An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
An unidentified Tennessee resident contacted the office of Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey with concerns about the way an employment discrimination complaint had been handled. The case had been assigned to Madu, who found it to be without merit.
The citizen requested a copy of the case file and discovered that witnesses the file indicated had been interviewed by Madu and had not supported the complaint had in fact never been interviewed, according to the comptroller’s report.
After a deeper look at the case, the comptroller’s investigative staff found that five of the six witnesses listed in the case file had in fact never been contacted by Madu. The sixth witness could not be reached.
Madu denied the comptroller’s findings. Comptroller’s office investigators then examined Madu’s office call logs. Madu was again confronted, and on Aug. 7, 2007, admitted he had not made the calls in question and had manufactured interview notes.
Stuff like this really chaps my hide! You’re being paid by the taxpayers, to do a job, and whether out of pure laziness or total incompetence, you’re incapable of doing that job. Is it any wonder that no one trusts anyone having anything to do with the government…on ANY level? Just think, if he hadn’t got caught, he could be in Congress at some point in the future.
Michelle Obama told military wives faced with their husbands’ multiple tours of duty, low military pay and health care concerns that help is on its way Wednesday, as the Democratic presidential candidate deployed his wife to court military families considered vital to flipping this historically Republican state.
“Few sacrifice more to serve their country than you, and I know that too often it seems like you’re doing it on your own,” Mrs. Obama told participants in a roundtable discussion at Old Dominion University.
Stay-at-home mom Beth Robinson, 33, wife of a Marine Corps officer, emphasized that health care, housing and pay should be “not negotiable” when it comes to the government’s responsibility to take care of service members.
Honestly, I’m surprised any self respecting military wife would listen to someone like Michelle “for the first time in my life I’m proud” Obama. These women have sacrificed much for their country in support of their husbands and along comes this woman who has only recently found a reason to take pride in her nation because her husband is running for POTUS?
Britain has backed down from a previous stand that it is important to keep up communication with Jewish Israeli citizens in Judea and Samaria (Yesha), and it has blacklisted them from events at the embassy. Three Israeli citizens from areas beyond the 1949-1967 border recently were invited to attend an embassy birthday party at the ambassador’s house in honor of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth.
Senior Palestinian Authority (PA) negotiator Saeb Erekat protested, saying that “the settlements are illegal and the European policy has not changed. To invite the [representatives of] settlements to parties–I think the British government should answer this question.”
Britain (can’t call it Great anymore) is bowing to the terrorists…..again. Will the Queen show up for her party with her head covered? Better yet, how ’bout a burka?
Musharraf dominated Pakistan for eight years and became a close U.S. ally after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, but ceded control of the powerful army last year and has been largely sidelined since the coalition parties trounced his allies in February parliamentary elections.
Ruling party chief Asif Ali Zardari declared the decision Thursday was “good news for democracy” in Pakistan. Announcing a joint statement alongside his coalition partners after two days of talks, he said it was “imperative” for them to move for Musharraf’s impeachment.
Policies pursued by Musharraf during his eight years in power “have brought Pakistan to a critical economic impasse,” said Zardari, the widowed husband of former premier Benazir Bhutto who took charge of her party following her assassination in December.
“His policies have weakened the federation and eroded the trust of the nation in national institutions,” Zardari added.
I’ve never considered Pakistan an ‘ally’. IMHO, I think they’ve done a great deal to undermine efforts in Afghanistan with that open border policy they seem to have. I’m wondering how much worse things will get now?
In the eight summer Olympic Games in which the kingdom has participated since 1972, it has sent a total of 166 men, and no women.
Several smaller Islamic nations have a similar record, but Saudi Arabia, as the biggest of those resisting change and a country that claims special status as the birthplace of Islam, draws the most attention.
Saudi Arabia also has a representative – a member of the royal family – on the 110-member International Olympic Committee (IOC), the governing body whose charter forbids “any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, sex or otherwise.”
Well, I’d say that someone is full of ka ka, wouldn’t you? The OIC allows countries to discriminate, because, well, they DO discriminate at home, so, why not? I’m not of the feminazi mind set. Matter of fact, you could say I was a sexist. There are men, and there are women, and we are totally different. Somehow, seeing men be as graceful as women on the gymnastics floor? I’d wonder at his orientation. The Saudis would like us to believe they are an open nation, that has made tremendous strides into the 21st century. Their treatment of women speaks loudly from the 7th century.
The preliminary hearing for a man accused of raping, assaulting and robbing a 75-year-old Jackson woman is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today.
Joe Marvin Ellison, 37, of Jackson, is being held on a $150,000 bond and a parole hold after being charged with aggravated rape, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
What kind of low life scum rapes a 75 year old woman!
Such contests prepare grounds for more understanding between various cultures and thoughts in Islamic countries, said the Supreme Leader.
The enemies of the Islamic countries try to sow seeds of discords among Muslims to bring them to their knees, warned the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei advised the participants to convey the Iranian nation’s message of friendship to their people.
Uh, would that be before, or after, the threat of violence?
District Court Judge Ronald Giles ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to jail on Thursday for violating the terms of his bond, a decision the judge said he would have made for any “John Six-Pack” defendant before him.
The mayor made an unauthorized trip to Canada last month, leading the county prosecutor’s office to request Kilpatrick be punished and triggering the judge’s ruling.
Only minutes earlier, the mayor offered an apology to the court, telling Giles that for seven months, “I’ve been living in an incredible state of pressure and scrutiny.”
But Giles sent the mayor to jail anyway, telling him he would have given any defendant the same treatment.
Just one more example of political arrogance. If this man had any self respect, or any concern for the city he was supposedly serving, he would have resigned a LONG time ago.
“We resolutely oppose any words or actions which interfere in the internal affairs of another country in the name of issues such as human rights and religion,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Thursday in a statement on its website that was translated by the Associated Press.
The statement was published hours after Bush criticized China’s approach to freedom and rights of citizens in a speech in Thailand during a three-country tour of Asia before heading to China for Friday’s Olympic opening ceremonies.
“America stands in firm opposition to China’s detention of political dissidents, and human rights advocates and religious activists,” Bush said in Bangkok early Thursday.
“We press for openness and justice not to impose our beliefs, but to allow the Chinese people to express theirs.”
I gotta back Bush on this one. We’re importing all kinds garbage from China, pretty much supporting their economy while ours slides into the tank, and they can’t take a little criticism on the way they treat their people? Hmmm…. Why can’t we stop importing their junk until they start behaving like civilized people?
TheNextCheney.com examines the records of McCain’s suspected short list: Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota; Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida; former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts; Sen. John Thune of South Dakota; Carly Fiorina, the former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard; U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia; and Smith, founder and chief executive of FedEx in Memphis.
Smith and his wife, Diane, attended a July 4 barbecue at McCain’s Arizona ranch amid speculation that it was a rehearsal for the vice presidential nod.
I really….REALLY hope McFeingold will pick someone we can get behind, cuz if he doesn’t, it’s just going to be a matter of voting AGAINST B. Hussein, and not voting FOR him. With a strong conservative Veep, I’m pretty sure there will be a lot more momentum coming out of the base. From this absurd website, I’d say that the Dhimmis are starting to get desperate. Perhaps they are finally realizing they’ve been backing an empty suit? Pfft! The country would be better off if they did, but for any Dhimmi to admit a mistake would be like giving my cat a pill.
