A Must Read
One of my favorite bloggers (yes, I have many favorites), Lance Burri, who sadly only posts about once a week, has come up with a possible explanation for the big to do in Berlin for B. Hussein.
Obama das Grosse (Obama the Great? The Magnificent?)
Just a small snippet:
Judging by my own travels through the internet, conservatives think there’s something funny about all this – in particular, about that campaign flyer. Something odd. Fishy. Improper, perhaps.
Liberals think there’s something funny about conservatives’ reactions. Basically: so? They distributed a flyer. In German. So what?
I’ll try to explain.
Obama is a U.S. Senator running for President of the United States. Right? So: why is he campaigning in Germany?
Because that’s what this looks like: distributing literature, promoting an event; trying to gin up a nice big crowd to give the appearance of momentum and popularity. Standard campaign tactics.
Except…usually, you target the people who can vote.
It’s worth your time to read the whole thing.
Precious!
I came across this adorable picture while searching for something else. This is an ‘awwwww…..how cute’ picture if ever I’ve seen one. And of course, I had to swipe it!
I hope Mr. Stern doesn’t mind.
I just couldn’t resist!
REAL Hope!
This is a true story!
A son asked his father, ‘Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?’ The father who, despite having a heart condition, says ‘Yes’.
They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying ‘Yes’ to his son’s request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, ‘Dad, let’s join the Ironman together.’ To which, his father said ‘Yes’ too.
For those who don’t know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever.
The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.
Father and son went on to complete the race together.

Utter Insanity!
Police: Church targeted because of liberal views
An unemployed man accused of opening fire with a shotgun and killing two people at a Unitarian church apparently targeted the congregation out of hatred for its support of liberal social policies, police said Monday.
This is insane! Literally insane. I’m none too fond of liberal ’causes’, but I’m not about to go shoot up a church who advocates for them.
“It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that and his stated hatred of the liberal movement,” Owen said at a news conference.
This kind of thing seriously chaps my hide! There are jobs out there, the problem is, some folks think they are above doing the dirty work. As one who has cleaned toilets and scrubbed floors for a living in the past, a pay check is a pay check, and if it feeds your kids, do it! Not knowing the man, or his actual frame of mind, other than nuttier than the proverbial fruitcake, I can’t imagine that he was too good to wash dishes, or pick up garbage. NO ONE IS!
The Unitarian-Universalist church promotes progressive social work, including advocacy of women and gay rights. The Knoxville congregation also has provided sanctuary for political refugees, fed the homeless and founded a chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, according to its Web site.
I’m afraid I’ll have to disagree with the term “church” here. But that’s for another time. They could be practicing Wiccan rituals, but it does not give this POS, or anyone else the right to shoot, and kill, another human being. Self defense is one thing. Disagreeing with politic policies is something else altogether.
“He certainly intended to take a lot of casualties,” Owen said. “He had 76 rounds with him.”
Police said Adkisson carried a 12-gauge semiautomatic shotgun into the church in a guitar case, but it appeared no specific person was targeted. A search of his house also turned up a .38-caliber handgun, Owen added.
Owen said authorities believe the suspect had gone to the Unitarian church because of “some publicity in the recent past regarding its liberal stance on things.”
The one thing that seriously bothers me is there were children on the stage performing for the ‘congregation’. Was he planning on murdering children? Why didn’t the cops just shoot him. Say he tried to escape…..something! Save a lot of taxpayer money.
Unitarians have roots in a movement that rejected Puritan orthodoxy in New England. Although individual Unitarian churches can vary dramatically in outlooks, most congregations retain a deep commitment to social justice, which has led many to embrace liberal stances on the ordination of women, civil rights and gay rights.
I can understand the rejection of the “Puritan orthodoxy”. Dunking women to see if they are witches is a bit much. However, they seem to have rejected the Bible in its entirety. Still, there are NO excuses for this scum’s actions.
Disagreeing with someone’s political views is not a license to kill. Plain and simple.
City of D.C. STILL Doesn’t Get it!
Lawsuit filed against D.C. gun laws
The plaintiff in the Supreme Court case that struck down Washington’s 32-year-old handgun ban filed a new federal lawsuit Monday, alleging the city’s new gun regulations still violate an individual’s right to own a gun for self-defense.
