Barack Obama – Something Less Than Truthful?

To Barack Hussein Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008, that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008, that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted. In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year. The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Your speech in Philadelphia on March 18, 2008, about “race” contradicted your statement to Anderson Cooper on March 14 when you said that you never heard Reverend Wright make his negative statements about white America . While your attendance at Trinity Church for 20 years is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on March 14.

This Is Annoying

18 October 2008, 9:31 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under 2008, Crime, Opinion.

Things have gotten really nasty during this campaign.  Ok, this is starting to look like a Civil War, without much blood shed…..so far.  There are people on both sides complaining that their yard signs, McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden, are disappearing or being destroyed.  I even heard at the local RP HQ’s that it’s happening around the Podunk area.  We live in the boonies, so it hasn’t affected us, not to mention we don’t have any McCain/Palin signs up (they were out).

Now, while the Mr and I were on our way over to the park for him to do a big of pickin’ and grinnin’ this afternoon, I saw something that serious chaps my hide.  A campaign sign that had obviously been vandalized.  Was it a McCain/Palin sign?  Nope!  It was an Obama/Biden BIG sign.  It appeared to have been sliced in half with a knife, or box cutter, or some such thing.

Now, I am in no way, shape, or form, a Barack Hussein Obama supporter, and I’m sure anyone who has taken a gander at my blog will know this!  But for someone to do this?  WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

I don’t want to believe that there are such people on the “right” side of this fight.  I don’t want to, but I know there are some.

Now, KNOCK IT OFF!  Both sides!  Trespassing, vandalism, destruction of private property….this is NOT how grownups behave!

I’m Tuckered….

18 October 2008, 6:28 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Just Cuz, Life, Tennessee.

….and full!  But that won’t stop me from munching down on that Mississippi Mud brownie looking thing we picked up today.  :)

We got over to the park around 3:45, and there were already a few folks milling around.  Evidently, this is some kind of annual thing that some local musicians do every year, so there were a variety of folks setting their stuff where they could get to it to set up when it was there turn.

I had to snap a picture of the sun on the Tennessee River, don’cha know.

The first guy up was pretty good on the guitar.  He played some modern type jazz sounding thing, which I don’t much care for, but watching him play was quite a treat.  Then he had a woman join him to sing.  She was pretty good, Patsy Cline standards, which is ok, cuz I like Pasty Cline.

Then Wayne Jerrold and “The Medicare Cowboys” were up.  Hey, that’s how they were introduced.  Although, his daughter was none too thrilled with being referred to as a “Medicaid Cowboy”.  To be honest, they sounded a LOT better this morning.  I’m not sure if it was the set up, or the place.  Now, the show stealer….? This little thing:

This is Wayne’s granddaughter.  Her mom plays the mandolin and sings.  Reckon it runs in the family, eh?  She belted out a couple of tunes, and was a great hit.

Now, we’re home, I haven’t gotten any laundry down, and need to snoop the blogs so I can catch up on what’s been going on today.

Small Town Fun

18 October 2008, 2:05 pm. 10 Comments. Filed under Just Cuz, Life, Tennessee.

Just got back from the Podunk shingdig.  I LOVE small town living!

We left in plenty of time for the Mr to get set up.  We pull in, park, and find out the band is setting up waaaaaay back in the park.  Hmm….  So, I move the car, park near the pavillion, they’re getting all set up, sound checks and all.  Then someone decided no one is waaaaaaay out there in BFE, so they packed everything up and moved it all to the main area by the firehouse/community center.

While they were doing that, I got nosy and snapped a few pictures.  Hey.  I’m not musician, and I wouldn’t know what to do, so why hang around, right?

Of course, you’ve got your cakes, for the cake walk (which I’m missed cuz we left :? ), both homemade and store bought.  Mine was store bought, of course.  Dang!  It was pretty.  Almost didn’t make to the shindig.  Heh.  There’s a lot more that ya can’t see, but you get the idea.  LOTS of yummy looking cakes…especially the ones in the box that ya can’t see.

