An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings
Granny Sarah
Palin’s 17-Year-Old Daughter is Pregnant
Sarah and Todd Palin say their 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant.The couple said in a statement released by John McCain’s presidential campaign that Bristol will keep her baby.
Sarah Palin is McCain’s vice presidential running mate.
The Alaska governor says Bristol intends to marry the father of her child.
She and the campaign also are asking that the media respect the family’s privacy
I can see it now….the lefties will be ALL over this one. Talking about how we are suppose to be the ‘moral’ ones, and all that. Well, guess what! Teenage girls do stupid things, and they get pregnant. We KNOW this already. How they handle it defines their character. Obviously, this young lady is going to have a baby. You know, one of those tiny little critters that changes your life forever. She’s going to HAVE it, not KILL it! The young man also did a foolish thing, but he is going to stand up and be a man. He’s going to actually MARRY the young lady. He’s not going to walk away from his responsibility. And THAT is where the character comes in!
As one of those young grandmother’s, I can tell you from first hand experience, we can wish our daughters would learn responsibility, and wait until they are ready. Well, that doesn’t happen. I became a grandmother at the age of 38. sigh…. Thanks Brat!
I will not condone the two young folks’ actions. I WILL commend them for the content of their character by bringing a new life into the world, one of God’s creations, a blessing to all those who will be part of his, or her, life.
Congratulations to the Palin family on the empending birth!

It will be interesting to see if the press backs off.
Remember what Obama would do rather than “saddle” his daughters with a baby…
@Cindy:
Oh yeah….B. Hussein would rather murder his own grandchild than have a beautiful baby brought into the world. pfft! The man makes me sick!
[...] Ol Broad: Congrats Granny! [...]
I heard of she was pregnant. Thought it was just a rumor. I am not going to feed the media so I have not posted it on my site.
The key here is the taking of responsibility and not killing the child to avoid Barack “Born Alive, Let Them Die” Obama’s notion of being “punished with a bay-buh!”
@Big Mark:
I hate the idea that a young girl doesn’t have the chance to get to be a teenager, but I think she is doing the right thing. If I had gotten preggers at 17, I would have been a much younger mom than I ended up (21).
@Sam Pierce:
I’ve never understood that term “punished with a baby”. How is a baby punishment? I mean other than the obvious, if you’ve been wakened from a sound sleep from a screech that would peel paint off a wall?
A baby isn’t punishment. It’s a reality, a consequence of an action. Accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t punishment, it’s called being a grown up. Jiminy crickets!
Good thing the Palin’s aren’t Dem/Libbers, we’d be hearing *Late term abortion for Palin family* if they were…
@TexasFred:
Whoa….what a horrible thought. But yer right….as usual. They’d be slapping that down our throats, all the while supporting such an action.
Your teenage girls do stupid things.
“Liberal” teenage girls use birth control.
@kallie:
That’s probably one of the more ignorant things I’ve read all day.
This really should be a non issue as far as the campaign goes.
And I thought this was a classy response from Obama. A I allowed to post classy things about Obama here? LOL http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/obama.palin/index.html
@Sean:
LOL Since they are few and far between, absolutely. And besides, you’re one of my favorite almost libs.
Seriously, you’re right. It has nothing to do with this campaign. Although, it does say a lot about the culture of life, instead of death.
[...] Ol Broad: Congrats Granny! [...]
@ Kallie:
Like abortion? Seems to be the favorite form of birth control for the left – no matter at what stage of the pregnancy.
If Bristol is five-months pregnant, why isn’t she two-months married?Did the marriage proposal quickly follow the VP offer?Just curious!p.b.
@Parson Born:
Well sir, I don’t rightly know. It’s a family matter, and that’s where it should stay….within their family.
I wonder if the reaction would be the same if it were one of Obama’s daughters? Highly doubt it the right would be all over them like a cheap suit.
So much for moral’s. Do as I say, not as I do. Besides, it is my firm belief that getting knocked up before marriage is wrong. Her mother should have told her to keep her legs together.
@Debbie:
Moms can tell their daughter “keep your legs together” till they are blue in the face. Doesn’t always work, as I can testify.
Reality check 101! Teens don’t always listen to their parents!
And if one of B. Hussein’s daughters showed up pregnant, I’d say there would be some serious charges pending against the “daddy”. And yeah, that would be BIG news.
Why is Bristol Palin being pregnant big news! It has nothing to do with who her mother is or how she would be a good or bad vice presidential canadate. Teenage girls don’t always listen to their parents even when brought up in a good home with good moral/values. I am living proof of that. Children are not punishments, they are a gift, and sometimes that gift makes you grow up a little faster than plannd, but at the end of the day, even on the bad days that child is the number one thing that keeps most young parents going. Yes Bristol is pregnant, but what about those other YOUNG parents out there? You dont see them making the news. I don’t see how her being pregnant and getting married to please the US population is any of our concern. I didn’t see the media being alerted when I had my son at 21 or when my classmates in high school at age 16-19 got pregnant.
@KAT:
I have no earthly idea. The press didn’t show up at my doorstep when my daughter announced she was pregnant at 16 either.