Dick Heller and two other plaintiffs argue that the city’s regulations are “highly unusual and unreasonable” in the complaint filed in U.S. District Court.
The lawsuit claims the District of Columbia continues to violate the intent of the Supreme Court’s June 26 decision by prohibiting the ownership of most semiautomatic weapons, requiring an “arbitrary” fee to register a firearm and establishing rules that make it all but impossible for residents to keep a gun in the home for immediate self-defense.
The D.C. Council was immediately criticized by gun rights advocates when it unanimously passed emergency gun legislation July 15. The law will remain in effect for 90 days, and the council expects to begin work in September on permanent legislation.
The regulations maintain the city’s ban of machine guns, defined in the law as weapons that shoot more than 12 rounds without reloading. That definition applies to most semiautomatic firearms.
I wasn’t aware that the 2nd Amendment was so difficult to understand. Did not the Supreme Court of the United States say the D.C. ban was unconstitutional? Yet, the D.C. powers that be are beyond ignorant when they try a prohibitive tactic like this. I’m no gun expert, to say the least, and I’m looking for honest answers here (Fred? Bushy? Gawfer?). Aren’t there many handguns that have larger clips that will hold more than12 rounds?
All I can figure out is that D.C. LIKES people being defenseless. What other reason could there be?
Oh, wait a minute. It’s the water! Someone spiked the water! They are all seeing pretty colors and singing Kum-baya, with the Dhimmi controlled Congress!
To Lighten MY Mood
You might have seen this, but it still holds true for us ladies who are not shaped like little boys.
The Bathing Suit
When I was a child in the 1950s the bathing suit for the mature figure was boned, trussed and reinforced, not so much sewn as engineered. They were built to hold back and uplift and they did a good job.
Today’s stretch fabrics are designed for the prepubescent girl with a figure carved from a potato chip.
The mature woman has a choice-she can either go up front to the maternity department and try on a floral suit with a skirt, coming away looking like a hippopotamus who escaped from Disney’s Fantasia, or she can wander around every run of the mill department store trying to make a sensible choice from what amounts to a designer range of florescent rubber bands.
What choice did I have? I wandered around, made my sensible choice and entered the chamber of horrors known as the fitting room.
The first thing I noticed was the extraordinary tensile strength of the stretch material. The Lycra used in bathing costumes was developed, I believe, by NASA to launch small rockets from a slingshot, which give the added bonus that if you manage to actually lever yourself into one, you are protected from shark attacks as any shark taking a swipe at your passing midriff would immediately suffer whiplash. I fought my way into the bathing suit, but as I twanged the shoulder strap in place, I gasped in horror – my boobs had disappeared!
Eventually, I found one boob cowering under my left armpit. It took a while to find the other. At last I located it flattened beside my seventh rib..
The problem is that modern bathing suits have no bra cups. The mature woman is meant to wear her boobs spread across her chest like a speed bump. I realigned my speed bump and lurched toward the mirror to take a full view assessment .
The bathing suit fit all right, but unfortunately it only fit those bits of me willing to stay inside it. The rest of me oozed out rebelliously from top, bottom, and sides. I looked like a lump of play dough wearing undersized cling wrap.
As I tried to work out where all those extra bits had come from, the prepubescent sales girl popped her head through the curtain, ‘Oh, there you are,’ she said, admiring the bathing suit.
I replied that I wasn’t so sure and asked what else she had to show me. I tried on a cream crinkled one that made me look like a lump of masking tape, and a floral two piece which gave the appearance of an oversized napkin in a serving ring.
I struggled into a pair of leopard skin bathers with ragged frills and came out looking like Tarzan’s Jane, pregnant with triplets and having a rough day.
I tried on a black number with a midriff and looked like a jellyfish in mourning.
I tried on a bright pink pair with such a high cut leg I thought I would have to wax my eyebrows to wear them.
Finally, I found a suit that fit…a two-piece affair with a shorts style bottom and a loose blouse-type top.
It was cheap, comfortable, and bulge-friendly, so I bought it. My ridiculous search had a successful outcome, I figured.
When I got home, I found a label which read — ‘Material might become transparent in water.’
So, if you happen to be on the beach or near any other body of water this year and I’m there too .. I’ll be the one in cut off jeans and a t-shirt!
Thanks Sharon….I needed that!
