An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

I Just Lost My Dinner

Don’t ask me why, but every once in a while, I’ll read HuffPo, just out of curiosity, complete boredom, or I need a major chuckle. When I came across The Boracle’s speech posted over there, and read it, I tossed my brat!

The opening line:

There are times in the history of our nation when our very way of life depends upon dispelling illusions and awakening to the challenge of a present danger.

I see a very clear danger. Not from the climate, but from morons like albore.

In such moments, we are called upon to move quickly and boldly to shake off complacency, throw aside old habits and rise, clear-eyed and alert, to the necessity of big changes.

Translation: DRINK THE KOOL AID! I WANT YOUR MONEY!

The survival of the United States of America as we know it is at risk. And even more — if more should be required — the future of human civilization is at stake.

Well, he has one point. Our nation is at risk, but the risk is from people like him! It seems to me that if government would leave us alone, we’d have a better chance of survival. We, the little people, who are too stupid to run our own lives, are quite aware of the challenges. It would be real nice if you’d allow us to solve them without interference.

The climate crisis, in particular, is getting a lot worse — much more quickly than predicted.

Where does he come up with this stuff?? All the evidence I’ve seen is that we are moving towards a cooling cycle. What does he think he’s going to do? He, nor anyone else, has the power to control the planet. I’m sorry, I realize he believes he has the power, but he just doesn’t!

Scientists with access to data from Navy submarines traversing underneath the North polar ice cap have warned that there is now a 75 percent chance that within five years the entire ice cap will completely disappear during the summer months.

There’s a chance I’m going to be a size 8 at some time in the future, but I’m not going to go out and buy new clothes. Looking at these pictures, honestly, I can’t tell the difference. If the ice cap is melting so fast, why isn’t there obvious evidence?

Now I’m no expert, obviously, but it sure looks to me like there is a bit MORE ice than there was last year.

Two major studies from military intelligence experts have warned our leaders about the dangerous national security implications of the climate crisis, including the possibility of hundreds of millions of climate refugees destabilizing nations around the world.

Now there’s an interesting term….climate refugees. As best I can figure, there have been climate refugees for as long as there’s been winter! I guess Mr Bore hasn’t noticed there there are weather cycles. I remember one Christmas as a kid in Virginia it was 75 degrees. I don’t recall any “sky is falling” warnings. I also remember all the fear mongering about the coming ice age. Obviously, it never happened. But that was a “consensus” too. Luckily, people didn’t seem as gullible back then, as they do now.

And by the way, our weather sure is getting strange, isn’t it?

Has there ever been a year that weather wasn’t strange? Some days, it’s hot. Then a few months later, it’s cold. How odd. We had a neighborhood tornado shelter in Waco, when I was a real young ‘un. I remember spending quite a few times in that thing, all the neighbors, with cats, dogs and birds. Odd. And didn’t this last winter produce some serious snow fall records? Odd.

Like a lot of people, it seems to me that all these problems are bigger than any of the solutions that have thus far been proposed for them, and that’s been worrying me.

Uh oh. Maybe not enough folks have been buying into his ‘carbon credits’ company? He needs the funds to keep up with his preferred lifestyle of private jets and energy hog house.

We’re borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the planet. Every bit of that’s got to change.

Well, he’s partially right. We do need to end our dependence on foreign oil. We need to stop borrowing from China. We need to become self reliant. But we are NOT going to destroy the planet! What arrogance!

Today I challenge our nation to commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.

Carbon free? Does he even know what carbon is? One little click of the mouse, and voila! Carbon.

A few years ago, it would not have been possible to issue such a challenge.

A few years ago, people seemed to be a lot smarter. :?

When I first went to Congress 32 years ago, I listened to experts testify that if oil ever got to $35 a barrel, then renewable sources of energy would become competitive.

Sadly, it’s been you and your cronies who have been standing in the way!

In order to foster international cooperation, it is also essential that the United States rejoin the global community and lead efforts to secure an international treaty at Copenhagen in December of next year that includes a cap on CO2 emissions and a global partnership that recognizes the necessity of addressing the threats of extreme poverty and disease as part of the world’s agenda for solving the climate crisis.

Wanna cut down on CO2 emissions? Slap some duct tape on this bozo. Carbon dioxide is produced by all animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms during respiration and is used by plants during photosynthesis. In unison now…..DUH! We should all stop breathing? Cut down all the trees, send the diamonds to outerspace, and cap all volcanos!

Well, if ya wanna read the whole thing, be my guest. Just make sure you have your handy dandy barf bag available. He’s very long winded.

I wonder….is there something wrong with a longer growing season? I would have thought this would be a good thing? Silly me. Enlighten me oh Boracle!

Hrm, his experts seem to be wrong. It’s four times that, and the “renewable” sources still need subsidies to compete.

Wonder what else experts are wrong about.

    @HeatherRadish:

Pfft! His experts are on his payroll, and they’re going to manipulate data and contort themselves into ANYTHING that will please the Boracle. He’s been proven a liar, yet he continues on with the same lies, and people just lap it up like it MIGHT be truth.
