An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

Sunday Afternoon Shopping

After church this afternoon, the Mr and I went out for lunch, as is our normal Sunday afternoon ritual. Today, we stopped into a little place in Selmer called ….the Elms, I think. Well, whatever the name of it is, if you are ever in that area, stop by, if for nothing else than than a REAL chocolate shake! You know, the old fashioned kind that does NOT come out of those fast food type places. Oh, and the food is pretty good too! :)   I got a big kick out a little boy sitting across from us that had a toy gun.  I don’t think I ever saw that in Wisconsin.  Heh.

Sometimes, after lunch, we’ll go to Lowe’s and buy plants that I’ll stick in a pot, and feel like a grown up gardener. Today, we bought a new piece of furniture. It’s not like we need anymore furniture, we just need some place to put the stuff that’s still in the boxes. You know, those doodads that accumulate. Stuff you don’t need, but just can’t get rid of.

We’ve taken a few pretty cool trips to some really cool places, and of course, being of the female persuasion, there was ALWAYS something I’d spy that I just couldn’t live without!

When the brat and I went to Europe, I had to get some dust catchers, and that’s what got me started. There was that Lalique cat in Paris, the Celtic Cross in Ireland, and a number of other little items from Scotland and England too.

When the Mr and I got married, we went to Chitzen Itza for our honeymoon. Do you think I was going to come back without a few Mayan remakes? Seriously now! I’ve got a little bitty El Castillo, and that reclining looking guy of course. So, with the success of that trip, we went to Ireland together, and found a few more Celtic Crosses, and a Galway cross too. Don’t forget the Waterford stuff! Then…. well, you get the picture.

We were in desperate need of another BIGGER curio cabinet. We have a little one in the bedroom that is absolutely jam packed. Gotta spread the dust catchers out a bit y’know.

I had been to this particular furniture store (Henco) a few times, and absolutely love it. If you want it, they’ve got it, from bath fixtures and flooring, to any kind of furniture you can imagine, indoor…outdoor, fancy, practical, you name it, they’ve got it. This was the Mr’s first time. I question whether or not he’ll go back with me again. :) If you start at the front door, and walk all the way through the place, I’d have to say it’s a good mile. Ok, maybe not, but you COULD do a mile at the minimum, if you snooped every nook and cranny.

We are now the proud owners of a new curio cabinet that will go in the entry way. Wonder if I have enough stuff to fill it? Hmmm….
