Nashville to get $4M for foreclosed homes
Mike Clinard, Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency assistant director of community development, said the plan is to secure those properties and resell them to stabilize the neighborhoods.
The housing agency will administer the funds and will make an inventory of foreclosed homes.
I honestly feel bad that people have lost their homes. That being said, I find it appalling that you and I have to PAY for their houses. If they couldn’t afford the dadburn thing, they shouldn’t have bought it! In the grand scheme of things, 4MIL doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but put together all those 4MILs and you’ve got a boat load of taxpayer money being used to fix a problem the gubmint created.
23 Ike victims remain missing from Bolivar
Despite pleas, the task of recovering remains has been slow, if not altogether absent in some remote areas. Only six bodies have been discovered in storm debris so far, washed up in remote Chambers County marshlands or hidden in the mucky terrain of Goat Island.
Some have yet to be identified by the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office. They lie silently, waiting for forensic evidence — X-rays, scars, tattoos, DNA — to give each a name.
I hate to say it, but odds of finding any of those 23 still alive are fairly slim. My prayers are with their families.
Arabs Stone Jewish Baby in Akko, Hamas Calls for Solidarity
Three Jews, including a baby, suffered injuries by rock-throwing Arabs who attacked Hasidim who were dancing after the Sabbath. Akko city officials said that police arrived at the scene but did not immediately act to restrain the Arabs and instead pushed back the Jews with water hoses. Jews protesting the Arab violence firebombed one Arab apartment.
I realize that there have been acts on both sides, but stoning a baby? Intentionally? (insert your choice of four lettered words here)
Poll: Close race between McCain, Obama in Ohio
THE POLL: The Ohio Newspaper Poll, presidential race among likely Ohio voters (20 electoral votes).
THE NUMBERS: John McCain 48 percent, Barack Obama 46 percent.
Okie dokie. Looks like all the attempts to cheat are backfiring.
Environmentalists slam Bush “fox-in-henhouse” plan
The Interior Department, one of two federal agencies pushing for this policy change, rejects the environmentalists’ critique, saying the new rule would cut bureaucratic red tape and free government scientists for more important work.
But a coalition of conservation groups sees the move as an attempt to gut the Endangered Species Act.
“This is exactly the fox guarding the henhouse,” Michael Daulton of the National Audubon Society said. “It’s a scary proposition to think about agencies with no wildlife expertise at all making decisions about the fate of species, potentially leading to extinction.”
I often see these so called ‘environmentalists’ as nothing more than folks with an agenda. I don’t believe they give a whit about the environment, or the wildlife.
Tax rebate, food stamp money possible in aid plan
After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.
The bill’s total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.
Are they freaking kidding??? First off, they are going on the assumption that Bubba Hussein is going to win. Second, haven’t they already done enough damage to this country? Stop tinkering!!!!! The best thing the DO NOTHING Congress could do is what they do best…..NOTHING!