Robert Novak Suspending Work
Robert Novak was admitted yesterday to a Boston hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In a written statement given to his publisher, Novak said:
“On Sunday, July 27, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I have been admitted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where doctors will soon begin appropriate treatment.
“I will be suspending my journalistic work for an indefinite but, God willing, not too lengthy period.”
Novak is the long-time editor of the influential newsletter, Evans-Novak Political Report, published by Human Events’ parent company, Eagle Publishing. Novak is also a well-known columnist for the Chicago Sun Times and more recently a Fox News Channel contributor. The 77-year-old Novak recently celebrated his 50th year as a Washington-based journalist.
Prayers for a positive outcome, to Mr Novak and his family.

And So It Begins!
With another tragic shooting in a public place, this time, a church, the left is already making noise to limit the ownership of guns:
Now is the Time for Comprehensive Gun Control
The recent Supreme Court ruling on the second amendment by the Bush and Reagan stacked court insures that our nation’s cities can continue to live in perpetual fear of similar incidents happening around the nation as what happened in Knoxville on Sunday. Cities are already scrambling to deal with the chilling new reality handed down by the Supreme Court this summer, which seems to mean that it is open season for every crazy person who can get their hands on a gun in our nation’s urban centers.
There is a solution though, and it is up to Congress to exercise the political will to make a decision to pass laws which place strict limits on gun ownership and to hold gun sellers strictly accountable for who they sell their products to. We have a responsibility to protect our children and our nation’s citizens have a right to live free of the fear of being visited with violence as they go about their daily lives of working, shopping and worshiping as they choose. As a candidate for federal office I believe that federal government has the responsibility to place strict limits on gun ownership in this country. Gun rights advocates argue that guns make us safe, but I believe that a heavily armed nation is a dangerous place to live. It is time to make our country safe for our children. Now is the time for comprehensive gun control for a safer America.
Horn swaggle! If someone in that church had been carrying a weapon, perhaps the number shot would be far less. Not to mention saving time. money and trouble of having a trial.
This was obviously a VERY disturbed individual. It’s not the fault of the shotgun, this happened because of the one using the weapon. The left can make any excuse for controlling people, and their destroying their rights as individuals, but it all comes down to one thing: Do you really want NOT to have the ability to defend yourself against lunatics? Purveyors of hatred? THUGS?
Honestly, I hope if something like this should ever happen in my church, that my pastor, or one of the members of the congregation is carrying! (I don’t carry a purse to church, but maybe I’ll start now.)
Waste of Oxygen
The idea of giving these morons even more power just boggles the mind.
Enviro-nitwit alert: DNC funds broken turbine
The DNC has contracted with Vermont-based NativeEnergy to offer delegates “Green challenge” carbon offsets to soften the environmental impact of convention travel. That money is then invested in carbon-free “green” energy sources around the country, including a wind turbine installed this year by the Wray School District RD-2. But a Face The State investigation reveals the district’s turbine has never produced marketable energy due to massive equipment malfunctions.
The school district held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the wind turbine February 15th. Officials soon discovered, however, that the turbine was incapable of producing its intended output. “We flipped it back off and on about 10 times since then,” said Superintendent Ron Howard. “It has run, it will run, but it won’t ramp itself up to full capacity.”
How much time, energy, and MONEY has been wasted on ‘projects’ like this? I’d say it’s way past time to send all those yahoos packing!
A Personal Rant
More and more lately, I’m finding myself in the “who gives a happy crap” mode. I read columns and articles, and think, that’s something that should be discussed. Then, I get to it, and realize, I don’t care anymore.
We’re living in a country that has murders on a daily basis, but aren’t suppose to defend ourselves. We’re being overrun by illegals, yet we should feel compassion for those who break the law, and if we don’t, we’re called names. We’re being governed by a bunch of people who put personal politics above the safety and security of the nation.
We hear of solutions to overwhelming problems, but yet, there is always some reason or another “it won’t work”. Well, how do you know if you don’t try? We’ve become a nation of quitters, and that aggravates the bejabbers out of me! The most simple and obvious solutions becomes a battle of wills, between those who do and can, and those who just sit back and whine. Unfortunately, the whiners are a LOT louder, and are heard from a whole lot more often.
