Bush Called For Reform of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac 17 Times in 2008 Alone… Dems Ignored Warnings
For many years the President and his Administration have not only warned of the systemic consequences of financial turmoil at a housing government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) but also put forward thoughtful plans to reduce the risk that either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac would encounter such difficulties. President Bush publicly called for GSE reform 17 times in 2008 alone before Congress acted.
Unfortunately, these warnings went unheeded, as the President’s repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities were thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems.
The White House released this list of attempts by President Bush to reform Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac since he took office in 2001.

I haven’t been a big fan of Bush for a while now, but this blaming every single thing that goes wrong on him, instead of behaving like grownups, and accepting responsibility for their own actions….or lack there of, is beyond juvenile!
When the Dems took control of the Congress, I remember, just like everyone else, Pelosi talking about being the ‘most ethical Congress ever’. Well, even though the Republicans will have to take their share of the blame for the mess we’re in, if Pelosi and Reid had an ounce of intergrity, they both would have worked with the president to resolve the issues. What did they do instead? How did they spend a good chunk of their time, and their taxpayer salaries?

I’m from Dallas. My dad had me either listening to the Cowboys on the radio, or watching ‘em on the idjit box when they started televising games…..in black and white, from their conception. Yeah, I’m THAT old!
The Mr is a native Wisconsinite. He’s not real big into football, which is ok. But even he wants to keep up with this game.

Christian Groups to Host Ahmadinejad and UN Head for NY Dinner
The president of the United Nations General Assembly, Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, will be attending a dinner in New York at which Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a featured guest, according to The Forward, a Jewish-American weekly newspaper published in New York City. Brockmann, a Catholic priest from Nicaragua who publicly criticizes the United States’s anti-terror war in Iraq and Afghanistan, will attend the dinner on September 25th, an event which was organized by five American Christian organizations and will be co-hosted by the Iranian mission to the U.N.
The dinner, which will take place at the Grand Hyatt hotel in midtown Manhattan, is billed as centering around issues pertaining to the role of religion in tackling global challenges and fostering peace, and is being sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee, the Quaker United Nations Office, the World Council of Churches, Religions for Peace and the American Friends Service Committee.
If they really wanted to tackle global challenges, they might want to look at one of the MAJOR reasons for the problems. That would be Islaminazis!
Will Ahmadinnerjacket being wearing his Leisure Suit Larry outfit? Or will he opt for formal attire.
I have to say, if these supposed Christian groups invited such a person to a dinner, then they must not be reading the same Bible I have on my nightstand.
Norway’s prime minister, Kjell Magne Bondevik, who also heads the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights, will attend. The dinner will also serve as a fast-breaking evening meal for Ahmadinejad, who is observing the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Is the Center for Peace and Human Rights another name for “we will appease those who want to destroy”? Just wondering.
Ahmadinejad has openly called for the destruction of the State of Israel, hosting a conference called “The World Without Zionism” in October of 2005. Iran’s president, who vocally denies the Nazi genocide against the Jews during the Holocaust, has referred to the Jewish State as “criminal,” “a disease,” and “a dead rat,” and issued a statement on Israel’s 60th anniversary of independence, saying, “Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken. Today, the reason for the Zionist regime’s existence is questioned, and this regime is on its way to annihilation.”
If I had any say, this POS would not set foot on U.S. soil. EVER!
What Is A “Valid Id”?
Valid IDs may not keep immigrants out of jail
Jose Estrada sipped chocolate milk outside a Madison coin-operated laundry just after sunrise, waiting for his boss to arrive and open the door.
Metro police Officer James Pearce patrolled the neighborhood along Dickerson Pike, one having trouble with break-ins.
Their chance meeting, Estrada’s identification and Pearce’s assessment of it led to Estrada’s arrest on criminal impersonation charges and possible deportation.
This makes it sound like the guy was busted for drinking milk. 
The case brings to light the challenges immigrants face in proving their identity clearly enough to avoid an arrest. Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, Mexican voter registrations and consulate-issued cards aren’t always enough to keep them out of jail. And a police spokesman admits not all officers can recognize valid ID outside what typical Tennesseans carry.
This “typical Tennessean” had to show all kind of ID to get her “typical Tennessean” driver’s license, including a birth certificate! Unless a person is actually working for the Consulate, seems to me that such an ID would be rather suspicious. This “typical Tennessean” also had to produce a birth certificate for Jr, another almost “typical Tennessean” to attend public school (long story). If we, who are obviously NOT illegal, have to produce valid documentation, why is someone with a really good tan not required to do the same? Yes, I’m aware that there are illegals from all over the world, but where do the vast MAJORITY call “home”?
What ultimately happened to Estrada raised enough questions that his attorney, the district attorney’s office and a judge agreed two weeks ago to set aside Estrada’s guilty plea. He’ll face a new hearing on the criminal impersonation charges, and he’ll also face an immigration judge because sheriff’s officials at the jail alerted federal authorities that Estrada entered the country illegally. That office’s participation in the 287g program, named for a section of federal law, gives it limited authority for immigration enforcement.
“This case is the perfect storm,” said attorney Elliott Ozment, who is handling Estrada’s and Villegas’ cases. “It demonstrates the multitude of wrongs created by some wrong-headed policies about state ID and the litany of outrages that are just a regular part of the 287g program as implemented by the sheriff to remove so-called dangerous criminals from Davidson County.”
Golly gee willakers! Heaven forbid the Sheriff’s department actually do their job, and ENFORCE the freakin’ law! Once again I’ll ask the question: What part of ILLEGAL does these people not understand?
Immigrant advocates who have searched probable cause affidavits said a pattern emerged: Local officers don’t understand or refuse to recognize ID issued by other nations.
“You will see over and over again that the person had ‘a Hispanic ID card,’ ” said Stephen Fotopulos, executive director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition.
He said moves to restrict giving state-issued ID to immigrants ineligible for driver’s licenses aren’t in the public’s best interest.
Oh yes it is! If people are here LEGALLY, then there shouldn’t be a problem. They’d have some kind of US issued ID card….green card, whatever. A visitor (tourist) from another country would have a passport.

