FBI boosts efforts to find SoCal al-Qaida suspect
The FBI has launched a publicity campaign in Afghanistan to announce a $1 million reward for information about an American from California charged with treason.
Adam Yahiye Gadahn, 29, grew up in Riverside County. He is “an integral part of al-Qaida’s media and recruitment branch (and) has endorsed terrorist activity,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said Friday.
Gadahn was indicted by a federal grand jury in Santa Ana in 2005. He was charged with one count of treason and two counts of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
Now, if we could just get a grand jury to indict a few others, much easier found, like in D.C.? Oh, and there’s that one in Georgia too.
Chertoff downplays terrorist nuclear threat
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff is downplaying the idea of a nuclear attack by terrorists after recent postings on al-Qaida-affiliated Web sites exhorted militants to pursue weapons of mass destruction for use against the U.S.
Chertoff, speaking at Oxford Union on Friday, said that while officials acknowledge al-Qaida’s interest in developing such capability, the U.S. was more concerned about terrorists’ use of conventional arms.
This clown “downplays” a little too much in my opinion!
Ford to open new plant in Mexico
US giant Ford is to invest $3bn (£1.5bn) in a new car plant in Mexico, the biggest investment in the country’s manufacturing sector.
The move is a blow to American car workers who had hoped the factory would be built in the United States.
Ford has lost more than $15bn (£7.5bn) over the past two years and says the new facility is crucial to its future.
There’s another one that can be added to the ever growing list of why I will NEVER buy a Ford product!
Colorado governor okays open bathrooms
“What this bill now does do is allow men to go into women’s restrooms and locker rooms and vice versa because we are told that we cannot discriminate against someone with a transgender status,” he warns.
Colorado lawmakers also slapped voters in the face with a provision that prohibits a public referendum or petition drive to overturn the law. Hausknecht says the only choice Colorado voters have now is to send people to the legislature that will act to reverse the law.
So, if I’m in the airport in Colorado, spill something on my shirt, go into the restroom to change, some male type can just come walking in and whip it out? Remind me to avoid any flight changes in Denver! Sounds like an assault on the 4th Amendment: ” The right of the people to be secure in their persons…”
Israeli envoy: ‘Disgrace’ UN food agency invited Ahmadinejad to summit
“To imagine on the podium of a UN organization a leader who calls for the destruction of a member state is a disgrace for every democrat,” Ambassador Gideon Meier was quoted as saying in an interview in the daily La Repubblica.
“And let’s not talk about the rest. He denies the Holocaust, he is the principal actor behind terrorism, he has a military nuclear program, he violates human rights of the Iranian people.”
In their usual fashion, the Useless Numnuts ignore reality.
Billboard Cameras Scrutinize Features of Passersby
One of the Quividi cameras was pointed out to lawyer Sam Cocks, 26, on the streets of New York City over Memorial Day weekend.
“That’s disturbing,” Cocks told The Times. “I would say it’s arguably an invasion of one’s privacy.”
Uh…yeah, I do believe it is an invasion. But the other side of the coin, you’re out in public, how much privacy can you really expect? I definitely don’t much care for the idea though.
Wilson schools assess cost to fight suit
A couple identified in court papers only as Jane and John Doe sued the school district after a Praying Parents group was allowed to link to Lakeview Elementary’s Web site, put notices in the school newsletter and distribute “I Prayed” stickers for teachers to wear for the National Day of Prayer.
Jane Doe, who is Jewish, testified in the December trial that her son, who attended Lakeview Elementary in Mt. Juliet, cried because other students had “prayer buddies.”
What? Jewish kids don’t pray? I wasn’t aware the National Day of Prayer was just for Christians. There is NO “separation of church and state” clause in the Constitution, ANYWHERE! Maybe the kid didn’t have any “prayer buddies” cuz he’s a dork, or something.
Retailers report impact of rebate checks
Owner of Paasche’s Paint Your Own Pottery Studio in Hattiesburg, Mauroner has seen business slow primarily because of high gas prices and their impact on his customers’ budgets.
“What we do is a luxury,” Mauroner said. “We’ve relaxed our studio fees for the past three months just so our customers can afford to come and paint. If stimulus checks have impacted our business, I haven’t seen it.”
Local retailers hoped to see some boost in sales when the first economic stimulus checks were deposited in late April. A handful have reported mixed results ranging from no impact to helping sales at a time when high gas prices and rising food costs have caused consumers to budget their disposable income more carefully.
Just one more really STOOPID idea to come out of D.C.! The only economy that’s going to get a real boost is China’s! Jackasses!
Plan to reunite polygamist sect’s children falls through
It is extremely disappointing to watch someone in the judicial system not be willing to stay at the table long enough to fix the problem when there are so many innocent children’s lives at stake,” said sect leader Willie Jessop, who said most of the provisions of the plan were agreeable to everyone. “How do you give up when we were so close?”
The day’s deliberation followed Thursday’s Texas Supreme Court ruling that the state didn’t have enough evidence of physical or sexual abuse to take the children into custody.
Oh, I dunno…..babies having babies might be a real good indication.
Judges Upholds Voting Rights Act
Under the Voting Rights Act, certain parts of the country — mostly in the South — are subject to rigid requirements in how they handle voting. The utility board sought to move its polling places from a garage to a school, Coleman said. To do that, it had to seek permission from the Justice Department.
Coleman argued that obtaining such approval is costly and time-consuming, and discourages local governments from making changes that might benefit the community.
Excuse me, but why is it necessary to waste time and money on moving where folks vote? I’d much rather go vote in a school, and not a garage! I mean seriously, is this the best they can for a “test case”? More invasion of the fed’ral gubmint!