I watch the news, and see a media that has turned into a cheer leading section for a candidate just because of the color of his skin. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is probably spinning. Instead of doing the job they signed up to do, REPORT news, they have BECOME the news. The disgusting display should shame every single one of them, but it doesn’t. Content of character? Nice words that have come to mean nothing in today’s world of “journalism”.
I have watched “churches” become the mouth pieces for socialists, and hatred. When did that happen? What happened to the foundation of the country? Strong, independent, faith in the Almighty? Have we forgotten what we are suppose to be all about? I guess so.
The left hates the right, the right tolerates the left. And we all lose in the long run. There are principles on which this nation was founded, yet so many have tried to twist those principles into something completely different to suit their own ideology.
To put it quite bluntly, I’m sick of the lot of ‘em! I’m disgusted, dismayed, revolted even, how this great nation is being drug down into the pits of Hell, and the few that stand up for her, are shouted down in accusations of “intolerance”. Two words: BITE ME!
Problems could be solved quite easily if we would return to our ‘roots’. There is this terrific document, written more than two hundred years ago, that laid out, in simple terms, what’s what. There is an even more terrific Book, that has the foundation of a true civilized people, that could be implemented, if only those who are so wrapped up in themselves would get out of the way.
I’m not going to apologize for my faith. I’m not going to apologize for believing there are laws on the books for a darn good reason, and those who break them should be punished. I’m not going to apologize because I believe this country is being ruined by a large group of incompetents, led by even worse incompetents. I’m not going to apologize for believing evil must be destroyed, when and where it’s found.
Don’t like it? Too bad! I don’t care.
Rant over……temporarily.
Obamarama

Obama ad surge yields no ‘measurable impact’
Sen. Barack Obama’s summer saturation ad campaign in key battleground states has not increased the Illinois Democrat’s poll numbers, according to senior strategists for Sen. John McCain’s campaign and recent independent polling.
Instead, the race has further tightened in some of the pivotal states that are among the Obama campaign’s biggest ad buys – states that both candidates need to reach the winning number of 270 electoral votes.
Perhaps some of those on the outskirts of the drooling masses are starting to wake from their coma, and realize, this guy is NOT who he claims to be.
ADM Bests Exxon as Farmers Gain Influence Over Energy Policy
Fresh from winning a record, subsidy-packed $289 billion agricultural bill over a veto by President George W. Bush, farmers are about to stop a bid backed by oil companies to reduce the amount of corn-based ethanol that must be produced under a government mandate. Meanwhile, lawmakers are threatening oil companies with a “windfall profits” tax, and moves to expand drilling are languishing.
Things may get worse for oil producers, who tend to support Republicans, should Democrats take the White House and expand control of Congress next year. Agribusiness has a nationwide network of support and is more bipartisan in its political giving.
I wonder if those in Congress have a clue at just how much oil impacts our country? Not only does oil produce fuel, it can also be found in those Bic pens, the wrappers for meat at the grocery stores….and the list goes on and on. Food does NOT belong in the gas tank, nor would I want to buy hamburger meat wrapped in corn husks. Not to mention the fact that ethanol is NOT the wonder fuel. You actually get LESS mpg with ethanol, meaning you have to fill up more often. Where’s the savings? Blowing off reality has become the norm for this do nothing Congress.
Local brief: Heat advisory in effect
Afternoon heat-index readings between 105 and 110 degrees are expected. The heat index measures how hot it feels, taking into account the temperature and humidity.
Yup! It’s a tad on the warm side.
Restrictive Immigration Laws Seen as Damper on City Economy
Business leaders have said that, in New York City, their principal concern is the country’s visa policies. In the global market for the best-educated, highest-skilled workers, advocates say the city is weighed down by the fact that each year the federal government issues a limited number of visas for skilled, temporary workers. These 65,000 H-1B visas are distributed via a lottery system that randomly selects who companies will be able to bring into the country and hire.
I would really like to know why Americans aren’t the “best educated, highest skilled workers”? I don’t suppose it has anything to do with the failing education system, and the weasels that run it, would it? I find this extremely insulting, and so should ever single American citizen.
Brown hit by call for resignation and bad poll ratings
Gordon Brown’s standing was further undermined today as a Labour MP urged him to resign, new poll figures cast doubt on his performance, and Harriet Harman said voters had “not seen the best” of him since he became prime minister.
