An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings
An Idea!
OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.
Can’t buy it? Tough! Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled fillet of camel ass!!!

Good idea! How can we do that??/
@cristina:
Hmm…..good question. A possible push with those yahoos we call Congress?
O/T: Did you get my email?
Let me know how many bushels you sell at that price. Just make sure you get Argentina and China to go along or you’ll be a long time holding your basket.
@grumps:
I guess the Chinese and Argentines are paying 18 cents a gallon these days? I dunno, I think being fed up is a world wide problem. Then again, I might be wrong and some folks enjoy getting screwed without a smooch first.
I’m just sayin’ let me know how that unilateralism works for ya.
@grumps:
Y’know what grumps? I’m about at the point to where I’d like to go totally “isolationist”! Close the borders, kick out non LEGALs, import nothing, export nothing, grow our own food, make our own stuff, etc. I realize that’s unrealistic in today’s world, but…. sigh…
IF we had some folks in DC with some balls this would be a great IDEA. Back in the early late 70’s and early 80’s we might have been tough enough to sit out a fight over oil, now our pansies in office, and our soft civilians in Cali and a few other states that have ocean fronts, couldn’t last a week without driving to starbucks and having a latte. the arabs got us and they know it…
If I didn’t live it, I’ll say it sounds as a good idea not to import/export anything. And I am not talking only about food. The communist/socialist country I lived in, did not import/export anything. Medical discoveries, latest technologies, anything you can come up with. I’m telling you: not pretty! I can go on until next year with details…
Yeah, I realize it’s not a terribly practical idea. But y’know, if we would allow ourselves to become more self reliant, I’d say we’d have a good chance of a future. The way things stand right now, we’ve been sold down the river by the very people we elect to do just the opposite. I think my frustration level is gonna be off the charts!
I beat you to this one.
