Where Were These In 2004?
What a great idea! I’m not going to get one, but it’s still a smart item!
I Don’t Apologize!
I’ve done NOTHING to warrant an apology!
A historic Congressional apology for slavery and Jim Crow discrimination passed this evening on a voice vote.
The apology resolution, introduced shortly after U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., reached Washington in 2007, would be a first step toward racial reconciliation, he said in an eight-minute speech during debate on the House floor.
U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who has sought to create a commission to study the possibility of reparations for descendants of slaves, and U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, were the only others to speak in a half-hour debate.
Cohen’s lengthy resolution, which picked up 120 bipartisan co-sponsors, deals with all aspects of slavery’s horrors and the legal system that evolved in the segregated South after the Civil War and the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments prohibiting racial discrimination.
In his speech, Cohen noted that a form of slavery, the convict-leasing system, existed up until World War II and that the Civil Rights Act of 1965 was passed in an era of “colored” and “white” drinking fountains.
“This is a symbolic resolution but, hopefully, it will begin a dialogue where people will open their hearts and their minds to the problems that face this country — from racism that exists in this country on both sides, and must end if we’re to go forward as the country we were created to be and which we are destined to be,” Cohen said.
Well, that’s peachy. And I’m all for moving forward. However, if this kind of thing continues, we’ll NEVER move toward the future.
I’ll repeat: I do NOT apologize! I have nothing to apologize for at all. Neither does anyone in Congress. Not one single person alive today was either a slave owner, or a slave. NONE. ZERO. ZIP.
Are the African countries going to apologize? No? Well, then why should we?
I’m going to hear the accusation of “racist”, so will others who find this is a ridiculous idea. Racism has absolutely nothing to do with how I feel about this. I find it insulting for our paid “representatives” to waste time in the past when we have so many issues, like national security, the price of gas, and other issues that evidently aren’t high on the list of Congress’ priorities.
Silly me. Cohen is running for re-election, facing two blacks in the primary. Priorities.

Are These The People You Want Teaching Your Children?
The NEA Spells Out Its Radical Policies
The nation’s largest teachers union, the National Education Association, attracted 9,000 delegates to its annual convention in Washington, D.C. over the Fourth of July weekend. Delegates sported buttons with provocative slogans such as “Gay marriage causes Global Warming only because we are so hot!”, “Hate is not a family value,” “The ‘Christian Right’ is neither,” and “Gay Rights are civil rights.”
The delegates passed dozens of hard-hitting resolutions that now become the NEA’s official policy. The resolutions authorize NEA members and employees to lobby for those goals in the halls of Congress and state capitols.
NEA resolutions cover the waterfront of all sorts of political issues that have nothing to do with improving education for schoolchildren, such as supporting statehood for the District of Columbia, a “single-payer health care plan” (i.e., government-run), gun control, ratification of the International Criminal Court Treaty, and taking steps “to change activities that contribute to global climate change.”
The NEA fiercely opposes any competition for public schools, such as vouchers, tuition tax credits, parental option plans, or public support of any kind to non-public schools. The NEA strongly opposes designating English as our official language even though such a designation is supported by more than 80 percent of Americans.
Read the rest here.
Teachers no longer seem to be about education. They are all about how they can screw over the taxpayer in the name of socialism. I am disgusted with the state of public education. Schools are failing all over the country, and what is their solution? Throw money at it! Well, money isn’t going to solve the problem. Return to the basics. Take your politics out of the classroom. And stop filling their head with flat out lies.
Yes, I know there are still teachers out there that went into education because they wanted to share knowledge with the kids. But how are they suppose to do that if their union fights against REAL education at every step?
Abolish the NEA…..NOW!

Sen. Stevens indicted: 7 false statements counts
Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and a figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, has been indicted on seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.
Stevens, 84, has been dogged by a federal investigation into whether he pushed for fishing legislation that also benefited his son, an Alaska lobbyist.