Naturally, you’ve got to have some folks selling home made goodies, which the Mr and I raided on our way out…..elderberry jelly, some peanut brittle, a couple of other type of jellies.  :-D   Hey, they’re trying to build a new church.  Gotta help out, right?  We helped the Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts while we were at it.  Naturally.

There is the required car show.  This is just a small portion.  There were a couple of folks out there from the local car dealerships trying to sell big a ol’ honkin’ gas guzzlin’ truck, and an itty bitty, funny looking thing, which I can only assume, is great on gas mileage.  I doubt anyone would buy it for it’s looks.

Theses were my favorites, a couple of Hudsons!

After drooling over the cars, especially the candy apple red one, which of course, I forgot to take a picture, I wandered on back on to where the folks were setting up.  Wayne Jerrolds is the guy in the red shirt.

Test, 1,2,3!  Heh

Eventually, the pickin’ and grinnin’ started.

Honestly, they were pretty good.  They even played Jerusalem Ridge for me.  I love that tune!  The Mr got invited to go play with them this afternoon too over at the Wayne Jerrolds Riverside Park (yeah, he’s got a park named for him), so we’re going to do that too.  Cool.  The Mr is startin’ to meet folks to pick with!

After they finished, the Mr and I munched down on some pretty decent BBQ made by the Fire Dept.  He wanted to take a gander at the cars, so we mosied on back and took a peak.  I must have missed this earlier.

I wouldn’t swear to it, but I’m pretty sure that cassette/cd/radio wasn’t standard on whatever this old thing is….tin lizzy?  Shoot, I don’t know…YES, it WAS before my time!

While we were snooping, there was quite a racket overhead.  Down comes the Air VAC copter.  No, the balloons were not on it, those were tied to the fence.

The Mr decided he wanted to come home for a while, just to see how ‘his’ Badgers were doing.  Pfft!  Should have stayed at the shindig.  Heh.

Now, I’m gonna relax a bit before we head out again.

Wall Street banks in $70bn staff payout

Financial workers at Wall Street’s top banks are to receive pay deals worth more than $70bn (£40bn), a substantial proportion of which is expected to be paid in discretionary bonuses, for their work so far this year – despite plunging the global financial system into its worst crisis since the 1929 stock market crash, the Guardian has learned.

Staff at six banks including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup are in line to pick up the payouts despite being the beneficiaries of a $700bn bail-out from the US government that has already prompted criticism. The government’s cash has been poured in on the condition that excessive executive pay would be curbed.

Whoa! Wait a minute! You mean to tell me that these scumbags who ran their banks into the ground are going to get bonuses paid with OUR money????? Don’t they already have enough to retire comfortably? Do they really need more of OUR money? People work hard, save, pay their taxes, save, work, save, pay taxes, and THIS is how the gumbint thanks them for doing the right thing? By giving their hard earned dollars out in freakin’ bonuses???? Screw that! In the real world, if the company doesn’t do well, you don’t get bonuses. No one is coming along to bailout the little guy that is hurting right now because of the corruption in D.C. Why should these asshats?

Four Tops star Levi Stubbs dies

Levi Stubbs, lead singer of legendary Motown band The Four Tops, has died at his home in Detroit, US, aged 72.

The performer, who had suffered ill-health for several years, passed away in his sleep.

Abdul Fakir is the only surviving original member of the group, which has sold more than 50m records.

Oh man. I grew up listening to a lot of Motown. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore! Maybe he rest in peace. Prayers with family and friends.

Complaint hits Rezko land deal

A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kenneth J. Connor said that his reappraisal of Rita Rezko’s property was replaced with a higher one and that he was fired when he questioned the document.

Hey! Didn’t you know better than to question anyone associated with THE ONE? Even back then????

Police: Futures trader’s losses include his life

Inside the Chicago Board of Trade building Friday, the manic energy of the trading pits masked a mourning as word spread that a stock index futures trader died of what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound just hours after suffering massive losses in the markets.

