Good Stuff

17 June 2008, 7:46 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Opinion.

From a self proclaimed liberal on some things, and conservative on others, this piece written by David G. Hallstrom, Sr. on 22 December 2005, speaks volumes that can easily apply in 2008.

Attention Democrats

Attention far left Democrats and all the rest, of you Democrats, who are too afraid of the far left or to hungry for power to stand up for America. Stop insulting me, stop ridiculing me, stop trying to run my life, stop trying to take away my freedoms and stop endangering me and my loved ones.

I know that you have never met me, don’t know me and don’t even know I exist. I am not famous, not rich and not powerful, but I am one of the slightly under three hundred million Americans that you are harming. I am one of the little people that you think are too ignorant to know what is best for themselves. One of the little people that you think has to be led around by the nose by superior people like you. One of the little people that, as far as you are concerned, doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things. I am one of the idiots that believe in things like, morals, values, freedom, kindness, helping others, fair play, courtesy, manners, dignity, respect, caring for one’s family, etc.. One of the idiots that loves his country, believes in his country and is proud to be an American. One of the idiots that celebrates the Fourth Of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and yes (horrors), even Christmas.

Granola State

Employers ponder tough tactics to halt smoking

Weyers, owner of a health care benefits administrator in Lansing, Mich., gave his 200 employees an ultimatum in 2004: Quit smoking in 15 months or lose your job. He refused to hire smokers. Ultimately, he extended his smoking ban to employees’ spouses and monitored compliance through mandatory random blood testing.

Uh….I beg your pardon? I don’t remember hearing about the POS extending his gestapo tactics to spouses. And the state let him get away with this? Isn’t that a major invasion of privacy, not to mention a violation of one’s civil rights? But then, hey, what do I know. I’m just a wingnut, right?

California, on both the state and local levels, has been at the forefront of anti-smoking efforts with laws to ban smoking in public places. A law went into effect in January that prohibits drivers from smoking when children are in the car. Still, smoking costs the state an estimated $8.6 billion in direct medical costs and $7.3 billion in lost productivity a year, according to the California division of the American Cancer Society.

And I’d bet ya dollars to donuts, just about everyone of those “you better live the way we tell you to live types” are VERY so called pro-choice. It’s ok to murder babies, but when you’re adult making decisions for yourself? Hey, that’s a big no-no!

In addition to lost work hours, employers have a vested interest in getting their workforce to kick the habit, given that they pay a large portion of health care costs and are the main source of health insurance for more than half the population.

Hey! Here’s a novel idea! Get the hell out of the health care industry, and you just might see the costs decreasing. For a bunch of yahoos who have created a major problem to begin with, they are all fired excited about creating new ones, and controlling your lives t’boot! Ain’t that just like ‘em. sigh…

Safeway prefers to influence its smokers through incentives rather than penalties, said Larree Renda, an executive vice president with the grocery chain. “Our focus right now has been one of being supportive and trying to help people quit smoking,” she said.

Excuse me, but what if said person actually enjoys smoking, on his own time, and is in pretty good health? Are companies going to force people to quite drinking too? How many are in poor health due to drinking? How ’bout those morons who get behind the wheel of a car and drive while under the influence? Better thought….enforce some NO DRIVING rules. There are a lot of health care costs involved in drunk driving accidents. Wait a minute…..even better…..NO THINKING ALLOWED. You are no longer allowed to think for yourself. You might make a stupid decision, and cost someone an extra dime or two in the process.

I find it absolutely amazing that those who whine the loudest are the ones who want to control my life, in all aspects. Here’s an idea: How ’bout you run YOUR life, and I’ll take care of mine, eh?

The instrusion of personal life the left wants, the more they complain about the direction things are going. Damn. They get what they want, and decide it’s not enough. Are all these people so unhappy with their own lives, they want to make ours miserable too? It’s not just the smoking police, it’s every damn thing that comes along. It’s getting freaking old. They bitch about Bush destroy the Constitution, yet at every turn, they are doing just that.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors is considering a law that would ban the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products in the city’s drugstores.

Oh, it’s a right to spread HIV/AIDS, but it’s not ok to sell a legal product? It’s ok to push a destructive agenda on society, but not ok grown ups to make their own choices when it comes to smoking? Drugs are ok (marijuana, clean needles, etc.), as long as it’s not nicotine?

I know the whole state of California is full of libtards, so how did it come to this? When did the rational become outnumbered by the irrational?

Gore will go the extra mile for Obama

Al Gore announced his endorsement of Barack Obama on Monday and promised to help the Democrat achieve what eluded him — the presidency.

“I present to you the next president of the United States, Barack Obama!” Gore said in a brief introduction of Obama at a Detroit fundraiser. He later appeared with Obama at a 20,000-person rally at the Joe Louis Arena.

Looks like the most of the moonbats and major Kool Aid drinkers will be out in full force now.

Bishops among protesters as “gay marriages” begin

The seven Roman Catholic bishops of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles say “the church cannot approve of redefining marriage” to include same-sex couples.

Hours before gay and lesbian couples began marrying in California yesterday, the bishops released a statement declaring that marriage “has a unique place in God’s creation, joining a man and a woman in a committed relationship in order to nurture and support the new life for which marriage is intended.”