Gordon Prentice, the MP for Pendle, said that Brown ought to stand down because he did not have the skills to lead Labour to victory at the next election.
Perhaps we should learn from Brown’s fiasco as PM, and realize, just because someone is a ‘likable’ fellow, it does NOT mean he is qualified to sit in the big boy chair.
Olmert: Palestinian State is the Goal, But Still Far Off
Speaking at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert provided an overview of the security and regional political situation from his standpoint. “Palestine is the Palestinian national home,” he said.
The establishment of a Palestinian state, though strongly opposed by many in Israel’s security establishment, is something Olmert appears to take for granted – though he said it would not happen soon.
“Israel is the Jewish national home,” he said, “while Palestine is the Palestinian national home… [But] I don’t believe that we will be able to reach a mutual understanding about Jerusalem this year – though in other areas of the talks, matters are clearer.”
At one time, I would have agreed there was a need for a “Palestinian state”. I no longer feel that way. The Pallies don’t want just a small piece of land to call their own. They want Israel, and will murder innocents to get it. Nothing positive will come of giving away even more land to a bunch of murderous thugs. What have they done with land already given to them, after the Jews moved out? Turned a once blossoming desert into a cesspool of hatred.
U.S. Spends $1 Million Researching Syrians ‘Hooked on Hookahs’
For the last several years, U.S. taxpayers have spent more than $1 million to fund research on waterpipes and waterpipe use in studies being conducted at the Syrian Center for Tobacco Study, in Aleppo, Syria.
“We’ve done some studies in Syria just looking at the prevalence of it in the general population, and in average groups like college students,” researcher Ken Ward of the University of Memphis Department of Health and Sport Sciences, told CNSNews.com.
Ward and his associates in Syria have received a number of grants from the federal National Institutes of Health (NIH) over the years for research on waterpipes – $21,000 for a project that ended in 2007; $326,000 in 2006 to establish the Syrian Center for Tobacco Study; $334,000 for center projects in 2004; and $438,000 in 2005.
“Right now we’re doing an intervention study in Syria, looking at how to help people who are interested in quitting to actually quit permanently,” he said.
Are they freaking kidding?????? Who cares why Syrians smoke hookas? They’ve been doing it for thousands of years. Is this the business of the US Congress, or the American taxpayer? Oh hell no!
Jury deliberations start in liquid bomb plot trial
A jury in Britain has started deliberating in the case of eight men accused of plotting to blow up at least seven airliners bound for the United States and Canada.
All eight British suspects have pleaded not guilty to charges that include conspiracy to murder, but some have pleaded guilty to lesser charges including conspiring to cause a public nuisance.
Conspiring to cause a public nuisance? Well, that’s an interesting twist of words. Yeah, I guess when those plans went down, it would have been a ‘public nuisance’. (insert massive sarcasm here)
Sudan threat to expel UN troops
Sudan is threatening to expel peacekeepers stationed in the Darfur region if Omar al-Bashir, the president, is indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Last week, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the chief ICC prosecutor, asked judges to issue an arrest warrant for al-Bashir, who he accuses of ordering the killing non-Arab ethnic groups in Darfur.
“We are telling the world that with the indictment al-Bashir we can’t be responsible for the wellbeing of foreign forces in Darfur,” Bona Malual, a presidential adviser, said in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, on Friday.
Well, we know what the Useless Numnuts will do. They’ll turn tail and run, like they usually do if things get a bit sticky!
S.F. protest against Savage’s autism remarks
Parents of children with autism, along with politicians and other protesters, convened Sunday in front of a San Francisco radio station and renewed calls for the firing of talk show host Michael Savage, who recently suggested that most autism diagnoses were fraudulent.
A crowd of 50 to 60 people gathered in front of KNEW radio’s Townsend Street offices Sunday to protest the decision by KNEW and Talk Radio Network, the company that syndicates Savage’s shows, to keep him on the air despite his controversial statements.
While I do believe autism is very real, I also believe that doctors are over diagnosing the condition. They have done so with ADD, and ADHD, providing little pills for children who are being nothing more than children. That being said, perhaps Savage could have taken a different tack, but then, he wouldn’t be Savage, would he. The man can be extremely offensive, no doubt about that, but no more offensive than the few lefty talk show hosts.
Verse of the Day
Ephesians 4:21-28
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
