. I was so ready to get out of there and warm up, I just couldn’t follow all that closely. He did say our nation is NOT in a decline, unless we allow it. He is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter, so this is a good thing. I do believe, when it comes to the safety of our nation concerning the war on terror, he would be a MUCH stronger president than the other two choices. However, there are a few items that still bother me, that he didn’t address. Those would be the usual: border security, freedom of speech, and that absurd bandwagon he’s jumped on about climate change. Psst….we don’t control the climate Senator!
Wayne LaPierre spoke after McFeingold, but I gotta tell ya, I HAD to get out of there! Evidently, I wasn’t the only one, because even though they asked people not to leave, there was a major exodus!
The Mr and Jr found me with no problem, and we follow the swarm out the door. First a smoke, then food, was on the agenda! Dang! Who knew Kentucky had such good BBQ!?
We came across another line, which of course, we had no intention of standing in, no matter what the reason. Just as well, I got a better picture NOT standing in line.
Tomorrow, we start all over again! ![]()

Bin Laden marks Israel anniversary with combat vow
Bin Laden has placed growing emphasis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in recent pronouncements.
He said it was at the heart of the Muslim battle with the West and an inspiration to the 19 bombers who carried out the attacks on U.S. cities on September 11, 2001.
“We will continue, God permitting, the fight against the Israelis and their allies … and will not give up a single inch of Palestine as long as there is one true Muslim on earth,” the leader of al Qaeda said in the latest message, posted on an Islamist website on Friday.
I’d say that was a pretty large “hint” to the Dhimmis. There is going to be a long haul war against terrorism, and ‘chatting’ with tea and crumpet ain’t gonna cut it!
Lawmakers can keep ties to stocks secret
While Congress prescribed a strict conflict-of-interest law for the judiciary, which prompted Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to remove himself from a punitive-damages case involving Exxon Mobil, it didn’t apply the same test to lawmakers.
That has allowed Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison to oppose bills that would hurt Irving-based Exxon, in which Ms. Hutchison owns stock valued between $100,000 and $250,000, according to disclosure reports. The reports don’t require lawmakers to record the exact value of an asset. Mr. Alito’s stock in Exxon is valued within the same range.
Ms. Hutchison, R-Texas, also owns between $50,000 and $100,000 of stock in Chevron, which, like Exxon, opposes proposed legislation to impose a “windfall profits” tax on oil companies.
Ms Hutchison isn’t just help her own stock portfolio. She’s also helping the numerous others who hold stock in oil companies, one in particular that would be out on the street if it weren’t for her Exxon stock. Social Security just doesn’t pay the bills, much less buy food. This windfall tax isn’t just a bad idea for stockholders. It’s a really, REALLY, bad idea for consumers.
House GOP strips war funds from bill
The Democrat-led House yesterday passed a war-funding bill that failed to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The unusual outcome occurred when Republicans used a parliamentary maneuver to sabotage Democrats’ plans to tie the proposed $162.5 billion for the wars to a veto-provoking 18-month pullout timetable, domestic programs and a tax increase.
In the aftermath of the vote, accusations of political gamesmanship were traded across the aisle.
Slick move? I guess all the experts who state that putting a timetable on a pull out would cause more chaos just flies over the heads of the Dhimmis.
Mr. Chávez has denied the link between his government – and himself personally – and the drug-dealing FARC, a Marxist “liberation” group that has terrorized Colombia for decades. He claims that the documents seized earlier this year in a Colombian military raid in Ecuador are forgeries designed to prepare an invasion of Venezuela by the Bush Administration. No doubt he’ll stick to that story. If so, he’ll have to add Interpol – and the Australian and Singaporean forensic experts who examined the files – to the list of conspirators.
Among other things, the documents detail personal meetings between Mr. Chávez and senior FARC leaders and the provision of money and materiel to the “rebels.” Of a $250 million “loan” from Venezuela to FARC, Venezuela’s Interior Minister wrote in one email, “Don’t think of it as a loan, think of it as solidarity.” The documents also describe Venezuela providing FARC with rocket-propelled grenades – and training in the Middle East on how to use them to shoot down Colombian military aircraft.
This scumball would shoot a dog in front of millions of people, and still deny it ever happened. He is slime, and should be removed, post haste!
Obese Blamed For World Food Crisis
Obese people are adding to the world food crisis because of the amount they eat, experts claim.
Food prices are soaring around the world, placing staple products beyond the reach of poorer communities and leading to social unrest.
Increasing oil prices and the use of land for growing biofuels instead of edible crops are said to be two major factors driving up the cost of food.
But, according to two experts from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, obesity is also to blame.
Is this another way of blaming the U.S. cuz we basically on the chunky side overall? I wonder who did this study? A bunch wheat germ munching weasels?
Obama: Bush speech a ‘political attack’
Speaking to parliamentarians on the occasion of Israel’s 60th anniversary, Bush warned against engagement with terrorists and other enemies.
“Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along,” Bush said. “We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.’
So what? So what if the statement was made with Hussein in mind? You don’t ‘talk’ to egotistical lunatics. To think you can change their minds and hearts is beyond egotistical. Pretty much describes B. Hussein, doesn’t it? What an over sized ego that man has. He is NOT the Messiah!
Cozy dealings for Ford, Cooper
The government’s key witness in former City Councilman Edmund Ford Sr.’s federal extortion and bribery trial said he and Ford regularly did favors for one another though never discussed bribes.
Cooper also said Ford had never accepted money before the 2006 FBI sting in which Cooper passed him $8,900 while wearing hidden recording equipment.
“I did not trick him,” said Cooper, who has admitted he cooperated with the FBI in hopes of getting a sentencing break on his money-laundering conviction last year. “I handed it to him and he could have pushed it back. He didn’t have to take it.”
The guy is a slime ball. I don’t believe he never took any money before this incident!
Verse of the Day
Zephaniah 3:17
17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
