This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won’t be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!
I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000.00 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens, 18+ years of age.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ years of age into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person age 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual age 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam, but it means that every adult age 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 as an individual or $595,000.00 as a family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college – it’ll be there
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs
Invest in the market – capital drives growth
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else
Remember, this is for every adult U S Citizen age 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( ‘vote buy’ ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President. If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG – liquidate it. Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up. Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.
Sure it’s a crazy idea that can ‘never work.’, but can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $700 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.
Won’t ever happen. Makes too much sense!

EDIT TO ADD: As a side note, I didn’t write this, I didn’t DO THE MATH, I got it in an email as is plainly stated in the above paragraph, I enjoyed it, I didn’t pick it apart in a critique, I posted it, and it’s there for you to enjoy, or not, your choice…
Yes, I DO realize the bail out is $700,000,000,000.00 dollars and not $85,000,000,000.00 as the email stated… Damn…
Thanks Fred. Honestly, in my humble opinion, it doesn’t matter whether it’s $700BIL, or $85BIL, it’ll end up costing us TRILLIONS in the end.
Time to rectify that problem and pop some pills! Dang! This hurts!
Actually, I slept pretty well last night, after doing a lot of shifting around, then propping the leg up on a few pillows. Only woke up once in pain and promptly took a pill.
My biggest problem right now is the itching going on under the bandages. Not the holes themselves, but the adhesive is driving me batsh*t. Such a delicate flower…yeah….I know.
I’m really curious why they have to paint ya yellow? YUCK! I did manage to get most of that stuff off, finally. Well, at least what I can see of it at any rate. When I talked to the doctor’s office, they said to leave the bandaging on for 24 to 48 hours. I’m going to split the difference and remove it this evening….if I can stand it that long. It’s driving me crazy! Mid calf to mid thigh? Sheesh!
I have to say, contrary to what I had been told about Hardin County Medical Center, I got really good care! The nurses were great! My doctor seems to have done a good job, and I’ve gotten several calls asking me how I’m doing. Evidently, there have been some folks that weren’t treated as well, but I had NO problem at all. Well, other than the fact that they had to smack me around, trying to find a vein. Mine are quite small. Having a sense of humor helps!
Ok, time to pass out now!
Can a Holocaust happen in the United States of America? “Yes,” say Rabbi Lazer Brody of the award wining blog Lazer Beams and Shifra Hoffman, Executive Director of Shuva, The Israel Emergency Aliyah Movement. Both stated, in back-to- back interviews with Tamar Yonah on Israel National Radio’s Weekend Edition show, that a holocaust could be just around the corner …in the United States.
I sincerely hope the Rabbi is wrong about Americans. Unfortunately, with the growing Islamification, I’m afraid he might be quite correct.
“People think that a holocaust starts with concentration camps.” Hoffman said. “[But] that’s where it ends. It doesn’t start with that. It starts with graffiti; it starts with murmurings in the bar, as the late and great [Rabbi] Meir Kahane used to say, ‘When times are good, the Jew-haters hate the Jews quietly. When times are bad, they hate Jews loudly, and when times are economically terrible, they hate Jews violently.’”
A stereo type from the Middle Ages (?), pushed by Christians of the time, still alive and well in the 21st century? There is something really wrong with this type of thinking. Where does this hatred come from, what is it that fuels it? I’m sorry, I just don’t understand. Am I that naive?
“I pity the poor brokers in America that don’t have emunah [faith] and personal prayer to fall back on,” says Rabbi Lazer Brody. “In a bar off Wall Street, the stock brokers were drowning their woes in their wine at the close of the market. And one broker commented very prophetically, that nothing will be like it was before.”
It seems that many in the financial business use the dollar as their god. I, too, pity them. Money doesn’t give comfort of the spirit.
With banks collapsing, mortgage closures, layoffs, and people losing their homes, “Hashem is talking to us loud and clear,” he states. Brody stated that he knows it will not be popular to say it, but what we see today “is a template for a holocaust, but people don’t want to know about it. They want to know about the World Series, what’s for dinner, and what’s on TV tonight. But we have a template like pre-holocaust Germany.”
I do not want to bury my head in the sand, as so many did in Germany of the 30′s. None of us should. As Americans, we can not let this happen again. Blaming a certain group of people for the actions of so many…. politicians, banks, consumers themselves, is down right insane.