From May 1999 to August 2007, prosecutors said Stevens concealed “his continuing receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of things of value from a private corporation.” The indictment released Tuesday said the items included: home improvements to his vacation home in Alaska, including a new first floor, garage, wraparound deck, plumbing, electrical wiring; as well as car exchanges, a Viking gas grill, furniture and tools.
Justice Department officials were holding a news conference later Tuesday to discuss the charges.
Messages left Tuesday at both Stevens’ Senate office in Washington and his campaign office in Anchorage were not immediately returned.
Criminy! He’s running for re-election? Yup. And his little logo thingy looks a WHOLE lot like B. Hussein’s.
There has always been something about that guy that gave me the creeps! Honestly, I don’t give a flip about his party associations. I no longer consider myself a Republican anyway. What I care about is the abuse those in D.C. keep dishing out on the American people. This guy is just one example of how we keeping allowing ourselves to get screwed over. Sen. Ted Stevens has been sticking it to the taxpayers via absurd “pork” for years.
If he’s not guilty, then drop it. If he is, then prosecute to the fullest extent of the law!

MPD Director Godwin Speaks
MPD director Godwin: Reasons for seeking blogger will be clear when case unsealed
Police director Larry Godwin wouldn’t say why he wants to know who runs a controversial police blog Monday, but said his reasons will be clear when the case is unsealed.
Godwin and the city of Memphis filed a lawsuit earlier this month asking AOL to reveal the identity of the e-mail address linked to MPD Enforcer 2.0, a blog that has been critical of police leadership.
The case has been sealed by Chancellor Kenny Armstrong.
“When it’s unsealed, I think you’ll understand the direction we’re coming from,” Godwin said.
I’ve been checking the MPD Enforcer 2.0 fairly well the last few days. Honestly, the only thing I can see that would get Godwin’s knickers in a twist is the criticism of him. Is his ego so big he can’t take criticism? Evidently.
Godwin said the intense criticism of the department on the blog didn’t bother him, and said he’s never even bothered to look at it.
“I never have read it. I don’t go on Web sites. I don’t read blogs. I’ve got enough e-mail to keep me busy.”
According to the site, they are disputing Godwin’s statement of never reading the site. Well, I have to ask….if he doesn’t even read the site, why the hell is he so adamant about finding out the identities of those who run it?
At the same time, he said he doesn’t begrudge officers the right to free speech and doesn’t think the criticism means there’s a morale problem within the MPD.
Well, call me cynical, but it looks to me like there’s a LARGE moral problem.
“I don’t think there’s trouble within the department,” he said. “I think you’ve just got a handful of officers who want to voice their opinions.”
Ok, so what’s the problem? They are voicing their opinions, yet you want to track them down, using taxpayer funds. I’m no lawyer, but I’d say that was a bit much.
Godwin just returned from a week at an FBI-sponsored training program in Ireland.
Whut? The FBI can’t train in their own country? Ireland is a GREAT place to take a “vacation”. Oh, and who payed for that?
Oh yeah, and there’s that traffic ticket business too, but attached are the normal denials.
A bit of advice for Godwin from an outsider: Don’t even scratch your hind end in public! You are being watched very closely by a lot of folks around the country!

Evangelicals warn against McCain-Romney ticket
“McCain and Romney would be like oil and water,” said evangelical novelist Tim LaHaye, who supported Mr. Huckabee. “We aren’t against Mormonism, but Romney is not a thoroughgoing evangelical and his flip-flopping on issues is understandable in a liberal state like Massachusetts, but our people won’t understand that.”
The Rev. Rob McCoy, pastor of Calvary Chapel in Thousand Oaks, Calif., who speaks at evangelical events across the country, told The Washington Times, “I will vote for McCain unless he does one thing. You know what that is? If he puts Romney on the ticket as veep.
Oh, fer the love of pete! I really wish people get over themselves. The fate of the country is at stake, and they’re playing with its future. Proclaiming such nonsense is going to hand the White House to the least qualified person in the country. And you Huckabee backers? Romney would do a whole lot more for the ticket than he would. This coming from an evangelical! Sheesh!
