Losing On Merit Alone!

23 August 2008, 10:02 pm. 8 Comments. Filed under 2008, Moonbats & Other Animals, Opinion.

I have read this column, over and over, all through the day, and I can’t think of appropriate words to express the disgust I feel for this…..’progressive’.

If Obama Loses
Racism is the only reason McCain might beat him.

And that’s just the title? Let’s pick out a few sentences, shall we?

Yet Barack Obama, with every natural and structural advantage in the presidential race, is running only neck-and-neck against John McCain, a sub-par Republican nominee with a list of liabilities longer than a Joe Biden monologue.

True, McCain IS sub-par, in any true conservative’s book, however, he can at least string two words together in a coherent thought. B. Hussein can not, and people are starting to notice.

But let’s be honest: If you break the numbers down, the reason Obama isn’t ahead right now is that he trails badly among one group, older white voters. He does so for a simple reason: the color of his skin.

Making excuses now, are we? While I will grant you, there are going to people who wouldn’t vote for a black man, of any particular party, that is NOT the case here. I know many….MANY white folks, older and younger, who would vote for the RIGHT candidate, no matter what the skin color. Making such a statement is….WELL RACIST!

Such prejudice usually comes coded in distortions about Obama and his background.

So many rumors fly during a political campaign. This is nothing new. What this….gentleman doesn’t seem to understand, we ARE a lot smarter than he gives us credit for in his ‘opinion’. Most of the rumors about B. Hussein have been dispelled, and are no longer truly the issue.

We would finally be able to see our legacy of slavery, segregation, and racism in the rearview mirror. Our kids would grow up thinking of prejudice as a nonfactor in their lives.

Not true. People like this guy will make sure it’s brought up at every turn, just to keep it right there up front. Who REALLY has a problem with race?

And, the finale.

You may or may not agree with Obama’s policy prescriptions, but they are, by and large, serious attempts to deal with the biggest issues we face: a failing health care system, oil dependency, income stagnation, and climate change. To the rest of the world, a rejection of the promise he represents wouldn’t just be an odd choice by the United States. It would be taken for what it would be: sign and symptom of a nation’s historical decline.

Why is it that these so called ‘progressives’, aka moonbats, never see America as the great nation it is? Do they question the ‘decline’ in health care? HMOs come to mind. Oil dependency? You can thank the ridiculous regulations created by environmental whackos aided by the Democrats, and not a few Republicans as well. Climate change? They’re called seasons, and they change. Then there are the big changes that happen every few hundred years or so.

He forgot to mention education? Let’s dumb down our kids…don’t DEMAND they do their best. Oh, that’s right. Those of his ilk have already pretty much destroyed that, with their socialist unions.

Reject Sen. B. Hussein’s promise? Damn skippy! I prefer freedom! Freedom that was founded on Judeo/Christian values, NOT Karl Marx.

As for the ‘rest of the world’? They are damn lucky WE exist!

Let Them Raid!

Feds plan more raids on fugitive migrants

Federal authorities say they will step up raids on illegal immigrants’ homes after only eight immigrants, including one in Phoenix, stepped forward to take an offer of planned deportation.

The lack of participation in Operation Scheduled Departure, a pilot program, showed that the only way to solve the problem of immigrants staying in the U.S. after being ordered to leave is through enforcement, Jim Hayes of Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a conference call Friday with reporters.

The 3-week-old program in five cities is being canceled. The only immigrant who stepped forward for voluntary deportation in Phoenix was from Estonia.

Estonia? Just how much taxpayer money was spent on this little ‘experiment’ of the feckless gubmint? The lack of common sense even trying to implement such a stupid plan speaks a great deal to just how little understanding they have of the problem. That problem being? The complete and utter lack of respect these…..people…..have for our laws!

Over the past two years, fugitive-operation teams in Phoenix and other U.S. cities have nabbed tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants, most at their homes but also at job sites. The teams work daily to identify, locate and arrest immigrants who have previously been ordered to leave the U.S. but remained.

The majority are immigrants who applied for legal residency but were denied. Others were ordered deported after committing crimes. The teams have arrested 29,000 fugitive immigrants this fiscal year and are on pace to surpass the 30,000 arrested last year, Hayes said.

A veritable drop in the bucket. If they are arresting them, that would mean they were, well….arrested, right?

Immigrant advocates have criticized the operations, saying they break up families and terrorize immigrant communities. In response, the government launched the experimental scheduled-departure program on Aug. 5. It gave non-criminal fugitives the chance to turn themselves in and arrange for their departure within 90 days. In exchange, participants would not have to worry about agents unexpectedly showing up at the crack of dawn and removing them without a chance to settle their affairs.

