Ban says he’s tired of U.N. bashing
On the eve of the annual meeting here of world leaders, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon complained that he is perceived as “invisible” and that neither he nor his organization gets enough credit for efforts to reform and to alleviate global ills.
The United Nations is “underappreciated” by governments and often the press, Mr. Ban said, in part because the world body doesn’t trumpet its successes. Member states, he added, are often the root causes of the organization’s all-too-frequent deadlocks.
The Useless Numnuts have “successes”? When? Was it that “oil for food” business? How about all those dead Rwandans? Was that ‘successful’? Perhaps it’s the rape of innocent children that you consider a ‘success’? When you’ve got an organization run by terrorists nations, you’re going to get some deadlocks! Freedom loving folks just don’t want y’all to run their lives. Simple. Now go away and let the bashing continue!
Spies Warn That Al Qaeda Aims for October Surprise
In the aftermath of two major terrorist attacks on Western targets, America’s counterterrorism community is warning that Al Qaeda may launch more overseas operations to influence the presidential elections in November.
Call it Osama bin Laden’s “October surprise.” In late August, during the weekend between the Democratic and Republican conventions, America’s military and intelligence agencies intercepted a series of messages from Al Qaeda’s leadership to intermediate members of the organization asking local cells to be prepared for imminent instructions.
Jeeez. Is OBL even still alive? Well, no matter, they want us dead, and will do all they can to make it so. Or convert us infidels to their ‘religion of pieces’. Ain’t gonna happen with this ol’ broad…..so…
Fallout Over Iran Rally and Palin Invitation Roils Jewish Community
America’s Jewish community appears to be more concerned about partisan politics than about the threat posed by Iran, according to some Jewish representatives.
They point to the controversy stemming from Monday’s “Stop Iran Now” rally in New York City, an event that both Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin were invited to attend.
Since the Shrilldebeast wouldn’t get top billing and would have to share the spotlight, she weenied out. I guess even she, like the majority of Dhimmicrats, doesn’t understand the concept of ‘united we stand, divided we fall’.
UT student served with search warrant in Palin case
The FBI reportedly served a federal search warrant early Sunday morning on David Kernell, a University of Tennessee student accused of hacking into a personal e-mail account of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
A person identifying himself as a witness told WBIR-TV in Knoxville that FBI agents served the warrant at Kernell’s apartment, where several students were having a party. The agents took the students’ names and then asked the witness and the students who did not live in the apartment to wait outside while they took pictures, according to WBIR.
I’m still going to reserve judgment. But reading some of the comments attached to the article, it’s obvious the PDS is rampant. Evidently, hacking into someone’s private email is just fine with them, but it’s not ok for the gubmint to do the same when trying to keep their sorry asses safe. Hmm…
Iraqi MP may be sentenced to death for visiting Israel
First his two sons were murdered. Now he faces prosecution. The reason for Mithal al-Alusi’s troubles? Visiting Israel and advocating peace with the Jewish state – something Iraq’s leaders refuse to consider.
The Iraqi is at the center of a political storm after his fellow lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to strip him of his immunity and allow his prosecution for visiting Israel – a crime punishable by death under a 1950s-era law. Such a fate is unlikely for al-Alusi, though he may lose his party’s sole seat in parliament.
Because he had visited Israel, many Iraqis assume the maverick legislator was the real target of the assassins who killed his sons in 2005 while he escaped unharmed.
Every time I become optimistic about Iraq, they go and do something even more ignorant. Screw ‘em!
Palin energizes California Republicans
Post-convention swing state polls are tipping toward Sen. John McCain, the TV pundits are waxing about “The Palin Factor,” and Sen. Barack Obama’s California supporters are freaking out about a race Democrats were uncommonly confident about only a month ago.
Heh!
Despite generating all this fear and enthusiasm, the Palin Factor hasn’t changed the race in California. Obama beats McCain 52 percent to 36 percent in a Field Poll released last week, and neither campaign is broadcasting ads in the state’s expensive television markets. On Thursday, Palin canceled her rally and fundraising visit to the state planned for this week.
Well, what can you expect from a region that is basically run by moonbats? Sorry Jenn, Bushy, etc.
I wish y’all were the majority, but common sense seems to be in short supply on the LEFT coast. sigh….
Change in plans reportedly saved Pakistani leaders
Pakistan’s top leaders were to dine at the Marriott devastated by a truck bombing over the weekend, but changed the venue at the last minute, a senior official said Monday. A hotel official, however, denied there were any plans for a government dinner.
The blast in the capital Islamabad killed at least 53 people and underscored the extremist challenge facing nuclear-armed Pakistan. Two intelligence officials said Pakistani troops and tribesmen opened fire on two U.S. helicopters after they crossed from Afghanistan into the northwest tribal region, where Taliban and al-Qaida militants are operating.
Lucky for them, not so lucky for those who were murdered. Perhaps Pakistan should consider a bit of border control of their own?
Terrorism: Arab leaders on Al-Qaeda ‘enemies’ list
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi are among several Arab leaders considered enemies of Al-Qaeda, according to a new video released by the terror network.
Their names are included on a list of enemies in the video released by Al-Qaeda’s production arm, al-Sahab, on the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and Iraq’s Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Husaini al-Sistani, and leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, are also included on the list.

Well, don’t that beat all! Rather interesting article.