Metro council may urge voters to reject English-only plan
Under a non-binding resolution introduced by Councilman Ronnie Steine, the council would officially ask voters to reject the English-only push led by Councilman Eric Crafton, who is trying to gather enough voters’ signatures to place the idea on the ballot in November.
If a majority of council members agree with Steine, the council will urge voters not to sign Crafton’s petition cards. The council also would ask voters to reject the proposed Metro Charter amendment supported by Crafton if a referendum is held this fall.
Nashville might find itself having a few new councilmen if they push against the will of the people. Perhaps their schools would test better if they actually insisted on speaking the language of the land? Do they even teach English anymore? To supposed English speaking natives? Just a thought.
S.F. slaying of dad, sons called gang related
The fatal shootings of a father and two sons in San Francisco’s Excelsior district June 22 were not road-rage killings and instead were motivated by the killer’s belief that his targets were in a rival gang, the head of the police homicide unit said Monday.
“We know it is gang related,” Lt. Mike Stasko told the Board of Supervisors’ Public Safety Committee. Stasko said the victims, Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons, Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, were attacked because of their appearance.
Because of their appearance? They were murdered by an illegal invader, yet this is suppose to make it all better? What kind of manure is this? It sounds like someone is trying to make excuses for their “sanctuary city” policy. The piece of excrement shouldn’t have been in the country at all!
DM Barak in DC Warns of Iranian Influence
In a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Defense Minister Barak warned his American colleague, “Iran’s plan to enhance its strength endangers the stability of the region and of the entire world. We insist that the pace of economic and financial sanctions on the Iranians continue to be increased.” As was made clear by IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi in his meetings with U.S. officials last week, Barak repeated the mantra that “no single option should be taken off the table” when it comes to blocking Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Some in D.C. seem to understand the long reaching threat of Iran. Sadly, many do not, and they are in pretty high positions of power.
Paterson: City Employees Fail To Grasp Budget Trouble
With the city and state bracing for a financial hit from an uncertain economy, Governor Paterson is arguing that the city’s public employees don’t seem to understand the extent of the trouble and the pressure they are putting on the city’s budget.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the state’s Financial Control Board in Manhattan yesterday, Mr. Paterson said public employees are failing to recognize “the need to address these situations earlier and faster.”
(…)
The city’s largest public employee union, DC 37, did not respond to a request for comment.
What a shock. There’s a union involved. Unions have outlived their purpose, and now are doing nothing more than pushing businesses, cities and states down the toilet. It’s past time to dissolve them all!
Judge refuses to reinstate R.I. cleaning contracts
A cleaning company whose workers were caught up in a federal immigration raid has lost it bid to keep more than two dozen state contracts.
The Providence Journal reports Tri-State Enterprises asked a Superior Court judge for a temporary restraining order blocking the administration of Gov. Don Carcieri from canceling the contracts. But Judge Patricia Hurst said she could not order the state to open its doors to workers whose immigration status can’t be verified.
Whoa! A judge actually standing up for the citizens and against companies that break the law? I’m seriously impressed!
No more ‘First 48′, urges district attorney
While Jessie Dotson’s tearful confession to shooting four adults and beating and stabbing five children on Lester Street made a riveting episode for police documentary “The First 48,” it may have also violated Tennessee Supreme Court rules.
The rules state that, among other issues, comments on potential evidence, confessions or results of examinations of upcoming cases are prohibited, Dist. Atty. Gen. Bill Gibbons said in a letter to Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin.
Sometimes, I get the impression that the powers that be are actually EMBARRASSED by the numbers of crimes committed in Memphis, and don’t want the whole world to know about it. Hmmm….
Report: Al Qaeda Operative Killed During Missile Strike in Pakistan
Intelligence officials are investigating reports that Al Qaeda’s top expert on chemical and biological weapons was among six people killed Monday in a missile strike on Pakistan’s tribal areas.
Al Qaeda operative Abu Khabab Al-Masri’s wife told authorities that her husband died in the attack in South Waziristan, according to a Pakistani military intelligence official. The woman was wounded and hospitalized, he said.
