Big Monday Adventure

For the first time, in what seems like a very long time, I ventured out, with the Mr in tow. The only time I have gone anywhere is to the doctor, the phamacy, and to get a hair whack….all in the same day. But that was a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I’ve been fairly house bound. With the Mr up in Wisconsin, I just didn’t feel it safe to wander out on my own, being all decrepit and such.

First stop……..LUNCH! What better place to go in Savannah, TN than Sweet Surrender! Sometimes, it’s easy to drive right by the place. It’s not very big, but lemme tell ya…if you are in the area weekdays around lunchtime, it is WELL worth the effort! Need directions? Just ask me!

I happened to have on my “Don’t make me blog you!” t-shirt, which got a couple of odd looks. The waitress wanted to know what a blog was, and when I tried to explain it, she said, “Oh, you mean like on the internet.” Right. Then there was a guy with his wife. He was staring at my shirt, and I just automatically said, “Internet.” He looked at me like I was nuts, and said “I KNOW what a blog is!” Well, ok, so why were you staring at my shirt? At least I’m guessing it was my shirt. Hmm…. I’m also guessing he was the yahoo who was taking up two parking places out front so we had to park around the back. Pfft!

After an excellent lunch, with desert brought home for later reference, it was off to Wally World! Oh, yippee!

Not having one of those handicap dodads hanging on my rear view mirror, I found a spot fairly close, so walking wouldn’t be a major problem. I waddled my way in, tap tapping with the cane (it’s making that sound…..honestly), I asked the elderly lady greeter if I can use one of those electric cart do-hickies. Not a problem, they had one all charged up. KEWL!

This was my first adventure with one of those things. I gotta tell ya….it was FUN! It took a few minutes to get use to, then I was off! And NO, I did NOT run into anyone. Well, except for the Mr, and only once! I’d rather not make it a habit, but hey, when walking is so painful, and ya get tuckered out from it in short order, ya do what ya gotta do, right? I especially got a kick out of the ‘back up’ beeping. Heh.

I tell ya, if the Mr hadn’t been with me, I could have managed to buy a whole lot more stuff, most of which, we don’t need. We got the essentials, TP, paper towels, paper plates, sodas, chips. You know, the kind of stuff you can buy in bulk at Wal-Mart. Ok, granted, we don’t need the popcorn balls, but hey, they were there, I was there….it was a match! I haven’t had one of those things since they forced people to stop handing the homemade type out at Halloween. They’re ok, but the homemades are MUCH better. A LOT more fattening too. Heh.

So, we got out of there a great deal faster than we would have it I had ventured out on my own. With the electric cart, I would have had to make 3 or 4 trips to get at least twice as much junk we don’t need. Good thing he was with me! Saved money too!
