Mary Winkler Gets Daughters Back

FOX13 has learned that Mary Winkler has gotten her three daughters back. Winkler picked up her children Friday afternoon. The girls had been living with their paternal grandparents since Winkler killed her husband Matthew in 2006. Now it appears the bitter custody battle is coming to a close.

As soon as Winkler’s criminal trial ended, the custody battle began. But Friday, in an unexpected turn of events, she regained physical custody of her three children.

A source told FOX13 that Winkler picked the girls up Friday afternoon and brought them to her new home in McMinnville, Tennessee. She will soon enroll them in local schools.

“I don’t think anyone will ever understand fully or appreciate how she has felt while being separated from her children, one of which was one year old at the time,” said Rachel Putnam, the attorney handling Winkler’s custody case in a 2007 interview..

Winkler lost custody in 2006 when she was charged with the murder of her preacher husband Matthew Winkler.

Should this woman, who shot her husband in the back, get her kids back?  I guess the judge thought so.  Me?  I’m a tad more skeptical.

This must be a nightmare for the Winklers. First their son is murdered and then the person who murdered him pulls up in their yard and takes their grandchildren. Unbelievable. But you know whats coming next dont you? She’s probably going to marry some crank.

This is about as unjust as it gets! There was never any public proof that Mary Winkler was abused. NONE! Her claims is all that they had. A neighbor did testify that they heard Michael demeaning her. Big deal! That is a reason to pick up a shotgun and shoot them in the back of the head? If so, then I’m loading mine up and talking to a few folks that has said mean things to me. The children will grow up and one day they will come forward, because I truly believe one of them saw this or heard this happen. Mary Winkler will face our Maker, same as we all will, and He will see that this murder is justly punished.

I cannot, for the life of me, imagine the pain the parents felt then, and are feeling now. Those kids have already been through a horrible tragedy, lived with them for a long time, have gotten set in a routine, then BOOM! Upheaval.

If demeaning was a reason to shoot someone, I would have had a few notches on my belt. We move on. We don’t murder ‘em.

I’m not too much on therapy, but I sure hope those young’uns are getting some.
