One Election Outcome Certain: A Lefty Will Win White House

Both major party candidates are southpaws, contributing to a largely unexplained phenomenon that has vexed researchers and historians — and drawn notice from a federal judge destined for the Supreme Court. Though left-handers comprise just 10% of the population, they are dominating presidential politics.

Their recent success transcends ideology. Since 1974, presidents Ford, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Clinton have all favored their left hands, while President Carter and the current President Bush are righties. The trait is also not exclusive to winning candidates: Vice President Gore is left-handed, as are past presidential contenders Robert Dole, John Edwards, Bill Bradley, and Ross Perot. A prominent New Yorker who flirted with a White House bid, Mayor Bloomberg, is a lefty.

Not really sure what that all means, other than the Mr could be prez too! He’s a lefty.

Overseas markets get taste of whiskey

For centuries, vodka has been the liquor of choice in Russia, but that isn’t deterring the Jim Beam Party Crew.

A recent fixture on the Moscow bar scene, this band of ambassadors for Jim Beam bourbon tromps from bar to bar persuading patrons to sample the Kentucky-made whiskey. Lately the group has carried hammers, plungers and other tools as part of its shtick — hoping to “fix” Russians’ often-scant knowledge of bourbon, an American drink.

Well, at least we exporting SOMETHING that might help. But I’m curious. The story starts out talking about Jim Beam, yet they have a picture of a bottle of Jack Daniels featured. it’s not until later in the story, my image of JD is totally shattered.

Brown-Forman Corp., the Louisville, Ky., maker of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, and Beam Global, a unit of Fortune Brands Inc., Deerfield, Ill., have long exported their whiskeys to developed markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia. But now they’re trying to capitalize on the ballooning middle classes in emerging markets to complement their steady, but typically slower, growth in the U.S. and conventional international markets.

Are they telling me that Jack Daniels is actually made in Kentucky???? I must have read it wrong, or am totally misunderstanding. Must need more .

Pasadena children’s deaths bring grief and a denial

One day after leading authorities to the charred bodies of his two children, 27-year-old Randy Sylvester said Sunday night they were killed because he owed someone money.

He says he wasn’t the one to kill the siblings, who were remembered Sunday night in an emotional vigil at the southeast Houston railroad tracks where they were found.

Are there really such people who would murder children because of money? Sadly, I do believe there are. Do I think this POS is blameless? Oh HELL no!

Soldiers raid Tijuana cartel party

Mexican soldiers captured at least 10 suspected members of a Tijuana-based drug cartel in a raid on a child’s baptism party in this border city, officials said Sunday.

A total of 61 people were arrested in the sweep late Saturday, including the band hired to play the party and three city police officers, Baja California state police spokesman Agustin Perez told The Associated Press.

Authorities had been tracking the movements of suspected members of the Arellano Felix drug cartel for days and acted “at a moment when they were vulnerable,” the spokesman said.

Soldiers also seized various rifles and handguns, police uniforms, 460 grams of methamphetamine and 5,000 rounds of ammunition at the party, held at a rented Tijuana event hall known as the “The Little Rascal.”

Is this going to curb the violence that is invading our borders? Not even a drop in the bucket! But it’s a nice attempt and I congratulate them for their efforts. Let’s see how long it takes for the corrupt Mexican gubmint to spring some, or all, of these guys.

Obama Camp Closely Linked With Ethanol

When VeraSun Energy inaugurated a new ethanol processing plant last summer in Charles City, Iowa, some of that industry’s most prominent boosters showed up. Leaders of the National Corn Growers Association and the Renewable Fuels Association, for instance, came to help cut the ribbon — and so did Senator Barack Obama.

So, he’s not just a socialist, he’s a stupid one too? I guess we can add B. Hussein to the list of people to blame for the rising cost of food. :?

Sarkozy to the Knesset: Nuclear Iran is ‘totally unacceptable’

I reiterate here in the clearest manner: As far as France is concerned, a nuclear Iran is totally unacceptable,” Sarkozy declared. “France is determined to continue to lead, along with its partners, a policy that integrates gradually intensifying sanctions with openness, in case Iran chooses to honor its international obligatons.”

France, he said, “is Israel’s friend, and will always stand by her side when her security or existence are threatened. Those who scandalously call for the destruction of Israel will always, always, find France blocking their path.”

But let me ask this: Is France willing to back up it’s words with actions? Will France do what France does? Raise the white flag if the going gets tough? Legitimate question.

Boris aide quits after saying ‘go home’ to blacks

In the interview, Mr McGrath was questioned about a claim before the Mayoral election that a Johnson victory would provoke an exodus of older black Londoners to the West Indies.