Police found Joseph Luizzi, 44 of Oak Brook, dead Thursday morning near a Metra station in Berwyn, police chief William Kushner said. Losses he could not possibly cover left Luizzi despondent, said Kushner, citing a note written by the deceased.

Inside the pockets of Luizzi’s jacket were trading tickets. Asked how much Luizzi had lost to the markets, Kushner responded: “He lost his life.”

Many traders were hesitant Friday to talk about Luizzi. Those who did kept their eyes on screens showing the wild path of the Standard & Poor’s 500.

Ok, this is ridiculous. Stop panicking people!!! Money is NOT a reason to kill yourself. Yeah, times can get really tough, but in the end, it all works out right if you just have faith.

Man plays banjo during brain surgery

Adcock, a well-known, well-traveled banjo player, recently underwent deep brain stimulation surgery, a cutting-edge procedure used to cure tremors. The surgery not only did that for Adcock, but also restored his dream of continuing to play music professionally.

The uncommon part was what the doctors asked him to do: play music while they worked on his brain.

Well, ok then. Hey, why not! But I’d think the thing would get in the way sometimes, not to mention get on their nerves. Heh. He could have told banjo jokes. “What does a banjo player in a suit say? Your honor.” “What’s the difference between cutting up an onion, and cutting up a banjo? Nobody cries when you cut up a banjo.”

Anti-Muslim attack called bogus

A Muslim student who said a masked gunman assaulted her after he wrote anti-Islamic slurs in a women’s restroom at Elmhurst College was arrested Friday after an investigation concluded the attack never happened.

A week after the case roiled the small college, Elmhurst Police Chief Steven Neubauer said Safia Jilani, 19, of Oak Brook had been booked on a felony charge of filing a false police report, which is punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison.

Go read all of this one. It’s enough to make your blood boil! How many of the so called attacks on Muslims have been bogus. I’d say the majority!

Fact Check: Obama’s claim of benefit cuts suspect

Medicare has become a new focal point in the presidential campaign, with Democratic nominee Barack Obama accusing Republican John McCain of seeking “cuts in benefits, eligibility, or both.”

Elderly voters are sure to take notice of such statements being made in a 30-second television ad that the Obama campaign will air in some crucial swing states. Obama hit the same theme in a campaign appearance Friday in Virginia.

But Obama’s charge is built on a shaky foundation. The campaign’s evidence that McCain would make such cuts relies on a Wall Street Journal article where no specific cuts were mentioned.

Golly gee! You mean to tell me THE ONE is making up stuff? What a shocker! (/sarcasm)

Violence claims 13 lives across Mexico in last 24 hours

Gunmen forced six men to kneel in front of a business and shot them dead in this border city, part of a wave of violence that claimed at least 13 lives across Mexico over 24 hours, police said Friday.

A note reading “for all rats, this will continue” was found among the bodies at an events hall in Ciudad Juarez, said city police spokesman Alejandro Pariente.

We can NOT let this spill over the border! We’ve already got enough violence, thanks to street gangs, many of whom are illegals. Build that freakin’ fence, and keep the trash out! Put the gun turrets up, and shoot to kill! I’m getting sick of the do NOTHING politicians. Have they stopped swearing allegiance to the U.S.????

Evangelicals are in the news, but not in newsrooms

Here is a foolproof way for politicians to score points with evangelical voters: Attack the media, an institution widely seen as lacking conservative Christian voices.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain and his evangelical running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, have done just that at times during the campaign, with repeated jabs at the “liberal media.”

Damn skippy! We’ve been vilified by the MSM and found irrelevant, and it’s getting really old! There are a LOT of us out here. Although, it’s been obvious to me, that no one wants to hear what WE have to say….just the moonbats.  Pst!  REAL evangelicals, and conservatives, vote their values.

Verse of the Day

18 October 2008, 7:32 am. Comments Off. Filed under Faith.

1 Timothy 5:17-20

17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