It’s sure nice to know that not all in the American Catholic Church has bought into the “tolerance” of sin.

U.S. gas now a big bargain in Mexico

“If domestic supply is already tight, why are you selling it to Mexico?” Arechiga wondered. “You create an artificial demand when you start selling to countries that are subsidizing.”

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, said he plans to do some questioning in Washington.

“What can the United States do? Tell a country not to subsidize a product?” he said. “This could be a trade issue. … Are they subsidizing to violate any trade agreement that the U.S. and Mexico might have?”

That first question is the one I want answered. Do we not buy oil from Mexico? They, at least, are drilling, even if they don’t have the refineries. We aren’t drilling, but yet are selling the refined product. Ok, I’m seriously confused. I don’t think subsidizing is such a great idea. Takes away free market. I’ll be the first to admit I’m as dumb as a box of rocks, but this just flat out isn’t making any sense.

Report: Israel and Hamas Agree on Truce to Begin Thursday

The agreement is designed to end months of daily Palestinian rocket and mortar assaults on Israeli border towns and bruising Israeli retaliation. Egypt has been laboring for months to broker an agreement between Israel and the Islamic militant Hamas, which do not have direct contact with each other.

Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev would not confirm or deny a deal.

“What is important is not only words but deeds,” Regev said. “If there is a total absence of terror attacks from Gaza into Israel and if there is an end to arms buildup in Gaza Strip and movement on the hostage Gilad Shalit that will indeed be a new reality.”

Israeli defense officials, however, said they expect negotiations on Shalit to begin on Sunday, a tacit admission that a truce was in the works.

To say I’m less than optimistic would be an understatement. How many so called “truces” have they negotiated, and how many did Hamas, or some other radical Muslim organization, break? Ah, but then, if it a different bunch who launches a rocket, or blows up a bus, and Israel retaliates, B. Hussein’s buddies can claim that it was Israel that shattered the “peace”, and the ‘world’ will condemn them, instead of Hamas. I think I’ve got it figured out……maybe. Now, where’s Shalit??????

$50,000 reward offered in Governor’s Mansion fire

“It is a hypothesis; we’re not saying it was definitely politically motivated,” Gonzalez said. “If this was a thrill seeker, they could’ve chosen any building, but this was the residence of the governor.”

According to footage from a security camera that caught the arsonist throwing an explosive object onto the 152-year-old mansion’s porch, he appears to be a white man in his 20s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall, wearing a ball cap and a dark shirt with “work-type” gloves, State Fire Marshal Paul Maldonado said. The man also appeared to be wearing dark footwear and blue jeans or cargo-style pants, he said.

Career “student” comes to mind. But like the guy says, it’s just a hypothesis. Did the guy think the governor was in residence? I’ve got a lot of questions about this, and I don’t even live in Texas anymore.

Ahmadinejad urges OPEC to unpeg oil from USD

The President said there is glut in oil market calling for setting up an oil bourse and a bank by OPEC member states in order to optimize situation in energy market.

High-ranking officials from 12 OPEC member countries are participating in the event held at Abbasi hotel.

“The hard currency reserves of OPEC countries have been heavily affected by the fall in the dollar,” said the president.

So, Ahmabooboo wants us all to bow to the Bank of Opec? I seriously doubt if any of the BIG guys have even noticed a drop. All they have to do is whip another grand or two to pay for whatever it is that floats their boat on any given day.

‘Danger Signs’ as Clinton Supporters Resist Obama

Sen. Barack Obama has emerged from his bruising battle for the Democratic presidential nomination with only a six point lead over Sen. John McCain and claiming his Republican rival has been getting a “pass” from the media.

First off, I’m going to bite the bullet, and say that obviously, the Shrilldebeast were a WHOLE lot more informed than B. Hussein supporters. Second, the MSM has done it’s best to dig up dirt on McFeingold, and haven’t really found enough to work with in the slime department.

Oil Battle Shapes Up Off Florida

As state-owned energy companies from Vietnam, Malaysia, China, and Norway turn to the Western Hemisphere for oil opportunities, Senator McCain is moving to allow America to compete.

Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, will today call for lifting the federal moratorium on oil exploration in America’s coastal waters.

And just why shouldn’t we be drilling off our own shores? If the numerous foreign companies are eying the areas so close to us, why shouldn’t we? Some folks need to get off their collective high horses, while removing their heads from their hinders!

House leadership not hit by slump

House leaders are doing well financially during this economic slump.

Their lucrative investments and, in many cases, well-compensated spouses supplement their House salaries.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, one of the wealthiest members of Congress, and her real estate magnate husband, Paul Pelosi, spent between $1 million and $5 million to buy the home they had been living in on San Francisco’s Broadway. They also own a vineyard in St. Helena, Calif., worth between $5 million and $25 million and a town house in Norden, Calif., valued at between $1 million and $5 million, according to annual financial disclosures released Monday.

Well, good one her. Now, if she and her cronies would get the hell out of the way, perhaps the rest of us would have a chance to achieve what she and the Mr has.

4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
