Mukasey collapses during D.C. speech
Justice Department spokeswoman Gina Talamona would neither release Mr. Mukasey’s condition nor describe the ailment at a press conference late Thursday night. But she said Mr. Mukasey was “conscious, conversant and alert” and added that his vital signs were strong.
The attorney general collapsed about 20 minutes into a speech about the Bush administration’s anti-terrorism efforts, said Craig Richardson, a Colorado lawyer attending the gala.
“He started slurring a word, then it became an entire sentence, and his head went down into his chest,” Mr. Richardson said.
Its sounds like it was a stroke, but of course, they aren’t saying. Not all strokes are debilitating, thankfully. Prayers for a complete recovery.
If you read down to the last sentence:
“You are a tyrant,” a heckler had shouted at Mr. Mukasey before he collapsed. The heckler was then shouted down by others in the audience.
This kind of crap is seriously starting to chap my hide! Very few people in this country have a clue what a REAL tyrant is, and to just throw out words like that on a regular basis diminishes any possibility of intelligence on their part!
Report: U.S. Dominance and Influence Predicted to Fade
The next two decades will see a world living with the daily threat of nuclear war, environmental catastrophe and the decline of America as the dominant global power, according to a frighteningly bleak assessment by the U.S. intelligence community.
“The world of the near future will be subject to an increased likelihood of conflict over resources, including food and water, and will be haunted by the persistence of rogue states and terrorist groups with greater access to nuclear weapons,” said the report by the National Intelligence Council.
Where is a Ronald Reagan when we need him? No, what we get is an inexperienced kid, with NO clue. sigh…. Way to go America! Well, at least 50%. A once great and proud nation has been turned over to a bunch of spoiled, whining brats!
Lobbyist’s ties surprise Tenn. school coalition
When a coalition of Tennessee’s large school systems needed to press the state in 2007 for its share of tax money, the group used public funds to hire a lobbyist to make its case.
But the coalition’s chairman, Shelby County Schools Superintendent Bobby Webb, failed to disclose a potential conflict of interest. The lobbying/law firm he steered his colleagues toward employs his son, Corum Webb, who became one of the lobbyists on the $100,000-a-year account.
Uh…….
“I really don’t see the issue,” Webb said. “Maybe there’s something I’m missing here. The $200,000 we spent has generated millions of additional dollars for our school systems. Maybe it could have been handled in a better way.”
He doesn’t see an issue? Oblivious!
Palin pardons turkey while others slaughtered
Gov. Sarah Palin has granted the traditional Thanksgiving pardon to one lucky turkey, but the video that shocked some viewers captured what was happening in the background.
As she answered questions Thursday at Triple D Farm & Hatchery outside Wasilla cameras from the Anchorage Daily News and others showed the bloody work of an employee slaughtering birds behind the former Republican vice presidential candidate.
Good grief! The Houston Pravda considers this ‘front page news’? Yeah, turkeys get slaughtered. As one commenter noted, “I guess liberals think that turkey’s are born with a plastic wrap and no feathers and just show up in the grocery store. Welcome to the real world… and if you can’t handle that then feel free to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich this Thanksgiving.”
A cold snap in late November would traditionally herald the start of winter proper but this year has already proved an exception with snow blanketing parts of the south east of England, including London in late October.
The freak snowfall on the night of 28 October has already been described by forecasters as the most outstanding example of early snowfall in the south east of England since 1880 and has seen some bookmakers slashing their odds on a white Christmas.
HEY! Boracle! (knock knock knock) Where’s that ‘global warming’ that helped you fleece millions from the clueless?
Kenya: Somali pirates make $150M in a year
Somali pirates have collected more than $150 million in ransoms over the past year, Kenya’s foreign affairs minister said Friday, calling on ship owners not to pay when their vessels are hijacked.
In the past two weeks Somalia’s increasingly brazen pirates have seized eight vessels including a huge Saudi supertanker loaded with $100 million worth of crude oil. Several hundred crew are now in the hands of Somali pirates.
“We are advised that in the last 12 months, ransom to the excess of $150 million has been paid to these criminals and that is why they are becoming more and more audacious in their activities,” Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula said.
Now, this might sound callous, but the only way to stop these thugs is to blow them out of the water. Yes, innocents may die, but many more will die if the money they are getting is being used to buy weapons.
Day 2: 46 percent of ballots recounted; Coleman’s lead slips
The U.S. Senate recount continued Thursday without major glitches across Minnesota, as tabulators and the volunteers watching them settled into an increasingly familiar routine of thumbing, counting and sorting.
With about 46 percent of the 2.9 million ballots counted by Thursday evening, the gap between Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and DFL challenger Al Franken continued to close. Coleman was leading by only 136 votes, a drop from his unofficial lead of 215 that was confirmed Tuesday by the state Canvassing Board.
I seriously find it hard to believe that Minnesotans are so stupid that they’d vote for someone like Al Franken. Sorry, I only mean to offend if you are one of those who did!
Verizon workers put on leave after unauthorized look at Obama’s cell phone records
“All employees who have accessed the account — whether authorized or not — have been put on immediate leave, with pay,” McAdam said. “Employees with legitimate business needs for access will be returned to their positions, while employees who have accessed the account improperly and without legitimate business justification will face appropriate disciplinary action.”
Has the state of Ohio done anything about those snooping into private citizen, Joe the Plumber’s information? Seriously, I’ve been out of touch, so don’t know.
Another bloody night in Sinaloa, Mexico
The fourth corpse pulled from the bullet-shattered pickup truck didn’t have the benefit of a body bag. Only the face was covered (with a useless bulletproof vest). The victim’s red shirt was even redder, soaked with blood. His bare arm hung limply from a gurney as he was lifted to a wagon from the morgue, the toes of his boots pointed skyward, at odd angles.
He was one of five federal and state police agents killed in a brazen shootout Wednesday night on the city’s prominent Emiliano Zapata Boulevard. The officers were ambushed by gunmen in three vehicles who opened fire at an intersection outside an enormous casino called Play.
Is this what we want on this side of the border? Our police slaughtered like sheep by drug thugs? Build that freakin’ fence! And shoot to kill! Our citizens deserve better than what they’ve been getting from the feckless gubmint.
