Fire Pelosi!
It’s unanimous: Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel remains chair of Ways and Means Committee
House Democrats voted unanimously today to keep Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel as chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the next Congress.
Rangel, 78, is currently under investigation by the House ethics committee for failing to pay about $10,000 in income taxes on a Dominican Republican vacation villa he owns and rents out.
Once the issue surfaced, Rangel said he was only guilty of a simple error, paid the back taxes and himself called for an investigation.
The long-time Congressman hired accounting firm Watkins, Meegan, Drury and Co. to examine his tax returns and House financial disclosure filings and report the findings directly to House ethics officials.
Rangel has also been accused of unfairly amassing four rent-stabilized apartments in the city and using official congressional stationery to fundraise for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College – issues the ethics panel is also probing.
The Ways and Means Committee oversees the nation’s tax policies.
Rangel has said he generally approves of President-elect Barack Obama’s tax platform, which includes a middle-class tax cut.
The chairman also favors abolition of the alternative minimum tax.
House GOP leader John Boehner of Ohio has demanded that House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) strip Rangel of his chairmanship until the end of the investigation, saying he had flouted the very tax laws he helped write.
But Pelosi said Rangel wasn’t going anywhere – an assertion confirmed by yesterday’s unanimous vote by House Democrats.

In Honor Of Turkey Day
Last year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister’s house for the traditional feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store.
When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, and inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven.
When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird.
With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, “Patricia, you’ve cooked a pregnant bird!”
At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the family two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs!

Grandfathers and Grandmothers
A friend, who worked away from home all week, always made a special effort to be with his family on the weekends. Every Sunday morning he would take his 7-year old granddaughter out for a drive in the car for some bonding time, just he and his granddaughter.
One particular Sunday however, he had a bad cold and really didn’t feel like being up at all. Luckily, his wife came to the rescue and said that she would take their granddaughter out.
When they returned, the little girl anxiously ran upstairs to see her grandfather. ‘Well, did you enjoy your ride with grandma?’
‘Oh yes, PaPa’ the girl replied, ‘and do you know what? We didn’t see a single dumb bastard or lousy shit head anywhere we went today!’
Brings a tear to your eye doesn’t it?

Respect Must Be Earned
I’ve been reading here and there about how the conservatives will treat President-elect Barack Obama. Some say they won’t stoop to the “derangement syndrome” of the left during the Bush years. Others won’t even claim him as POTUS. Me? Well, I’m not in either camp just yet. I’ve watching as best I can to see how he’ll react to each sitation as it comes along. Unfortunately, so far, I am NOT impressed by his behavior. The man hasn’t even taken the Oath of Office, yet he, and his followers are behaving like they are already in charge.
I realize that the transition period between one administration and another can be a tad rocky, but the choices BO has been making so far, as to his cabinet, have not instilled any confidence, at least not in me.

And that’s just a few. What happened to the “change”? The “hope” was dropped by the wayside quite a while back, so hoping for the best is no longer even an issue. I guess reality slapped someone upside the head?
I’m not terribly impressed. More so, I’m quite concerned about his choices so far. The campaign was run on “change”. Where’s the change? It’s the same nonsense that we’ve been dealing with from D.C. for years! Lawyers! Political hacks! Same ol’, same ol’!
I’m fairly open minded, most of the time, and am willing to listen to varying viewpoints (I still know right from wrong). I was even willing to give Bill Clinton a chance back when, even if I didn’t vote for him. In the long run, Clinton could have been a lot worse, although he was bad enough.
With that in mind, Barack Obama is going to have to do a whole lot better to gain ANY respect from me.

Analysis: American Jews Vote their Religion: Liberalism
Based on their vote, American Jews either don’t care about Israel or are fooling themselves. So concludes GrassTopsUSA columnist Don Feder, of the Boston Herald.
In his column of Nov. 17, Feder writes that the fact that 77% of American Jews voted for Barack Obama in the recent Presidential election proves that Israel is far from a crucial factor in their voting patterns.
“Once again, in 2008, most American Jews voted their religion – liberalism,” Feder wrote.
Feder feels that other minorities “have a clearer perception of where their interests lie.” He cites statistics compiled by the American Muslim Task Force for Civil Rights and Elections, which says that nearly 90% of Muslims voted for Obama. “Smart Muslims, dumb Jews,” Feder concludes.

I gotta tell ya, I wasn’t all that surprised to overhear Jews from New York singing the praises of B. Hussein while visiting the Western Wall. What DID surprise me was that the guide did not try to set them straight about their support of such an obvious bad choice for Israel. I’m also extremely curious why so many American Christians show more support for the Jewish homeland that American Jews. Their choice defies all logic. But then, liberalism defies logic.

With Time magazine comparing Obama to Jesus, I guess we should be relieved that, this week, liberals are only comparing him to Abraham Lincoln.
The one thing every liberal on TV seems to know about Lincoln is that he put rivals in his cabinet, as subtly indicated in the title to historian and plagiarist Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book: “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.” Like Lincoln, Goodwin is always open to contributions from her rivals, although Lincoln was better at crediting their words.
And hasn’t Obama talked to former rival Hillary about becoming his secretary of state? Hasn’t he had a sit-down with Sen. John McCain? Did I imagine this, or is he even now brokering peace talks between Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck?