Hoffman recently put out an ad in several international publications: “Warning! American Jews are in danger. As the monetary crisis in the United States worsens with leading banks failing, countless neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups are spreading their venomous message on the internet and at public demonstrations blaming Jews for America’s economic and racial problems as well as the war in Iraq. Calling themselves ‘true American patriots’, these Jew-haters praise Hitler as a hero, and advocate violence. American Jews, wake up! They mean what they say, and they mean you! Come home to Israel now, before it’s too late.”
“True Americans” do NOT hate Jews. I find it more than offensive for Hoffman to lump us all together. I would hope those groups are in the minority. Perhaps there is an underlying ignorance, but those who have educated themselves on the issues know better.
I just suffered through Joe Biden’s speech. I have NO idea what the heck he said. IMHO, he said many things that are just the opposite of what BHO said last week. I’m very confused.
What I did come away with…..”Ladies and gentlemen, I am a moron!” I got the impression that even the audience was a bit confused.
Councilman Eric Crafton officially made his second stab at a petition-driven charter amendment Tuesday when he turned in more than 5,000 signatures from Davidson County voters who want a special election for English Only.
Crafton repeated his claim that the cost of the $350,000 special election, which could be held Jan. 22, falls to Mayor Karl Dean and the judicial system, which thwarted his efforts the first time around.
I’d really like to know when this country stopped being ruled by the “will of the people”? What exactly was the turning point? We’re a Republic, or at least we USE to be….when did those in office decide that the people were so stupid, they are unable to make rational decisions? They’ve got the signatures, they had the signatures prior to this round. One mayor and some judges have decided people don’t have the right to make decisions? I don’t bloody well think so!
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke Tuesday warned of dire consequences for the economy and for average Americans if lawmakers do not quickly pass a $700 billion bailout for faltering banks.
But lawmakers remained deeply skeptical about the bill and warned that it will take longer than a week to pass and will include provisions that the administration opposes. Leading Democrats remained bent on including limits on bank executive compensation and an equity stake for taxpayers in the banks that benefit from the bailout.
Of course it would take longer than a week! Congress is too busy making useless resolutions to ever get anything done. It shouldn’t be that difficult to decide to put the country ever farther into debt. They do it all the time, with a great deal a glee! Asshats! They’ve wasted so much time and OUR money doing NOTHING, playing partisan politics at the expense of our nation.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday challenged the unjust world order and pressures exerted by some powers seeking to trample the rights of other nations, oppression imposed on the majority of the global community, especially on the people of Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, he expressed concern about challenges such as efforts to shatter the sanctity of families, destroy cultures, humiliate lofty values, neglect commitments, expand the shadow of threats, as well as about the arms race and the unfairness and inability of the systems governing world affairs in reforming the status quo.
Did they find this guy in the nuthatch and push him into office? Honestly, if ever there was a crazy person in high office, it’s this clown. He’s a very DANGEROUS clown. Kind of like the character from “It” by Stephen King.
A federal grand jury ended its session Tuesday without indicting a Democratic state lawmaker’s son in an investigation of someone hacking Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s personal e-mail.
That doesn’t mean the investigation is over.
Investigators last week searched 20-year-old David Kernell’s apartment in Knoxville, where he is a student at the University of Tennessee, but no charges have been filed. Kernell’s father is Democratic state Rep. Michael Kernell of Memphis.
I should hope the investigation isn’t over. Whether or not it was this kid, or some other weasel, this goes far beyond a ‘prank’. I will still reserve opinion on the kid.
The Bush administration’s $700 billion plan to bail out the financial industry is “extremely faulty,” Former President Jimmy Carter said at a Tuesday night town hall-style meeting.
Carter said he believes action is necessary but is skeptical of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s current plan.
“It’s only three pages of outline. It gives him dictatorial power with no supervision,” Carter said.
Carter told the audience the $700 billion bailout figure amounts to “$10,000 for every family in America.”
Well, if anyone should know about ‘faulty’, it would be Jimmah Cahtah! Actually, there are a LOT of things that are faulty coming out of D.C., so I can’t really disagree with him. (ack!)
Two Tennessee State University astronomers have made a discovery that is causing a bang in the most prestigious astronomy circles — and that could give humans pause about Earth’s fate.
Gregory Henry and Francis Frekel, part of a team of researchers from around the country, revealed that in a faraway solar system about as old as Earth’s, two planets collided and annihilated each other.
