Protesters, police clash outside RNC
Some protesters were responsible for slashing tires on police cars, smashing windows on downtown buildings and assaulting police officers, officials said. Protesters also threw what one official described as a “noxious fluid” on members of the Connecticut convention delegation.
Smashing windows of private businesses, destroying property…yep, showing all the class and maturity they usually do.
Media Uses Palin Pregnancy to Dismiss Abstinence Education
Media personalities, including Diane Sawyer of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” are using the announcement by presumptive Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant to question the validity of abstinence-only education programs.
What these talking heads fail to mention is that abstinence only is the ONLY sure fire way to prevent unwanted pregnancies and STDs. As my mom always told me, aspirin works best! Ya stick the aspirin between your knees, and hold on to it for dear life!
Removal hearing set to begin for Detroit mayor
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has failed to stop Gov. Jennifer Granholm from moving ahead with an extraordinary public hearing that could cost him his job in a scandal over steamy text messages and millions of tax dollars.
Kilpatrick’s lawyers struck out with pleas to a Wayne County judge and the Michigan Court of Appeals, clearing the way for Granholm to begin hearing evidence Wednesday about the mayor’s role in a $8.4 million settlement with fired police officers who sued the city.
Why doesn’t this weasel just resign? Is his ego so large, that he cares so little for his city, he would rather put them, and the state, through the expense and embarrassment of having to forcibly remove him?
GOP hails McCain, assails Obama
The convention hall resounded with boos when Lieberman said the Democratic presidential candidate voted to cut off funding “for our troops on the ground” in Iraq last year.
And again when former Sen. Fred Thompson scoffed at the 47-year-old senator from Illinois, who is seeking to become the first black president.
“Democrats present a history-making nominee for president. History-making in that he is the most liberal, most inexperienced nominee ever to run for president,” Thompson said as delegates roared their agreement.
Damn skippy! And the sooner the yahoos on the left realize that a B. Hussein presidency will hurt them too, the better!
India: More churches and homes burnt in strife-torn Orissa
India’s strife-torn state of Orissa was the target of more sectarian violence on Tuesday with reports that more Christian churches and homes had been destroyed.
Official sources said at least half a dozen churches were set ablaze in villages in the districts of Tikabali and Raikia.
According to the Indian daily, The Asian Age, mobs set two churches on fire in Tikabali, and four Christian churches were burned down in Katinga and Raikia.
“Asian mob” = Muslim thugs
Pakistani PM Yousaf Raza Gilani survives assassination attempt
Shots were fired at Gilani’s car in the capital, Islamabad, but he was not in the vehicle, which was on its way to the airport to collect him.
The prime minister’s press secretary, Zahid Bashir, said unknown assailants fired “multiple sniper shots” in a “murder attempt”.
Two bullets hit the front window on the driver’s side of the black Mercedes limousine.
“The driver reached Islamabad airport, but the prime minister and his staff were not travelling in the vehicles,” the interior minister, Kamal Shah, said.
I guess it’s not hard to figure out just who fired the shots. I’d say anyone who wants Pakistan to be a Taliban/al Qaeda type country.
Iraq: New oil field to deliver 55 billion dollars over 20 years
The Iraqi cabinet expects to generate 55 billion dollars over 20 years from the al-Ahdab oil field after endorsing a development deal with China on Tuesday.
An Iraqi government spokesman told the news agency Voices of Iraq on Wednesday that revenues will total 55 billion dollars or 87 percent of total revenues of 63 billion dollars.
Iraq approved a 3 billion dollar deal with China to develop the al-Ahdab oil field in Wasit province south-east of Baghdad. Discovered in 1979, the oil field is expected to have reserves of 225 million barrels.
Uh….I beg your pardon? China??? That’s it! They can all fry as far as I’m concerned. We save their sorry asses from a murderous thug, and this is how they repays us? Giving China development rights? Time for them to start paying back the American taxpayers, in cold hard cash! Too many lives have been lost in pursuit of their freedom, and I for one, am pissed!
