An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Learning New Things
I read this particular article several times today. I guess I just couldn’t grasp the idea the author was trying to relate. Baptists and Muslims? Well, I suppose it’s possible, IF said Baptist completely forgets that Muslims are pretty much taught to force conversion, lie to non Muslims (kafir), cheat said kafir, use as a slave, or even kill.
Baptists, Muslims must work together for a peaceful world
When Indonesian Muslims were making intimidating phone calls and threatening churches in 1998, Muslim women at an Islamic boarding school guarded the wife of a Baptist pastor when her husband was out of the country advocating for human rights in Washington.
Well, I must admit, they were doing what any decent person would do….protect the innocent. I’ve no doubt there are other Muslims who would do the same thing, but odds are, they aren’t following the Quran, or Haditha to the letter.
Before the initiative of Islamic women, Rembeth recalled, “I had been struggling even to relate to my Muslim friends.”
But they “really gave me an idea (that) there are some good Muslims, even though there are also some bad Muslims, as much as there are some good Christians and bad Christians.”
I’m fairly sure those she’s calling ‘bad’ Muslims are the ones who are following their religion quite strictly. As for those ‘bad’ Christians? Well, they aren’t following Christ’s teachings at all.
A former president of the Southern Baptist Convention said in 2002 that the prophet Muhammad was a “demon-possessed pedophile.”
“I believe the Quran teaches violence. It doesn’t teach peace, it teaches violence,” evangelist Franklin Graham said after the Sept. 11 attacks. “The god of the Christian faith is not the god of Islam.”
Well, those statements stirred up quite a hornets nest! The problem is, they’re true. Mohammed WAS a pedophile, although whether or not he was “demon-possessed”……who knows. And yes, the Quran DOES teach violence, against anyone who isn’t a follower of previously mentioned pedophile. Nor do I see Allah as the same as the God I believe.
“If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace,” the letter warns. “With the terrible weaponry of the modern world; with Muslims and Christians intertwined everywhere as never before, no side can unilaterally win a conflict between more than half of the world’s inhabitants. Thus, our common future is at stake. The very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake.”
Nope. Muslims and Christians are NOT “at peace”. Nor will we ever be. I suppose there could be some who will tolerate the invasion into our Christian based nation of Muslim traditions. I won’t be one of them. Why? I have NO intention of ever bowing 5 times toward Mecca, nor will I wear an oversized potato sack! I believe in God. I believe Jesus came to earth to redeem a sinner like me. I’m not going to change my mind to appease Muslims, or anyone else!
Evidently, the author needs a refresher course on the Bible.
Also, some very interesting reading, from a link left by a commenter:
Hello Dalai–Muslim-ology is Not Islam
I also found this little tidbit rather interesting as well:
“Why Islam” is a public information campaign to bring information about the religion of Islam, the Holy Qur’an, and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) to the American public. The centerpiece of the campaign is a toll-free number (1-877-WHY ISLAM) and a website (whyislam.org) that gives people access to further information about the fastest growing religious affiliation in the United States.
Just why is it the fastest growing ‘religious affiliation’? I have a few suspicions, like perhaps they are counting the prison population that is converting, maybe for the idea of protection? Do people really believe Islam is going to save them from whatever ill they may be facing in their life? I’ve seen no evidence of a peaceful existence in Islam.
On the other hand, I have seen a great deal of peace in REAL Christianity, evidenced by the pure joy of church members. I dunno…which would YOU prefer?
Obviously, I’m no Islamic scholar, nor am I a Biblical scholar, but I do know right from wrong.

well, Mohammed was either insane or demon possessed. For sure, normal, wasn’t part of his being.
@cristina:
If such a person was ‘worshipped’ in the Christian world, there would be attacks from all over the place. Since we find such behavior disgusting, we “don’t understand”. Pfft! Oh, we understand alright. Well, a LOT of us do at any rate. Evidently there are some who ignore it, or gloss over it.