To borrow a line from Jo Dee Messina….. “My give a damn is busted!”

Advocates for immigrants said Operation Scheduled Departure was merely a ruse intended to give the government justification for continuing its sweeps.

“They knew this project was going to be a failure. They needed an excuse to justify what they have been doing,” said Elias Bermudez, founder of the Phoenix-based advocacy group Immigrants Without Borders.

Language Warning: NO, you low life, scum sucking, son of a bitch! They DON’T need an excuse! They’ve got something called THE LAW!

Bermudez predicted that the government will now intensify fugitive operations and that more non-fugitive illegal immigrants will get caught in the dragnets.

“We are telling people not to answer their doors (if ICE officers arrive looking for fugitives),” Bermudez said.

As far as I’m concerned, YOU should be arrested too! What you’re doing is advocating for breaking the law! I’m fairly sure aiding and abetting criminal activity is still against the law!

“Many of these immigrants have lived in this country for years,” Schwartz said. “It takes more than (90 days) to sell their house, close their bank accounts, take care of their finances and take their children out of school.”

Then I would suggest they get started…..NOW!

We Need a Fence!

23 August 2008, 6:30 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Critters.

As I have mentioned before, I really LOVE living out in the middle of Podunk, TN.  This is a great area, with mostly terrific folks.  Who are NOT ‘terrific folks’?  I’d say those people who don’t give a flying flip about their pets.  You KNOW they are someone’s pet because they have collars on ‘em.

Case in point – Hispanic Rat Dog!

See?  Collar.  And no, I did NOT put out food for this semi rat canine.  He just happened to show up while I was out there pulling weeds.  I will admit, I do leave a bit out for the cats (and possums) that come around, but dogs?  I don’t think so!

You see, I’m of the mind…if you have a dog, and you live near a highway…you FENCE that dog.  I’ve seen way too many squished dogs around here, and it seriously chaps my hide!

Now, I do not want a fence so we can get a dog.  I want an appropriate type fence to keep Mr Hispanic Rat Dog, and his friends……OUT!  Hmm…..perhaps with a little razor wire, a land mind or two, or some such to discourage that peacock invader too?

I like this kind of visitor MUCH better:

I got the impression this guy was doing some kind of mating dance, but I had to turn him down.  Not really my type.  It was kind of cool to watch though.

Gaddafi’s Likely Heir Announces Timeout

Fresh from prodding Libya into ending a quarter-century of hostility toward the United States, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi’s most influential son, announced this week that he planned to “disappear” from public life for a time.

Saif Gaddafi, the man seen as his father’s most likely successor, has been a leading force behind the scenes in Libya’s reopening to the West.

Heading to ‘training camp’?

THP inquiry could bring surprise visits

Twenty plainclothes Highway Patrol detectives will be fanning out in pairs across the state to make contact with and interview those whose information was violated by Shirley, who will be on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

In many cases detectives will try to go to a person’s house without a phone call, but some may call ahead, according to patrol spokesman Mike Browning.

He’s on PAID leave? PAID? This piece of work violated his authority, and public trust, so they’re going to give him a paid vacation? Is it just me, or is that a bit…..WRONG!?

Bush blames Democrats for high gas prices

“To reduce pressure on prices, we need to increase the supply of oil, especially oil produced here at home,” Bush said in his weekly radio address.

Congress left for the August recess without a solution to fuel prices. In a bid to force a vote on offshore drilling, Republicans blocked Democratic proposals to use the nation’s petroleum reserve, curb oil speculation and require oil companies to drill on already leased federal lands.

If Johnny has one apple, he can sell that apple to the highest bidder. If Johnny has 40,000,000 apples, he must adjust the price accordingly. Johnny must also ensure there are plenty of apples in storage, just in case of an apple pie emergency, right? Simple. DRILL HERE! DRILL NOW! And leave the dadburn reserve alone. Criminy, were these people born last night? I thought they were supposedly educated people. And while we’re at it…..GIT YER SORRY ASSES BACK TO WORK!

Washington ‘very concerned’ over Russian plans to sell arms to Syria

“We are obviously very concerned about reports that Russia may be providing weapons, weapons systems to Syria,” said spokesman Robert Wood.

“We have always said to the Russians that these sales should not go forward, they don’t contribute to regional stability and, again, I urge them not to go through with these sales if there is an intent to go through with them,” he told reporters.

Syrian President Bashar Assad won promises of fresh weapons sales during a visit to Russia this week.

