An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Playing Tourist On Day 4
Lucky for me, this has been a short day. My feet are so swollen, we spent a good chunk of the morning trying to find me a pair of shoes that won’t cut off the circulation to my brain. Yeah, it was getting that bad. AFTER we did a little snooping of course.
We went back over to the Old City were there is an archaeological dig. Many levels of history, from the 1st Temple era to the Crusaders, and Turks and….well, you get the idea.
There is still a little digging going on, but for the most part, they seem to have stopped the majority.
These arches, that are now blocked, were the entry way to the Temple, where folks would bring their sacrifices. This is the way Jesus would have entered. To the left, are bigger stairs where He, and other worshippers would have exited.
I didn’t get a picture of the stairs because there was a group there. They invited us to pray with them, and we did. It was a pretty serious moment, standing on the very steps where my Lord walked, praying with other believers. Pretty cool! They were from Sacramento, by the way.
Here we have a bad picture of a road where people would have walked towards the entrance. I seem to have cut off the best part. This is an actual road from the Second Temple period.
This is what’s left of an arch, called Robertson Arch cuz he’s the one who found it.
A view of the city from the opposite side. And us in front the city from the opposite side.
Then, we were off to shoe shop. Avi took us to a regular type mall, and once again, we were checked by a security guard with a big gun. We didn’t have any luck there, and if my feet hadn’t been hurting so bad, and Avi wasn’t in a hurry, I could have wandered around there for hours. Cool stuff.
We went to another store and I found the PERFECT pair of Israeli sandals. Lots of cush and plenty of room. So, after we rest up a bit, we’re going to head back to the Old City and go t-shirt hunting…for a SPECIFIC t-shirt. The possibility of food is in our future too. I’m starving!
I’m kind of glad Avi had other obligations this afternoon, and for the next couple of days. That man wears us out! LOL Although, tomorrow, we’re heading south to a really cool place. No doubt, I’ll need the extra day down there to recouperate!

Glad you found some shoes for your tootsies! I got goosebumps reading about you praying where Christ prayed – I’m sure that’s a memory for a lifetime…
@Chris from Racine:
You have NO idea. I thought I had some idea of how I’d feel, but… nope….what I thought wasn’t even close!
Isn’t it amazing what a decent pair of shoes will do for your outlook? Heh.
I can’t even imagine what I would feel besides completely overwhelmed – there would probably be some tears involved…
@Chris from Racine:
It’s pretty hard to describe. Think chocolate ice cream on a sunny afternoon, sitting in a comfortable chair, think they most comfortable, joyous moment, then multiply that by a hundred, and it doesn’t even come close.
Wow! I guess I’ll have to try to talk hubbie into going…I’m so pleased for you. What an awesome experience.
I can’t believe you were doing all that walking in sandals. No wonder your feet hurt.
@Pastor John:
Pfft! It was the sandals that made it all better. LOL My sneakers are what gave me all the trouble. sigh…