Left-wing billionaire financier George Soros is using his financial muscle at a Manhattan fund-raiser tonight to help Al Franken win a recount in Minnesota’s Senate election.
Soros – the hedge-fund honcho and sugar daddy of the Democratic Party – will host a soirée for Franken at his Carnegie Hill digs to help cover the candidate’s costs to monitor the statewide recount.
So, the “one world” POS that made billions off the backs of the ‘little guy’ wants to help the feckless Franken steal an election. Don’t you wonder how many other elections he’s manipulated? Can’t we reject his citizenship?
President-elect promised change, picking insiders
Obama is enlisting former Senate leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America’s top diplomat, her associates said Wednesday.
Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department’s No. 2 when Clinton’s husband was president. Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.
I’m still waiting for the “change”. Seems to me, it’s going to be just more of the same. Face it! What y’all voted for….was the WRONG GUY!
Israel Tries to Convince US of Airport Safety
Intensive efforts are being made to convince the US Federal Aviation Administration not to lower Israel’s airport safety rating.
A delegation of FAA personnel has been in Israel for the past several days, checking procedures in Ben Gurion International Airport and Israel’s Civil Aviation Authority – and have come up with negative conclusions. If Israeli efforts to change the decree fail, the FAA will lower Israel’s rating from Category 1 to Category 2 next week.
This will place Israel in the same category as Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Honduras, Bulgaria and others.
Are they freaking kidding????? The U.S. could learn a GREAT deal from the Israelis when it comes to security!! Starting with some serious ‘profiling’!
Shelby County veterans stress need for continuity in military operations
Retired Vietnam veteran Ed Stutler of Memphis is skeptical of President-elect Barack Obama’s proposed plan to pull combat forces from Iraq in 16 months.
Let the generals on the ground determine when it’s safe to pull out of war, Stutler said, and don’t leave the fragile country until the job is done.
“You cannot fight a war from the White House,” said Stutler, 63, of Obama’s campaign promise to set a timetable for troop withdrawal.
There in lies the biggest problem with “modern warfare”. You’ve got the clueless in D.C. trying to run the show from thousands of miles away. You cannot micromanage war! If they allowed the military do what they were trained to do, the troops could have left Iraq a long time ago.
State education panel hears evolution debate
College professors, science teachers and pro-evolution groups urged the board to drop a rule that requires the strengths and weaknesses of Darwin’s theory to be taught in science courses, while conservative groups aligned with a sizable bloc of board members said the rule has worked well and hasn’t forced religion into those classes as critics charge.

Rabbi Nancy Kasten of Dallas, a board member for the National Council of Jewish Women, said a state rule mandating that weaknesses of evolution be covered makes science education in Texas “vulnerable to a wide range of speculative and subversive interpretation” – including non-scientific explanations such as creationism.
I use to be under the impression that education was for the purpose of educating, allowing different points of view to develop one’s ability to think. When did this change? When the libs took over the education and turned it into indoctrination.
Boehner Says House GOP Not Shifting to the Right; Other Leaders Disagree
House Republicans are not shifting to the political right, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told CNSNews.com on Wednesday, just hours after two of the top three GOP leadership spots were won by conservative lawmakers in an internal leadership election.
Members Reps. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Mike Pence (R-Ind.), and John Mica (R-Fla.), however, told CNSNews.com that they think the conference is shifting to the political right.
But Boehner said, “No, I don’t think it’s right or left. It’s what are the issues Americans are concerned about, and how do we build solutions on our principles? It’s not left or right.
Actually, it’s more a matter of right and wrong. We’re right, they are wrong! One of the major reasons I’m no longer a member of the Republican Party is because it has moved too far left….aka WRONG!
MS-13 member sentenced to 14 years in prison
At his plea hearing, Mendez admitted that he and others involved in the MS-13 gang conspired to participate in a pattern of racketeering activity in the Nashville area, including murder, attempted murder and witness tampering.
In addition, Mendez admitted that on May 21, 2006, he and other MS-13 gang members fired a handgun at an individual who was suspected of being a member of the rival street gang Brown Pride. The victim was struck and wounded in the arm. Mendez also admitted that on June 17, 2006, he and other MS-13 gang members shot and killed two rival gang members sitting inside a car at a traffic light.
This human excrement admits to killing two others and all he gets is 14 years? Excuse me, but how is that ‘justice’?
Imams condone rape, violence – report
SOME Muslim imams condone rape and domestic violence within marriage, exploitation of women, welfare fraud and polygamy, a report has found.

The report, presented on yesterday at a National Centre for Excellence in Islamic Studies conference at the University of Melbourne, alleged that some Victorian imams:
* Apply Sharia law only where it benefits men;
* Hinder police investigations of domestic violence claims; and
* Knowingly perform polygamous marriages, which allow a second wife to claim Centrelink payments because they are regarded as de facto wives under Australian law.