Girl’s first day of school never came
Nequiel Fowler was so excited to start 4th grade on Tuesday that she already had her backpack organized, a new outfit picked out and her hair braided with white beads.
But first she enjoyed the last afternoon of summer, playing down the block from her home with friends and the blind little sister who was her constant companion. When Nequiel bent down to tie her sister Valerie’s shoe, shots rang out and “Nee-Nee” slumped to the ground with a stray bullet in her left side.
Valerie, unaware of what had happened, clung bewildered to a house gate, reaching for her sister and calling her name, neighbors said.
“I’m not glad my daughter is blind, but I’m glad she didn’t see it,” Nequiel’s mother, Linda Williams, said of the fatal Labor Day shooting. “Valerie asked me, ‘Is Nee-Nee dead? Is she gone?’ “
No parent should ever have to go through this kind of pain. No little sisters should be without their mentor. No child should have to fear for their life. No community should put up with this kind of lunacy! Someone knows something, and if they care about their children, they damn sure better start speaking up!
Up to 15 Years Demanded for Piranha Terrorist Suspects
The lower court judges considered it proven that Azzouz, a 22 year old Moroccan born in Amsterdam, had advanced plans for attacks on politicians and the building of the AIVD secret service, and gave him 8 years. Fellow-suspects El Fatmi, Chentouf and Salah were also found guilty of preparing terrorist attacks and got 4, 4 and 3 years.
Evidence consisted among other things of a video testament in which Azzouz said goodbye to family and friends in October 2005, with an eye to his impending ‘martyr’s death.’ He wanted to “hit Dutch democracy in the heart and arouse fear in the Dutch population by committing attacks which could cost the lives of countless people,” according to the lower court. The OM says the group wanted to assassinate both leftwing and rightwing politicians including Prime Minister Balkenende and MPs Geert Wilders and Jan Marijnissen.
The Dutch might want to reconsider being so ‘tolerant’ of such ….um….people. They are trying to destroy The Netherlands from within, and we’ll be seeing such in the not too distant future, if we don’t put a stop to some of our ‘tolerant’ immigration policies.
McCain ad: Palin more qualified than Obama
The campaign announced: “The McCain campaign will launch a television ad directly comparing Gov. Palin’s executive experience as a governor who oversees 24,000 state employees, 14 statewide cabinet agencies and a $ 10 billion budget to Barack Obama’s experience as a one-term junior senator from Illinois.”
The ad is what the campaign calls “a forward-leaning effort to counter the shameless smears that have prevailed during Gov. Palin’s introduction to the American voter.”
When the MSM spouts a far left wing loon’s ugly gossip as fact, we have a serious problem. The problem is that a lot of people assume since it’s the ‘news’, it must be true. Well, you know what they same about assuming….. And they sure are making asses of the American people.
Conservatives stick by Sarah Palin despite teen’s pregnancy
Like many local Republicans, Bowen says he supports Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as Sen. John McCain’s running mate, despite news that Palin’s teenage daughter is pregnant. Palin’s selection was intended, in part, to shore up support among religious conservatives like Bowen. So far, it looks like that support is holding.
Instead of alienating conservative supporters of McCain, the Palin crisis is causing Republicans to rally around the vice presidential candidate in the name of family values.
I just don’t get it! Why are the MSM and moonbat brigade (but I repeat myself) so surprised that we, as conservatives, are still supportive of Gov Palin? Should we be all up in arms because they aren’t the perfect family? Criminy. Show me one family that is! We still support her BECAUSE they aren’t perfect, and are dealing with an issue many of us, our here in flyover country, have had to deal with for years. Family values? Yes, this young lady’s predicament is one of our family values….give life, instead of murdering a baby.

OK, “Two-Penny Jenny” Granholm is off the hook . . . but only temporarily!
@SJ Cottrell:
Since the guy refuses to resign, I’d say she’ll be involved…..eventually. Well, as best as I can figure.