Does anyone else get the impression that Russia is building a great big bonfire, and is adding fuel, daily?

City stymied by sexually-oriented businesses’ new tactics

“It’s not like stopping somebody for speeding,” said Patrick Zummo, an outside attorney the city has hired to help enforce its ordinance. “You have to do a lot of groundwork before you can proceed. It’s frustrating that a lot of people seem to think this is all a fun-and-game business and the city is out there trying to shut down bachelor parties.

“We’re talking about drugs and violent crime, all next to a residential neighborhood.”

If they have laws in place preventing such establishments so close to residential areas, I honestly don’t understand the problem. Are there so many loopholes, they can’t figure out how to just say NO to all of these types of places? sigh… A once, fairly nice city, has turned into the Sodom and Gomorrah of the south.

Officials seek stolen guns

Authorities in Sevier County, with cooperation from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, are intensely searching for several powerful weapons that were stolen earlier this week from the car of a Pigeon Forge detective.

The weapons include a .45-caliber Glock sidearm with night sights and a fully automatic .223-caliber M16 rifle capable of firing as many as 800 rounds per minute.
(…)
Also taken in the auto
in were a .308-caliber Remington rifle and a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, plus three suppressors that Pigeon Forge Police Chief Jack Baldwin said were designed to lessen both muzzle flash and noise.

He added that three body armor vests with varying levels of protection also were taken.

Was this detective expecting a massive riot at Dollywood? Criminy!

Mexican police raid casino, grab suspected hit man

Mexico’s federal Public Security Department says agents arrested a man believed to be Ruben Rios Estrada at the Caliente racetrack casino in Tijuana. It says Rios is a key gunman for the Arellano-Felix cocaine cartel. Another suspected gang member also was arrested.

Mexican media report that casino officials complained that the raid endangered some 1,300 customers, who were ordered to the floor.

The agency says the army and federal attorney general’s joined Friday’s arrests and that the suspects have been flown to Mexico City.

You know you are out manned, and out gunned, if it takes the cops, the army AND attorneys to arrest one guy.

Tropical Storm Fay Makes Fourth Florida Landfall

Fay was expected to skirt across the Panhandle’s coast Saturday and the coast of Mississippi and Alabama on Sunday, forecasters said.

Though Fay never materialized into a hurricane, its zigzagging downpours have been punishing and deadly.

At least six people in Florida were dead from the storm, state officials said, and two more deaths reported Friday were believed to be Fay-related. The state attributed an additional death, before the storm hit, to hurricane preparedness after a man testing generators died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Prayers with those families. I have to ask though….did the man who died testing the generators open a window? Not being snarky here, for a change. I know the folks in Florida are ready for Fay to go away, but we’re happy, right here in Podunk, to get some of the cast off rain.

Oakland officials welcome probe at City Hall

City Auditor Courtney Ruby said the federal investigation seems to be expanding on an audit commissioned by her office last year that uncovered questionable payroll practices, including $3 million in bonuses, leaves and other perks that were awarded by Edgerly and other managers with little council or mayoral oversight.

“The more people looking at this, the better,” Ruby said. “What I saw in my audit was serious potential for abuse of power, benefits given without policies and procedures in place.”

And da gubmint’s wonder why the common folk don’t trust ‘em. Pfft!

We will not be the next on Russia’s hitlist, vows defiant Ukraine

“It is the first time in Europe since the Cold War that a foreign army has entered the territory of a sovereign state without any internationally accepted legal basis,” he said.

“If we were to be ambivalent about this it would give tacit approval to put our country and our citizens under threat.”

The President — one of the figureheads of the Orange Revolution that toppled Moscow’s favoured candidate for the leadership of Ukraine — was careful not to criticise Vladimir Putin, the Russian Prime Minister, directly.

Caution is one thing, ignoring the one pulling the strings? Is he afraid Putin might get angry at him, and they won’t ever be buds…just in case Russia manages to recreate the Soviet Union? And seriously, just what has NATO, or the Useless Numnuts been doing while the Bear is clawing it’s way back into the big time?

‘Prepared’ Secret Service, police have new equipment if needed

Mayor John Hickenlooper said the city and its partners developed what may be one of the most comprehensive security plans for an event of this magnitude.

“You never know what you don’t know, but we have spent more time planning and training than I think any city in history for a national convention,” he said.

“You never know what you don’t know…….”……………. Uh…yeah….that’s usually the case.

Verse of the Day

23 August 2008, 8:59 am. Comments Off. Filed under Faith.

Psalm 86:1-10

1 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.

4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

6 Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.

9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.

10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