By the way folks, you probably don’t know this but the Metricula Consular card is not ID. It is not valid ID even in Mexico. Once you illegally enter the country you go to the consulate and they give you this thing which some banks will accept, along with a taxpayer ID number, to open an bank account (which ought to be illegal). It’s not valid ID anywhere, even in Mexico.
So let me ask: Why are the U.S. law enforcement officers suppose to accept these phony IDs as legit?
I’m also getting fed up with these yahoos being called “immigrant advocates”! They are nothing more than criminals abetting other criminals!
WHAT TO CARRY
Under Metro police policy effective July 1, 2005, here are preferred forms of photo identification:
* driver’s license
* government employee or military ID
* student ID
Personally, I’d remove the ‘student ID’ from the list.
Other forms of identification that can be accepted but are considered less reliable:
* vehicle registrations, titles
* government food or housing documents
* voter registration cards
* club, fraternal or service organization membership cards
* Social Security cards
* birth certificates
* jail ID
* parole or probation documents
* rent or utility bills or receipts
If it doesn’t have a phote attached, it shouldn’t be acceptable! Again, I’d definitely take the rent or utility bills or receipts off the list. Seems you can rent a place almost anywhere in the country these days and not have to worry about being legal. Think Farmers Branch, TX.

Democrats vow to refine rescue plan
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is resisting a Democratic push to add additional help for households to the $700 billion bailout bill, the Associated Press reports.
Mr. Paulson said Sunday that because financial markets remain under severe stress, there is an urgent need for Congress to act quickly without adding other measures that could slow down passage.
Dear Lord in Heaven!!! Get the politicians out of the financial business!!!!! And for all that’s holy…KEEP the Dhimmicrats away from the purse strings!
UN: Guns fall silent in Afghanistan on Peace Day
The U.N. said tens of thousands of international and Afghan soldiers as well as Taliban militants “all stood down from offensive military operations in support of the biggest International Peace Day effort that Afghanistan has known.”
Government officials around the country reported no violence, and several credited Peace Day efforts.
“Today is Peace Day. The soldiers are resting,” said Abdul Jalal Jalal, the police chief in Kunar province, which borders Pakistan.
Maybe they should declare 365 “Peace Days”.
Corker is one of richest in Congress
Sen. Bob Corker is one of the wealthiest members of Congress, with assets ranging from $22.2 million to $105.2 million, according to a personal financial disclosure statement released Friday.