U.S. officials told FOX News that al-Masri was a key trainer and expert in chemical and biological weapons, likely to have operational knowledge of a liquid explosive bomb plot thwarted two years ago. He is considered a “top 10″ Al Qaeda target and was part of the original team with Usama Bin Laden who fought against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
One can only hope it’s him, till positive proof is presented. Hey, does the pilot who dropped the bomb get the $5MIL?
Dems Moving to Fund UN Agency That Aids China’s One-Child Policy
“Every time Democrats take back the White House, they continue to fund these population control programs that they euphemistically call ‘family planning,’” Steven Moore, a Wall Street Journal editor and an expert on UNFPA, told CNSNews.com on Monday. “Obama has said he is pro-abortion, and so I think it’s likely that the U.S. will continue its support.”
The Dhimmis LIKE murdering babies. They don’t care if they are US babies, or Chinese babies. The more dead babies, the better. And they call it “choice”.
The company, Macro International Inc., found in an internal investigation that data were deliberately altered between August 2004 and December of that year. The company fired the employee responsible for the cancer registry. State officials said that Macro employees apparently overreported the incidence of cancer to ensure that the database met standards set by a national certification association, which closely monitors registries to ensure that states have a complete count of cases.
The misinformation led researchers to send an estimated 400 women letters beginning in 2005 asking them to participate in a cervical cancer study when they did not have the disease. About 10 of those women called the state Family Health Administration, part of the state’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – one of the first indications that the cancer registry was inaccurate.
What kind of sick SOB would put women through such a thing? The impact of any kind of female type cancer on a woman changes her entire life. I know! That is just beyond demented!
Iraq: Kurds protest against new electoral law
The protest went ahead despite a deadly suicide attack that killed at least 22 people and wounded scores of others at a previous protest held in Kirkuk on Monday.
“The adoption of the provincial elections law was an attempt to impede coexistence among groups of the Iraqi people and the country’s political process,” said Kirkuki, in a speech quoted by VOI.
“The law was a conspiracy against the Kurdish people and is unconstitutional.”
The new legislation is said to create an equal distribution of council seats among Arabs, Turkomen and Kurds, and includes an article delaying local elections indefinitely.
I’m a little confused. How is sharing power equally a “conspiracy”?
Church shooting victims’ conditions upgraded
The conditions of two victims from Sunday’s shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist church have been upgraded, a third remains serious and a fourth is stable.
All four are patients at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, which released the latest conditions this morning.
The patients and their conditions:
–Jack Barnhart, 69, serious.
–Linda Chavez, 41, serious.
–Tammy Sommers, serious.
–Joe Barnhart, 76, stable.
An upgrade is good news. My prayers will continue for all them, and their families.
China defends human rights record
The report accused China of reneging on its promises of greater freedom, with activists jailed, journalists detained and more people sent to labour camps.
But Beijing said people who understood China would not agree with Amnesty.
Foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said: “I hope that Amnesty International can take off the tinted glasses they have been wearing for years and see China in a fair and objective way, and do something more constructive.”
He insisted that there should be no interference in China’s affairs.
Golly gee! Don’t they know that everyone is free in Communist China….to believe and do as they are TOLD.

Pelosi: ‘I’m trying to save the planet’
From Medicare to housing to the new GI Bill, her Democrats have driven the legislative train more than the White House has in recent months. And even when the Democratic Party gave ground to the White House on terrorism surveillance, Pelosi’s credentials were such that Obama felt safer embracing the deal — after she did so first publicly.
The VERY WORST Speaker of the House, in my lifetime!
“I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet,” she says impatiently when questioned. “I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy.”
I don’t suppose that while the Queen Moonbat is “trying to save the planet” she’s going out of her way to destroy the nation?
“I respect the office that I hold,” she says. “And when you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”
Just what has Nanny set as her agenda? Lots of Bush bashing. A complete disregard for the country she is supposedly serving. Playing politics with national security. And money!
She is representing only a very small portion of the 300 million people in this country, and it’s past time for her to GO HOME!
Verse of the Day
Ephesians 4:29-32
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