Nothing was left but a dense cloud of warm dust. If life existed on either of the planets, it would have been wiped out.
While astronomers say that could happen on Earth, it’s not likely.
Then why bring it up?
President Ahmadinejad is suggesting the Jews are to blame for the financial crisis.
Delivering a speech redolent of classical European anti-Semitism, the Iranian leader accused Zionists of controlling the banks and was embraced yesterday by listeners at the General Assembly. He exchanged a long hug with the Assembly president and was feted afterward with mostly friendly questions from handpicked reporters.
Mr. Ahmadinejad’s speech — in which he accused “Zionists” of domineering Americans and Europeans through their banking and political activities, and predicted the rise of a “righteous and perfect human being” in their place — was denounced by Israel’s President Peres as a return to the language of Hitler and the fraudulent anti-Semitic tract the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Hitler used the same ‘argument’ as an excuse to murder. Ahmadinnerjacket is a WHOLE lot like Hitler in his speeches. If people don’t see him as dangerous, then they are surely delusional. Bush is right. We MUST stand united against the evil. However, asking members of the Useless Numnuts to unite against evil? Pfft! They are advocates of the evil!
The Jerusalem Municipality conducted a discussion Monday about a protest raised against the Muslim Waqf Authority’s plan to build a commercial center for the Arab public near the Mt. of Olives. The Waqf oversees the Temple Mount and some other holy sites.
Jerusalem Activist, and National Union/ National Religious Party candidate for Jerusalem council, Aryeh King raised the protest. He asserts that the new structure would impinge on the skyline of the ancient site, as seen from the Temple Mount or from the Jericho road.
People are suppose to be respectful of Muslim “holy sites”, which are without number, but it’s ok for Muslims to express a complete lack of respect for Jewish and/or Christian holy sites? And they wonder why people don’t bend over backwards for them? Pfft! Bend over THIS!
Father Canio Canistri, 68, was among three people attacked by Marco Luzi, 25, after he burst into the church following the screening of Dan Brown’s blockbuster.
Police searched Luzi’s house and found a picture of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper – a vital part of the plot in the controversial thriller.
Witnesses said Luzi had burst in armed with two knives, and carrying a set of rosary beads.
He is said to have shouted that he was the ”Antichrist” as well as talking about the Da Vinci Code.
Obviously, one of the numerous disturbed people who takes fiction as fact, and in dire need of psychological help. I wonder how long it will be before people start blaming Dan Brown for this animal’s actions?
WAUPUN — Barack Obama’s Wisconsin Campaign for Change left no change in Waupun last week.
The presidential candidate’s campaign staff arrived at the Chit Chat Cafe at 324 E. Main St., last Tuesday to hold a round table discussion about Obama and his positions.
More than 40 people crowded the family restaurant.
But when it came time to leave, the campaign staff got up and left, refusing to pay the tab for coffee.
“When they came the place was full and they started talking,” said the waitress Amanda, who didn’t want to use her last name. “Then some people said they couldn’t hear, and so they stood up and started giving a speech, talking loud enough for everyone to hear.
“We didn’t even know they were having a meeting here.”
Amanda said it started last week when two men came in to eat. “After they ate they asked if we could reserve a table for 10 people for next week. We said sure. We didn’t know it was for a meeting.
“We didn’t know what was going on Tuesday. I didn’t know anything about this. They never told us, but they had press releases, and were on the radio, and called people to come.”
As the campaign staff started walking out, a startled Amanda stopped them at the door and asked who was going to pay for the coffee.
“One man said he only had $10, and another said they had to hurry on to the next meeting in Watertown,” Amanda said.
About 20 cups of coffee weren’t paid for but that small amount didn’t concern Chit Chat owner Debbie Vanden Boom.
“It’s the principle of the matter. Had they said they were having a meeting and many people would be coming and could the coffee be complimentary, it wouldn’t have been a problem,” she said.
“On top of that, Amanda never even got a tip.”
After living in Waupun for nearly 7 years, I’m well aware of the tight wads when it comes to tipping. But for them to not even pay? That is not only an embarrassment for the decent hard working folks in the town, it’s just down right theft. I get the feeling these weren’t actually residents of the town. None that I know would ever do such a thing, left or right.
Might I make a suggestion? Residents of Waupun should go to the Chit Chat, have some coffee, and leave double the price, PLUS a decent tip. Show the BHO folks how it’s done in small town America!

2 John 1:7-11
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