Mobile phone use ‘raises children’s risk of brain cancer fivefold’
Children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer if they use mobile phones, startling new research indicates.
The study, experts say, raises fears that today’s young people may suffer an “epidemic” of the disease in later life. At least nine out of 10 British 16-year-olds have their own handset, as do more than 40 per cent of primary schoolchildren.
I’m of the mind that children don’t actually NEED cell phones anyway. The epidemic I see? Rampant stupidity of parents giving their kids cell phones. Teenage drivers? Yeah….for emergencies….ONLY! Yakking on the phone, or texting, while driving is one of the most dangerous things a person can do behind the wheel. I’ve come close to being hit quite a few times by some bimbo blathering on her phone, not paying attention.
Lebanese Muslims turning backs on suicide bombings
The number of Lebanese Muslims who believe suicide bombings against civilians in defense of Islam are justified has fallen 42 percent since 2002, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project. Despite the dramatic decline (from 74 percent in 2002 to 32 percent in 2008), support for the practice remains higher in Lebanon than in all other countries polled in the survey, except Nigeria which stood in a statistical tie with Lebanon.
Of the Lebanese Muslims polled, Shiite respondents were more than twice as likely as Sunnis to consider suicide bombing “often” or “sometimes” justified (46 percent to 21 percent, respectively).
Does this mean some common sense is creeping in? Probably not.
Police look to relieve tensions with immigrants
Advocates for immigrant farm workers are hailing a decision by Vermont State Police not to investigate the immigration status of three farm workers allegedly assaulted and robbed earlier this month.
“This was the first time we had confronted a situation like this,” said Col. James Baker, director of the Vermont State Police. “We decided that, as far as pursuing the investigation of this case, we would not actively pursue the immigration issue.”
Peachy. So bust the farm owner who HIRED the “immigrant”. If he wasn’t hiring them, there wouldn’t be an issue of investigating them.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he would announce, at the Cabinet meeting Sunday morning, his plans to submit his letter of resignation. He left open the actual time of his resignation until early this afternoon, when he announced that he would hand in the letter of resignation to President Shimon Peres Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.
The Prime Minister said in July that he would resign “when a new [Kadima] party leader is chosen… in order to enable him/her to form a new government.” Though the implication was that he would resign before or as the efforts to form a new government begin, no date was specified.

Suitcase full of cash adds to Chavez corruption claims
A suitcase filled with $800,000 in cash has embroiled Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez in a scandal which has fuelled claims of corruption and cover-up at the heart of his self-styled socialist revolution.
A court case involving wiretaps and explosive testimony has lifted the lid on alleged attempts to buy influence across Latin America, putting Chávez on the defensive during a torrid week of coup rumours and expulsions of human rights critics and the US ambassador.

Transplant recipients fear diseases from stolen body parts
Prosecutors also claim the defendants employed a two-man “recovery team” to remove body parts. They allege that Nicelli’s funeral home contained a “secret room” in which they “would remove bones, tendons, heart valves and other tissue” from corpses without obtaining consent. In some cases, Mastromarino replaced missing bones with PVC pipes so the deceased victims would appear normal at their funerals.

Howard execs’ computers seized in immigration raid
Search warrants reveal that federal agents seized 23 computers and payroll, employee earnings and unclaimed wage records in the immigration raid on Howard Industries last month.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 595 allegedly illegal workers at the factory in Laurel.
Warrants filed Monday in federal district court describe what the agents were cleared to confiscate, and an inventory of what they took from the factory and from corporate offices in Ellisville. A third warrant for the Laurel facility was sealed and not available to the public.
The warrants made public show that the seized computers include those of the company’s president and its chief executive officer.
I really hope they nail their collective hind ends to the wall. There are legal citizens who would snap up such jobs in a heartbeat, yet greed motivates hiring illegals to drive down wages.
An FBI probe of Mayor Willie Herenton’s ties to city contractors has turned its attention to the Greyhound bus station in Downtown Memphis where the city has major redevelopment plans.
Federal agents are examining Herenton’s little-known plan to relocate Greyhound to the Memphis International Airport area, a move that has already cost $3 million and could eventually put much larger sums at stake.
Is there anything that man doesn’t have his fingers in? What good would moving the bus station to the airport do? People who typically ride buses where they want to go don’t have the luxury of getting out to the airport. What a really stupid move! Having a satellite station makes sense, but not moving the whole kit-n-kaboodle! For a city that is cash strapped, $3MIL could have gone a long way for a LOT of other things…like say….security for the flippin’ schools!
Ahmadinejad: Iran to Break ‘Hand of Offender’ That Targets Nuke Facilities
Hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday that Iran’s military will “break the hand” of any aggressor that target his country’s nuclear facilities.
Addressing a military parade broadcast live on state television, he said: “If anyone allows himself to commit even a tiny offense against Iran’s legitimate interests, borders and sacred land, our armed forces will break his hand before he pulls the trigger.”
The phrase “legitimate interests” is Iranian parlance for the country’s nuclear program, which the West says is a cover for a nuclear weapon program. Iran, which denies the charge, already is under three sets of sanctions by the U.N. Security Council over its nuclear program.
That raving lunatic is so anxious to go to war with Israel and the West, I have no doubt he’ll say, and do, just about anything to get it going. Something about that 12th Imam has a bug up his butt!