Mr McGrath was quoted as saying in response: “Well, let them go if they don’t like it here.” After the interview was posted on the-latest.com website, Mr McGrath insisted he did not intend to suggest he agreed with the sentiment.

After reading this article, I have to ask: So what’s the problem? You’ve got people whining, tell ‘em to go home. Simple. Why is it that everyone has to bring color or religion into the issue? And why is it that the Brits have become so lily livered as to give into crap like this?

Republican Hagel says he’d consider VP offer from Obama

Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel said Friday he would consider serving as Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s running mate if asked, but he doesn’t expect to be on any ticket.

Hagel’s vocal criticism of the Bush administration since the 2003 invasion of Iraq has touched off speculation that if Obama were to pick a Republican running mate, it might be Hagel. Hagel said in an interview with The Associated Press that after devoting much of his life to his country — in the Senate and the U.S. Army — he would have to consider any offer.

If that spineless piece of crap ends up on Dhimmi ticket, he better be prepared for all out war with the Republicans. I don’t know why he hasn’t switched parties before now!

Some searchers still expect to see rare woodpecker

For the last three years, researchers in camouflage and waders have slogged through the east Arkansas woods hoping to spot a rare bird that so far seems unwilling to be seen.

Some scientists still believe the ivory-billed woodpecker exists in the Big Woods, but they haven’t been able to capture a sharp image of its remarkable 30-inch wing span and glossy black and white feathers on film or video camera.

Maybe the bird just isn’t there. Or perhaps, he doesn’t want company and has pulled up the welcome mat?

Democrat Steps Back From Call to ‘Socialize’ Oil Refineries

Reps. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.) have said in recent weeks that U.S. oil refineries should be “socialized” — that is, nationalized and run by the federal government. But Waters apparently is now backing away from those comments.

In speaking to oil company executives at a May 22 hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Waters tried to hold her tongue but nonetheless said: “This liberal will be all about socializing, uh, uh … would be about basically taking over and the government running all of your companies.”

Large pile of male bovine manure! She meant exactly what she said! However, she obviously doesn’t have the spine to stand by her words, and y’know, that’s almost as bad as the words themselves.

Expanded water plant in Germantown sinking croquet courts

Local croquet players have played a final round on one of the courts next to Germantown’s Johnson Road Water Plant.

A higher demand for water has forced city officials to expand the water plant, which means digging up the croquet court.

I am in complete and utter shock! Do people actually still play croquet?

Zimbabwe police raid opposition headquarters

Police raided the Zimbabwe’s opposition party’s headquarters and took away about 60 people Monday, a spokesman said a day after the party’s presidential candidate withdrew from a runoff against Robert Mugabe.

Party spokesman Nelson Chamisa said most of the people taken away were women and children who had fled state-sponsored political violence and sought refuge at the Movement for Democratic Change offices. He did not immediately have further details.

Stories like this make me wonder….how long before such things happen in this country? We’ve already had attacks on the “opposition party” headquarters. In 2004 there were numerous attacks on various Republican headquarters. Vandalism was at a premium. And other than those cowards in Milwaukee (tire slashing), no one I’m aware of was prosecuted. And THOSE weasels actually got away with it!

Jack Daniel’s is distilled in Lynchburg TN, but the company that owns them is headquartered in Louisville.

Like Leinies is still brewed in Chippewa Falls, but the company that owns them is headquartered in South Africa.

     ‘Soldiers raid Tijuana cartel party
Corrupt Mexican government? Calderon is one of yours, darling.
Obama Camp Closely Linked With Ethanol’
Who mandated in 2005 that the amount of biofuel (usually ethanol) that must be mixed with gasoline sold in the United States rise to 4 billion gallons by 2006, 6.1 billion gallons by 2009 and 7.5 billion gallons by 2012? No, don’t tell me…
‘Sarkozy to the Knesset: Nuclear Iran is ‘totally unacceptable’
‘Will France do what France does? Raise the white flag if the going gets tough? Legitimate question.’
No, it isn’t. France was overrun by mad Germans armed to the teeth, Twice. Why is it all their fault? Try being invaded and see how it feels.

Wow! Could you be more racist, please? You obviously have no idea of British colonial history. Why am I not surprised? Enoch Powell died a while ago now.

Ah, Obama the uniter! Hey, it was good enough for Abe!

Life is not all gridiron and baseball.
    Zimbabwe police raid opposition headquarters
Gee! Not getting a little paranoid, are we? Still, let’s see if the US can get through the election season with the opposition offices unscathed, huh? And remember just who the opposition is…
