Craving the Melon!

I want watermelon! I don’t know why. I just do. I love watermelon, yet haven’t had any in years. I’m not sure why that is, just haven’t bought it I guess.

While driving home from Texas, I got it into my head that I had to have watermelon. I drove right by a guy selling ‘em on the side of the road, and figured, there will be someone closer to home, so I’ll just wait. Nope. Between that point and here, not one single person on the road selling watermelons. What’s up with that? No watermelon vendor for 25 miles, even though there were vendors about every 10 miles previously? So wrong!

I’m still waiting for the watermelon fairy to show up with a ripe juicy melon. Hmmm…. Probably just as well some guy in a tutu hasn’t knocked on the door. I couldn’t even eat one single brat the Mr grilled yesterday. There’s just something really wrong with being sick on holidays. It’s just not right!

    I suppose that this is the perfect time of the year for watermelon.  If you think it’s rough getting some decent melons there, you should give it a shot here in Okinawa.  They do have them once in a while…about the size of a large orange…
